Still deciding if I'll be picking this up or not. I need to know there is some purpose to the coin collecting other then the sake of just doing it. The rush mode is worthless to me because I hardly ever get any street passes. I complete the puzzles and Find Mii by using play coins. If there is nothing more to the game then I'm not going to bother with it.

Went for the cards. These rewards really are worthless in the end I feel. Especially when I look at the amount of money I have spent  on games just to end up the points I have. Now if they would just offer some of the more unique items that Japan gets I might feel differently. *Sigh* Sometimes I wish they wouldn't even bother.

I can understand that but I don't want to buy a game just because there is nothing else coming out and it just happens to maybe scratch an itch I have. Many times I've had to stop myself from buying something in order to have a new game just to have one. Each time I stop because I ask myself if I really want that game or the like the idea of buying a new game.

Finally got to try out the demo for Heroes of Ruin. Now I'm no so sure about the game. It is a dungeon crawler but something about it just isn't clicking with me.

I think what wasn't "clicking" was that it was Diablo without a mouse, battlenet, or art direction.   That demo was bad.   As soon as I turned that off, I deleted that game off my Amazon wishlist.  Like, really really fast.

I wouldn't say it was bad but it certainly wasn't great (or anywhere close to it) and not worth buying I feel when there are other games that are certainly better and are more enjoyable. After sleeping on it everything in the end felt mediocre for the lack of a better word. Looking back I had a feeling it might end up that way but was hoping that wouldn't be the case. Canceled my preorder last night. I can't justify spending money on a game that feels like that.

The lack of mouse control wasn't an issue for me though. I enjoyed Dungeon Siege 3 and that didn't have mouse controls like the previous games in that series.

If I had to pick I'd rather have a new Advance Wars game. Not that Fire Emblem isn't good because it is but I like the focus on fewer characters. Sometimes Fire Emblem is just to much.

Finally got to try out the demo for Heroes of Ruin. Now I'm no so sure about the game. It is a dungeon crawler but something about it just isn't clicking with me. I knew what it was going to be like. I watched the videos and read up on it. It is what I was expecting but now that I have gotten to play though I'm not sure I want to go through with the purchase even if Amazon.com is selling for $10 off the normal price.

I guess what it's offering, granted this was a demo, just wasn't enough compared to other action/adventure games I've played on the system.

Perhaps this is way to pessimistic but I would not be surprised at all if the Wii U launches without it's eShop no matter what Nintendo is says. That they are hiring someone for a position like this now is worrisome. It's also really annoying because it's at the point where I'm just waiting for Nintendo to drop the ball. Not to see if they do but when they do. I'll be happy if I'm wrong but I'm prepared for and expect the worse to happen.

ZombiU is a title I'm really looking forward to as well. I just hope Ubisoft doesn't drop the ball at the end though. The concept is pretty interesting and while I'm not one for horror games I'm willing to give this a shot.

The things on Amazon seem to be from a bunch of third party sellers and not Amazon.com itself. I'm looking for a  reputable seller. That way I'll know the items are official and not extremely overpriced. Them being official is my major concern. I don't want to buy any knockoffs. Something like this I don't feel comfortable buying from a bunch of third party sellers.

TalkBack / Re: Nintendo Considering Wii U Pre-Installed Software
« on: June 06, 2012, 09:13:13 PM »
I hope Nintendo Land is pre-installed. I don't think it would have the same attraction that Wii Sports did. That was such an easy sell and I'm not sure people love amusement parks as much as Nintendo think they do. Also if worlds were populated with Nintendo characters they'd seem more inviting to me.

136
*Sigh* At this point I see no reason at all to get a Wii U at launch. I like what ZombiU seems like. I like Lego City but everything else really.... I've never played Pikmin so in the end it Pikmin 3 means nothing to me. Maybe something later will change my mind but at the moment I see no reason to keep saving up for the system and not buy other games on the PS3/360 as they come out.

I recall it being said video would be put up after it was done.

ZombiU demo.

Overall I was happy with the presentation. There were not big reveals and I was disappointed there was no "One more thing...". However for much of the ports we have footage for them from other sources. I do agree they wasted to much time on Batman. Based on the demo ZombiU would have been a better choice to focus on as that is look very interesting and could be my favorite game so far out E3 outside of Watch_Dogs, The Last of Us, and Pikmin 3.

I do hope we see more from Nintendo tonight. The Miiverse is suppose to be explained and I think that is when we'll get information on the online system and maybe Retro's game or something like that. Similar to how we say Ghost Recon and Killer Freaks last year.

Nintendo Gaming / Nintendo merchandise (Mugs, etc). Where to buy?
« on: June 04, 2012, 11:31:45 PM »
I've always wonder is there an online store that sells official Nintendo merchandise such as mugs, t-shirts, etc? I've seen some shirts in places like JCPenny but it's usually just t-shirts but nothing outside of that. I'd be more likely to buy something if I could take my time to look at a selection and buy when the desire hit me.

Thanks

TalkBack / Re: Killer Freaks Becomes Zombi U
« on: June 04, 2012, 08:54:15 PM »
From the PR it seems the game has pemadeath. Each time you die your character becomes a Zombi and you respawn as a new survivor. Once in the game you seem to be able to hunt down your previous character to get back you items and try to survivor again. So potentially it sounds like you could have a lot of weapons, ammo, etc and lose it all and then possibly have to go up against your previous character who might have all that and I wonder if they'll be using it to kill you. Trying to kill that character and get back your equipment could be pretty challenging as long as the gameplay holds up.

