Neal did you unlocked the Expert Mode? Or race against the developer ghost images?

If it took them a few weeks to announce a Mario game out of all thing after NOE announced it, then I wouldn't be surprise if we might even have to wait until E3 to hear about the American release.  Of course hopefully it will be much sooner then that.

I just hope this game is part of the content that Reggie said would be coming before E3.
Not getting my hopes up. Perhaps I'm becoming to jaded but Nintendo tends to disappoint in situations like this outside of their core franchises.

Well the impressions from various players have won me over. Though I'm pretty much getting it for  free due to Amazon.com credits. Here's hoping I don't regret even using that. My copy should be here sometime toward the end of the week.

Sadly I won't be using Impulse anymore. I don't like Steam because of the idea that they could ban yourself and literally deny you access to games you purchased. You aren't really buying them but leasing/renting hem from them if they can do that. I liked Impulse because it was a good alternative. However I refused to give GameStop my money if I can help it. So with this news I'll be buying elsewhere. I've been looking to give GamersGate a try.

Just want to jump in here and post that Nintendo of America has registed a Domain name for xenobladechronicles.com and that it redirects to Nintendo's home page. Here is the link http://www.wired.com/gamelife/2011/03/xenoblade-chronicles/ Check at the bottom of the story for the details.

As said before that means nothing in the end. They've done this before and nothing came of it. It could easily be them just stopping anyone else from taking the domain name. It cost for them to just sit on it is insignificant.

I do wish we could filter friends into list though.  Also having people's Mii characters listed isn't going to be helpful, since some people name them after themselves. Not many people are on a real name basis and it might be confusing if they know someone else with the same name. Though the name input section isn't big enough for some forum names so they'll have to be shortened.

Just want to post this here since you guys might not have looked in the main Xenoblade topic.

http://www.wired.com/gamelife/2011/03/xenoblade-chronicles/
Check at the bottom of the page. It shows that Nintendo of America has registered a domain name for xenobladechronicles.com which currently redirects to Nintendo's home page.

Means nothing. They could just be doing it so no one else gets it. Doesn't mean they have any intention of actually releasing the game.

I know. I hate having to do that but I really want to play this game and if NoA doesn't want to play ball so be it.

According to some NeoGAF users NoE's confirmed via e-mail that it's coming out in Europe, and the game now has its own page and video on Nintendo's UK website.  http://www.nintendo.co.uk/NOE/en_GB/games/wii/xenoblade_chronicles_32583.html

We can't be too far behind.  Put those two big balls down and get us this game, Reggie!

Considering Reggie has failed to bring us Fatal Frame IV (yes, I know why), the Trace Memory sequel, Disaster: Day of Crisis, etc., I have a feeling this is going to be yet another game that NoE localizes and NoA does not.

Until there is something that says and shows otherwise this is the train of thought I'm working with.

Honestly, I think both parties are in the wrong here. I feel it was short-sighted of Nintendo to dismiss the viability of the cheap downloadable games market on smartphones, while on the other hand, I see these comments from Rovio as ignorant, and in some ways, quite arrogant. Both distribution platforms are healthy, and there's no reason they shouldn't co-exist.

Nintendo never dismissed cheap downloadable games. Iwata said the race to the bottom and the conditioning of people (which is a result of the race to the bottom and free games)  to think all games should be that cheap was bad. That's what he was saying yet many people are choosing to completely ignore this.

I don't like the brew. However if NoA does not release this I will do whatever I have to do to play an import version of the game on my US Wii. That will be the end of me speaking out against such software going forward as well.

Mine arrived today after some issues with Amazon.com. I'll post my impressions of it this weekend. By then I'll have played more of Steel Diver, Ridge Racer, and Street Fighter.

*Shakes head*  :(

I really wish Nintendo would simply not give Ubisoft dev kits. Just refuse them no matter what they say they want to put on a Nintendo system. They might present a handful of titles on a system that are decent but they put out far to much crap. Now if they want to waste the money that's okay. However their crap makes it worse for everyone else. It turns off casual buyers as they are more likely to pick up one of their games for themselves or their kids. Their games take away shelf space from more worthwhile games. Their games end up being copied by shovelware developers just taking away even more shelf space. I think Nintendo systems would be far better off if Ubisoft was somehow blacklisted.

