Ustoppable: Self-righteous and annoyingly justified Denzel Washington on a train/10.

Gotta love the /10 meme.

Pix'n Love Rush is the Donkey Kong Country Returns of the iPhone: a great old school platformer that succeeds despite subpar controls. I'd kill for a DSiWare release.

It certainly doesn't rival DKCR in terms of scope, or even quality I would say, but I enjoy the aesthetic. Really, I think the controls are more of an issue with Pix'n Love Rush than DKCR.

I agree with all your points, but it seemed like a good parallel between a game I've been playing on the iPhone and a game I hope to be playing very soon on the Wii.

It is a great nostalgia trip, and it is always fun when a game that doesn't have any history can pull that feeling off.

In this way, I think Pix'n Love Rush tickles the same neurons that Super Meat Boy does, minus the meat train.

Lego Harry Potter looks great, plays well, and is a fun bit of fan service. I am playing it on the iPad, and the game is a universal app.

Fun fact I didn't include in the review (although I thought about it): bosses level with you and the game gives you a device to let you level quickly.  It's like a trap.

Do bosses level at a rate comparable to that of the player? If they level disproportionately more rapidly, then I would be very worried about setting myself up for failure, but if not it seems like it would just keep a similar level of challenge intact.

As for Bioshock 2, it was one of several games I expected to mention, but then the discussion took a more general, philosophical direction that was probably for the best.

Good, I wasn't looking forward to listening to the, "they shouldn't have made Bioshock 2" discussion.

Did anyone notice that last month's Nintendo Power (that reviewed DKCR) came with an NES controller cling for the Wii Remote? I'm surprised they didn't do that way back for New SMBW given the sheer number of first-party software that's come out since that have NES controls.

I plan on either getting this game for my birfday or Christmas, and I'm super excited.

I've also got a birthday close to Christmas, basically I need to decide if I want this or GT5 first.
Add me to the list of December birthdays. Unlike you guys though, those cheapskates never buy me birthday presents! I'm not sure if I'll be getting this game soon because I've got a pretty long list of Wii games I want, and I still need to finish up Donkey Kong Country 3 anyway.

I'm actually an early January birthday, and yes, I am well acquainted with the "combo gift." Most of the time it is just a regular gift hyped up to combo levels.

Aren't GT games mind-numbingly boring?

Not for me, but I guess its fine if you go ahead and write them off like that.

I kind of hate the soundtrack to this game.

I agree, the soundtrack is essentially an aural representation of the characters' clothing.

One of my best friends is a 'Skins fan, and I've gotten into a habit of referencing Rex Grossman as much as possible. "You look a little tired, Joe. Do we need to sub in Rex?" "Man, you keep on dying in Super Meat Boy. I guess it's time to bring in Grossman."

Is it wrong that I have MGS4, Fallout New Vegas, Civ V, and Valkyria Chronicles all virtually untouched and I continue to just play Super Meat Boy?

Tangent: What is this business about "The other guy fumbling on the first play?" A not-so-subtle jab there Mr. Leahy, it stings!

That was nothing to do with you Nathan - it was part of a running joke about the Redskins benching Donovan McNabb for Rex Grossman at the end of their game against the Lions a couple of weeks ago (James is a 'Skins fan), which quickly saw Rex yield the ball to Detroit to seal the win for them. I thought it was fairly clear we were really talking about sport when James said "yes, I bet against Rex Grossman", but alas it seems I overestimated Sexy Rexy's notoriety.

I gathered that it was a football reference, but thought I would feign offense anyways considering the context of the joke.

after the miniseries.

I just realized that I have been misreading the word, "miniseries" my entire life, and for some reason I thought it meant something entirely different than, "mini-series."

@ happyastoria

I don't want to say anything bad about Destructoid reviewer Jim Sterling, so instead I will just quote one of his recent articles:

Quote
HAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! WHO WOULD BUY IT!? WHAT IDIOT WOULD BUY IT!? HAHA! HAHA! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! (...)

Gamebryo is among the assets now being sold, with a closing date of December 10 for bids. Now if you'll excuse me ...

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA

I disagree that a more powerful Nintendo console would be able to provide all of the games I want.

Just looking at this console generation, the Halo games, Fable II, the Uncharteds, MGS4 and LittleBigPlanet are just a few of the great games that a more powerful Wii wouldn't have seen anyways. As a gamer that wants to play the best of what is out there, I don't think I will be happy with just one console so long as the first parties continue to secure high-quality platform exclusive experiences.

I remember Greg talking about how poeple out grow Nintendo and that some would wish to be able to have their beloved Nintendo games and bigger franchises on a single console.

...and what I am saying is that first party exclusives make it so that I will need to own the other consoles anyways, meaning that I don't care if Nintendo gets these big third party franchises.

Chinese Takeout: Shrimp Lo Mein or Shrimp with Garlic Sauce.

The only bad part about that is if, " You get the shrimp? Dolla mo'. "

Funny, how the usual RFN crew nearly laughed Nathan's love of Assault off of the show, but now everyone's coming out and expressing a renewed interest in the game.  Count me among the many who love Star Fox but have never played Assault due to its ignominious reputation (if I used that word correctly).  But I've also almost gotten it used -- so this might be the push I needed.  If Nintendo won't give me a new one to buy, I'll make due with giving my hard-earned bucks to second-hand sellers.  If the Gamecube ever becomes Retroactive territory, it might make for interesting conversation...

I have been toying with the idea of proposing an Assault feature on Newscast (post-game of course). It would be fun to hear what Zach thinks of it as a newcomer. We did touch on Assault for a bit on ep 30 of Newscast, in which I fully came out of the SFA closet.

Take a closer look, do you not see a young Sigourney Weaver in that picture?

Excellent choice for Panera, though I will typically go for some variant on their "You Pick Two" option.

Maybe I'm biased, but American pizza is superior too!

I enjoy Italian pizza, most "by the slice" style pizza I have eaten in Italy is far superior to the American equivalent. There was a pizza place I went to every day for breakfast for a while (just outside of Rome), I absolutely loved it.
