Nah. I think I'll stick with SSF4 and just get DoA at a later time. I think there has to be a medical condition for people that can't make up their minds and change them every few minutes.  :-[

Amazon usually doesn't require much effort. It takes longer to get your money of course and that is the biggest negative I feel. If you do a lot of shopping on Amazon.com it's really worth it. Even though GameStop is easier and quicker I don't like being ripped off. At least I feel I would be. Them giving someone 5 or if they're lucky 10 dollars for a game and then turn around and price it for $40 or more really bothers me. There prices could be and should be higher.

I will admit I'm bias. Unless I have to or I know for certain they will break a street date on something I really want to get (rare) I rather not shop there. The size of most of the stores (very small) and the uneasy feeling I'm constantly being watched bothers the hell out of me.

Would be great to play with others from here. I know I'll be on this Friday after I get home from work. So between 7pm to midnight EST.

Having a sentry gun stolen is a real pain. I've gotten good at taking them out but still a pain. There are some maps where if they come up I quickly change that and the general care package kill streak. Nuketown and Havana for example is far to risky for care packages I found when you have a good game going. Firing Range is another as there are really only two places you can call them down. One can be somewhat safe (near the target dummies) and the other is the one area that is out in the open. I only call down there if I can get a attack helicopter at the same time (rare on that map for me). I put that thing right above the spot and then call down the package or gun.

I have recently been taking to shooting down spy planes.

I don't understand what Ars Technica is trying to do. Well I do...misinformation. Nintendo has never took the stance that they want games that were only 3D based. The whole point of the slider is so that people have a choice. Either to play with or without the 3D. To back away from something means you have to be for something in the first place and Nintendo was never there.

I would never trade in games at GameStop. Such a massive rip off compared to reselling the game yourself via Amazon.com Marketplace or just selling it to Amazon.com.

I like SRPGs but I have issues with buying a DS game being passed off as a 3DS game. Then there is the whole Ubisoft factor. Word isn't good on almost all of their 3DS game offerings. Everything they have out is a rushed, poorly rushed at that, ports of games. Ghost Recon seems to be doing okay it seems in the eyes of those that have had a chance to play it but still. Perhaps because it started original as DS game is a big factor in it's favor.

Usually in the evenings (EST) close and during the weekends usually.  I'll most likely be playing again this Friday.

Finally finished the game this weekend. It certainly gets better but the just makes the beginning that much more of a disappointment. The is can be so inconsistent at times. Laying my Wii flat also helped I think. Decent enough overall but bad first impression I feel. I'd be willing to play through it again at a later date or even check out a sequel if it continued the storyline but I think I'm pretty much Call of Duty'd out. Just trying to max out my online profile again. Level 41 against as prestiging once. Not doing it again. Once I'm level 50 again I think this will go back on the shelf. Now on to other games. :)

TOM CLANCY'S GHOST RECON: SHADOW WARS! It's like Fire Emblem, but set in modern times. Why is no one else excited for this?!
While I enjoy SRPGs I'm taking a pass on Shadow Wars and maybe even dismissing it a bit for one reason. It's a DS game trying to be passed off as a 3DS game. I'm not falling for that crap. I'm not about to pay a 3DS price for a DS game. If this was in a DS box I might be more willing to give it chance even though it's a Ubisoft game. They usually tend to suck when it comes to Nintendo systems I feel.

A friend of mine said that he was able to try out the 3DS, as a friend of his imported it from Japan. He actually got headaches from the 3D, which continued even after he stopped using the 3DS. He did have the 3D turned up all the way, however...

Going to question this. Some eye strain has been reported in some people and there is a case that 3D doesn't always work everyone and people do need to play with the settings to find what is right for them. However the headache thing is very suspect as that's what happen with the Virtual Boy and no one has reported anything like that with the 3DS from the various information out there that. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Sure he wasn't exaggerating?

I think I'm going have to knock my list from three down to two. Steel Diver is a get for certain. So it comes down between Super Street Fighter 4 and Ridge Racer. I mainly want SSF4 because it appears to the best 3DS launch game. I'm not crazy about fighters and really out of the two big fighters I want Dead or Alive the most but it's not coming out to May. I could simply wait for DoA:D. Ridge Racer looks fun but it seems tracks are used over and over and over, etc again. That could get boring I think. Not sure how much this is laziness and rushed game or if that is how Ridge Racer games usually are. I want to get two at the minimum so while I could pass on SSF4 and wait Dead or Alive I'm not sure if I really want Ridge Racer to be the second game. I need to decide soon though.

341
Hope everything goes well this year. I enjoyed last years podcast.

Anyone interested in Ghost Recon: Shadow Warriors should read this IGN interview with the game's producer. He goes really in-depth into the mechanics of the game, and has me sold on it. Unless some truly awful reviews come in, I'm picking the game up with the system on launch day.
I'm a fan of SRPGs. However what Ubisoft is doing on the 3DS is just extremely disappointing. Ghost Recon looks so damn ugly. Now I'm not a graphics guy usually but this should have stayed a DS game. It has no business being in a 3DS box. It has no support at all from Ubisoft who are basically sending it and Splinter Cell out to die. Even they have to know how rush these games are and what they most certainly look like compared to other 3DS games. The Combat of Giants game looks more graphically impressive. I know the head design of Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars is talented but I see no reason at all to spend any money on this game given how it looks and has been presented. Now if it was being pushed as a DS game that's a different story. Expectations are higher if you are going to push a 3DS game. Especially when all others have or are rising to the challenge.