That's what I love about Bad Company 2. Being able to bring down buildings and destroying trees can change the whole dynamic of a match. There is one rush map where you come down through a tree line to attack two objectives. The defenders can literally destroy all the trees leaving the attackers completely exposed making it down near impossible for them to win. You have people hiding in a building? Instead of rushing the building just bring it down via rockets, mortars, or tanks. Just blow a hole in one side and rush in. Stop that tank? Destroy the bridges it will use forcing it and other players to go in another direction where you can take it out at will. I find CoD matches boring by comparison. I'm looking forward to Battlefield 3.  ;D

See, if people had informed me of this sooner, I may have gotten an HD console back when things weren't so financially lame. Flattening an area is the best anti-camper tactic you can ask for. If the stuff doesn't respawn it would be worth using your ammo to remove favorite sniper spots early on just so they can't even get started.

Haven't played the console versions of the game but I do play the PC version. Yup trees, buildings, etc don't respawn. Mounted guns and rocket lauchers do but only if the location they were originally located remains. So if they are on top of a trailer or in a building window and those locations are destroyed they don't come back. Vehicles do respawn though. Sometimes it really is worth running through your ammo to bring down a building or destroying cover even if you die. The game is more tactical then CoD as well.

I have been curious about the barebones mode.

I really think people are making a mistake to wait for a "3DS Lite". The only reason the "Lite" came out was because the original DS was rushed. They had a design that wasn't what they really wanted. Pretty much thrown together I believe. The design for the 3DS is pretty much what Nintendo wanted as it's pretty much the design of the DS Lite. It has the upgraded OS and store that was tried out first on the DSi. If anything we might see a bigger version of the system but that might not be for years. When people make the 3DS Lite comments they keep forgetting or don't realize why the original DS changed into the DS Lite.

I can understand wanting to be sensitive in light of what happen but that's really extreme. Clearly it was out before the earthquake and I doubt people would think they did it to be cruel, etc. Wouldn't this actually bring more attention to when it might have been overlooked?

Sadly the Wii couldn't handle something like. Even the 360 and PS3 versions of Bad Company have a lower number of players and I think smaller maps then the PC version too.

I am a sucker for SRPGs and I think I have been to hard on the game. With the Amazon.com deals I can pretty much pick up another 3DS game for free. I was going to save that for Dead or Alive but if Nintendo Power has anything positive to say about the game it might sway me.

I think Napalm Strike, Mortar, and the bomber are wasted in a game without landscape and building damage. I guess I've played far to much Battlefield: Bad Company 2 but those kill streaks scream environmental destruction. However if Call of Duty had that they'd have to be the hardest to get since they would change the landscape.

Good playing with you Mop. Hopefully we can do it again. That first game was bad though. Glad that group left. Things were more fair after that.

Steel Diver was one of the 4 games to receive the "Buy It" rating from Kotaku in its 3DS launch titles feature, along with PilotWings, Street Fighter and Ghost Recon.
Interesting. I'm still surprised by Ghost Recon. I wonder how much of it though is it being a good game or just the rest of Ubisoft's line up is so bad that this is considered good by comparison.

323
I'm kinda regretting pre-ordering Steel Diver.  But I guess we'll see.
I'm not paying attention to any of the reviews on this game. It's such a unique game I don't think everyone is going to look at it the same. Especailly reviewers that are rushing through games in time for the launch. This looks like a game that you have to take your time with and it looks intentionally designed that way. I've seen enough videos to know what it looks like and how it plays. That hasn't turned me off. It seems short but then the last mode looks like it could last longer and then you can do the game again with the different subs.

Reviews anyway haven't really focused on the content of the game in any detail, just saying it's short and lite on it. That doesn't really help anyone.

If it's using the UE2 then they aren't doing a good job of using it. Splinter Cell looks horrible.

To bad Ubisoft can't do anything with it judging by how Splinter Cell 3DS looks. :(