TalkBack / Re: 'Nintendo Direct Pre E3 2012' Announced
« on: June 02, 2012, 05:42:14 PM »
Sunday - Nintendo Direct. Wii U hardware
Monday - 3rd party press conferences with Wii U games
Tuesday - Press conference. Website updated with game information like last year. Developer discussion that night.
Wednesday - Software showcase event

In between that are Sony and Microsoft. E3 this year is Nintendo's show. They'll be the first thing people talk about and the last thing. They'll be the center piece as well. No matter what Sony and Microsoft announce they'll be going up against Nintendo coverage and hype on all sides, even at the 3rd party conferences.

Look at Monday alone. Nintendo Direct Sunday night. Will still be the talk Monday morning before Microsoft. Then comes Ubisoft where there will be Wii U games. They'll want to hype their new games and IPs a lot as it benefits them. Then Sony. However what will be the talk Tuesday morning? What Sony announced the night before or what Nintendo will be revealing that morning since there have been no leaks? Nintendo of course. Then it's Nintendo for the rest of the day and the next.

TalkBack / Re: Mario Tennis Open Review
« on: May 21, 2012, 10:10:08 PM »
I'm surprised how much I'm enjoying this.  This is the first Mario Tennis game for me. I might have played the N64 at some point but don't really remember if I did or not. I'm taking this game as a play at anytime type of game. Not one to complete but one to play when I want to jump in for a quick match or to. Something I wanted to do with Mario Kart 7 but this feels more fair. Not random like in MK7 do to the powers. There seems to be a level of strategy I can employ here, at least so far. I wish the game did more to explain the powers of the various items but I think I sort of understand it now.

Not sure if I'll take this online. At least not until I unlock a LOT more items for my Mii or figure out what character works best for me.

Good luck NinSage!!!

Going to take a pass myself. I've developed a serious dislike for Mario Kart 7. Finding the cheapness of the AI just very frustrating. I like unlocking things and doing all the cups but I hate coming in last or near the end just because the game sees fit to hit me with five different items. How well you drive simply doesn't matter. I think I just no longer have a tolerance for the style of game Mario Kart is anymore. Also not being able to get the boost right at the beginning of the race makes racing online worthless to me as well since I can forget about having a chance at winning or coming in near the front.

I think I'll just stick to straight racing games. Part of why I've enjoyed Ridge Racer 3D the way I have.

Part of an interview with the head of Treyarch by the site PressFire was translated and posted over at NeoGaf. Heavily hints at the Wii U version and talks about Treyarch's history with Nintendo consoles when it comes to Call of Duty.

Here's the original interview. http://www.pressfire.no/spesialer/Intervjuer/5038/-Vi-lytter-til-fansen

PressFire: Do you have a release date?
Lamia: November 13th

PressFire: That's around the same time as the Wii U launch, isn’t it?
Lamia: (smirks) It is... That’s what I hear, rumor-wise. I don’t think they’ve announced a launch date for the Wii U though?

PressFire: They said before christmas? But that overwatch mode, on the Wii U pad ...it seems kind of obvious?
Lamia: (laughs) Do you want a job in game design?

PressFire: (laughs) So is there a Wii U version coming?
Lamia: Ah! We’re not.. we’re only talking about the other platforms at this time.

PressFire: I know.
Lamia: But here’s what I can tell you: Treyarch has a long tradition of working on the Nintendo platforms. A long tradition.

PressFire: That’s right, you did the Wii versions of the Modern Warfare games.
Lamia: Uh huh, and the Wii versions of all our Call of Duty titles. And we made the GameCube version of Big Red One. And the Wii version of Spiderman Web of Shadows. We have a lot of experience on the Wii and on the Nintendo platforms. So yeah, we enjoy the Nintendo Wii. We enjoy working on that.

I'm not really enjoying MK7 all that much anymore. The items and cheapness of the game AI in the 150cc racing simply is not fun. It's frustrating and the game actually manages to make me angry. I feel like I've wasted time, every time I end up being hit on the last lap just to lose even after I've managed to be able to deal with the game AI during the entire race. That has nothing to do with skill or gameplay. I'm really sick of it. What's worse is that is where all the unlockables seem to be. I don't find it fun to play a game (anymore at this point) where the game seems to actively try to screw you over instead of trying to provide an honest challenge. There is a difference.

It's really to point where I'll be taking a pass the next entry in the series and possibly for the foreseeable future. I liked MKWii but it didn't seem this unfair or purposefully frustrating. Maybe the series is simply no longer for me. Out of the racers on the 3DS I've played (Ridge Racer and Mario 3D Kart) Ridge Racer has been a far more enjoyable experience.  I'll keep my copy I guess and perhaps do some battle mode online from time to time. That and the time trials are the only modes that don't frustrate me. I don't care about the regular racing (offline or online) aspect of the game anymore.

Nice. Makes me wish I had some drawing ability other then being able to sketch very simple objects. Even then the end result is questionable. Buying this would be worthless in the end no matter how good it is.  :(

Game still looks fun. Still holding out hope that some other publisher will pick this up from Nintendo for a North America release. With Xseed releasing The Last Story don't think that's to big of a leap. Though if not once I have my Wii U I'll be willing in the end to alter the system to import the game unless Nintendo puts up the European version for download on the Wii U's online store.

There will be no reason at all to not put up a digital version when the new system is out I feel, especially with it already localized.