343
The amount of content in Steel Diver has me worried. I still want to play the game just not sure if it might be worth the full price at launch. It seems Famitsu says there isn't a lot of content in the game when they finally reviewed it.

Nintendo Gaming / Re: Which version of Pokémon games do you get?
« on: March 07, 2011, 09:40:36 PM »
When it came to Diamond and Pearl it came down to which "star" Pokemon I liked the most. I ended up getting Pearl. Before that (the last Pokemon game I played before that being the originals) it came down to color. I got Red because I knew a friend already had Blue and I happen to like Red more. Then I got Yellow when it came out.

345
This has pretty much been my stance for a while now. I usually look at reviews or previews to get an idea of what the game is like. Short of it being broken I let how interested I am decide if I buy the game or not. Some outlets have more credibility with me even on that regard. Nintendo Power for one but I try to stay away from gaming outlets like IGN, etc. To much information can be a bad thing I find and unfortunately can influence your opinion in a negative way.

Steel Diver does seem like a game I'll have to play for myself. I do hope there is a decent amount of content to it though. That's what I'm mainly waiting to see from previews/reviews.

346
I'm not great with fighting games. I even suck a bit at Smash Bros but I like that I can button mash to a degree and still have fun. Honestly the single player mode and online were the primary reasons I got Brawl since I don't have anyone locally to play with anymore. The last Street Fighter game I owned and played to any degree was Street Fighter EX3 on the PS2 and I played against the AI only. Before that it was Street Fighter 2: Turbo I think.  I'm long over due for another chance at the series.

The primary reasons I'm getting SSF4 and DoA when they comes out is that they look to be the best games graphically and action wise on the 3DS at the moment. That the control schemes will make them easy to get into and there will be online play make them must buys for me.

Ridge Racer. I want a racing game and this looks like fun. Not as good looking as I hoped but I wanted something different from the Mario Kart game that is to come.

Steel Diver is the most interesting and a big unknown to me. The idea of submarine gameplay has peaked my interest. It being a Shigeru Miyamoto headed game makes it stand out. I have no idea if I'll hate it or like but I'm willing to take the chance.

347
Super Street Fighter 4
Steel Diver
Ridge Racer

Those are three games I currently have ordered. I wish Dead or Alive was coming out on launch day or I'd get that instead of SSF4 but oh well.

Epic just claimed that there's no middle ground between 50 million dollar AAA games and indie titles made in a garage. They're just close minded.

I'm going to go out and say that Epic's attitude, which is in part shared by many western developers is why Nintendo might never have a strong relationship with them the way they have with their Japanese counterparts. Instead of Nintendo crawling to them (the way Sony and Microsoft have done to a degree) and doing what they can to get their support, which can be a negative to Nintendo itself (looks at how much money Sony and Microsoft lost on their hardware doing that) Nintendo I think in a manner of speaking just does a "screw you too" and continues to do their own thing. They as a company are better for it I think even though we as customers might not be at times.

I think the N64/PS1 era when many developers pulled support (for various reasons) in favor of Sony taught Nintendo a valuable lesson. They can not and should not totally depend on 3rd party developers or have business models that put them in the red. Had Nintendo not had a good deal of their own IPs during the N64 and Cube era and had enough goodwill with buyers to introduce more they'd be gone I think. So they think about themselves first and foremost and what benefits them. As well as they should. They don't have the money to produce hardware so powerful and expensive that they need to sell at a loss just to get people to buy and so 3rd parties will make games for. It isn't going to happy. Neither would Sony or Microsoft if their gaming divisions were actual true independent entities.

I would much rather prefer Nintendo work with companies that actually are willing to work with the technology they provide. If they feel Nintendo could do better then I think they should work with them to design a system that will actually be profitable piece of hardware and not put Nintendo itself out of business. So instead of being concerned that Epic refuses to work on a Nintendo system I think more interest and support should be given to High Voltage who has a version of their Conduit engine running on the 3DS. People should be more interested in Capcom and Tecmo who has successfully developed Street Fighter and Dead or Alive games for the 3DS that are exactly like their console counterparts. Even Konami that is going to provide a true Metal Gear Solid game (remake it may be). Forget the likes of Epic I say.

As soon as I saw that the those flash cards were working, at least for original DS games I figured that might be part of why the online store and browser were delayed. If those people were smart they would have waited as well but they jumped the gun. At least Nintendo could then get some of the earlier hacks taken care of I hope.

Another reason why I think the StreetPass is going to be significant. If you take your system anywhere with you, you run the risk of running into someone else that has the most recent firmware. While the wifi can be turned off I don't think this feature can, can it? Either they updated their system or got it from someone else they passed. So hack the system all you want, there is a good chance it could be undone by taking yours out of the house. Even then that might not work if you are in an apartment building or in a house that is very near another one either side. The person below, above, or next door to you could have an updated firmware. A wide net will be cast for the most part in key areas. Especailly in schools and school buses in the US at least.
