I guess having Zurg as an exclusive character didn't help the PlayStation 3 version of Toy Story 3: The Video Game........

Hecks NO!, I think this kind of approach can only work for games like Batman: Arkam Asylum(Playable Joker), the percentage of PS3 owners + Toy Story "lovers" divided by must play as Zurg ='s the smallest market possible for that skew of the game.

.......I am a little shocked at how much Green Day: Rock Band bombed.........

As time continues with the Music Game genre, the sales will continue to dwindle and shift. I love Green Day and I'm a gamer that has only owned 3 Guitar Hero/Rock Band games so I'm not completely burnt out and I have yet to buy the game because I know that the price will drop super low by X-Mas, due to low sales.

Many gamers say, If they had (insert your favorite band here) then I would be all over it, but as time passes interest dwindles and my interest shifts to something else as some one else wants(your favorite band)

Looking at these sales must be frustrating and baffling to third party developers, top notch quality titles that gamers play on a daily basis can not crack that top tier of Wii sales , even with it's massive install base. Shear luck should have better numbers than this.

Every developer and they Ma Ma! is ready to do stuff on the 3DS, but I bet they will think twice or even steer clear of Nintendo's next home console due to sales like these.

Hopefully the Madden franchise can continue to evolve on the Wii/Next Nintendo Console to be a tailored experience.

If they can continue to find a way for me to get a truly fun American Football(respect) experience and allow my son to enjoy playing with me, then I believe the series can begin to have true resonance once again on Nintendo's consoles.

Even though some may want the simulation heavy product that made Madden what it is to day, we must understand that Nintendo home consoles are now transition systems. Before, kid gamers were the only gamers. Now were grown gamers but kid gamers cant start off with the complexity of Madden 2011 on the PS3 and expect to understand whats happening.

If EA continues this effort at hand they turn "arcadey" Wii Madden 2011 kids into Simulation Madden 2016 Playaz!

Caint wait for this one to hit the streets, I haven't been excited for a spidey game since Ultimate Spider-Man.

Cool lock on camera and that unreal "shiny dude" engine feel. I hope the base jumping in 2099 doesn't get repetitive.

.............I'm more concerned that it'll open a door to online predators..Hopefully they'll make it available via friend's code online.

*sigh*

This is the one time that I would want those stinkin friend codes in effect.

My children are 10 and 7 years old and they love Pokemon as much as I do.  If something "inappropriate" was to happen I would go bonkerz.

Sounds like they want to put out some quality games for WiiWare but too bad that titles like this get lost in obscurity on Nintendo's DL service.

Just recently my friends' wife said that she wishes that she could play a bowling game that wasn't so dang-ol cute, but wanted it to at least control the same. I now can tell her about this game but how many more people like this are out there?

« on: July 13, 2010, 09:48:41 AM »
which lesson will they learn from brawl online?

1) It does not matter how bad quality and broken online is, the game will sell regardless.....

?

Icarus doesn't have as rabid and mangy a fanbase as smash bros, give me a break. That they're considering online for a game like this a good sign.

Right ON! My 10 year old son and all his big head friends represent most of the kids that play Brawl and they had no clue who Pit is or where he came from. And when I showed them the NES game they laughed[.....uncontrollably]

WE, will buy Kid Icarus day one but Nintendo will have to set up a MEAN  ad campaign to sell this one like gang busters.

I think Brawl was a game that was too fast, with too much going on to work well online...but they tried anyway, and it was foolish....

Ever play Marvel Vs Capcom 2 online? The speed is possible, but the effort must be there too.

Hopefully the 3DS is our beginning to a nel day of Nintendo connectivity abroad, I dream they try their best here, learn from the mistakes and deliver us GOLD on the home console.

Luigi Dude, awesome post!

But Bit.Trip is on top of it. Those type of are rarely ever ready at launch. Whatever they might release with at launch will be focused on their new innovation, remember Nintendo doesn't want to release a new system unless they feel that they can't accomplish it on their current platform.

But I do agree that the new console doesn't showcase until 2012. I shall call it "The Nintendo Armageddon"

"The amount of time it takes from starting a game to playing it needs to be much smaller in a handheld title, and the satisfaction has to be achieved quicker as well."

Explain that to the top sellers like DQ9 :0.  While it's true for some gamers that can only squeeze off a few minutes here and there but there's plenty of handheld gamers more than willing to sit down for the long haul.  With the current generation (DS/PSP) both have a sleeper mode which enables you to pause the game at any time so I don't see the need to market the handhelds to simple mini-games.

And while Nintendo does have Catz and Dogs coming out, it's also publishing Zelda OOT remake and PaperMario neither of them in in the category of "quick fix".

Right right, they don't need to be quick games but quick for us to get in and get out. I have 80+ hours in Pokemon HG/SS, nothing quick about that, but I can stop real quick save my game and jump back in to it for another 3hour "long haul".......

Wii 2 is never going to happen... Nintendo will call it something else

Which is why i insist on calling it.......

... Nintendo's next home console...

Also, after playing mass effect 2 I have to say graphics are reaching some crazy levels. A system marginally better than xbox 360 or ps3 will still be awesome. Also, im a believer in unlimited detail(although from the sounds of it should be relegated to static objects)....

You need to check out Rage then by id software, detail up the wazoo!

Wii 2 is still several years away. Anyways, new hardware wouldn't be needed; Iwata is just saying that the launch of a new system is a good time to do it.

I wouldn't say several, man.  I think Nintendo's next console is coming holiday next year.  If they're smart, it will.

As far as Nintendo's next home console, they'll be in the position to do a this is what we've been working on, this is what it does and this week it's in stores[my face will melt] and this is possible at TGS/Nintendo's Fall showcase next year.

With this "Tag" mode that the 3DS will have, I hope I will be able to contact or thank those that I got information from, that's a great way to build a friends list.

But one question still remains for me, will this be viral Wi-Fi like BNM2k1 suggests, or how much "FREE" 3G will we have. That would put free texting in the hands of 3DS owners. Is this part of Nintendo's plan to create a subscription model to ensure that their handheld prints MORE MONEY?

TalkBack / Re: Griptonite Chief: Treat the 3DS Like a Console
« on: July 12, 2010, 10:07:38 AM »
I'm sure we'll see console-like games on the system (and we did for the DS, too). But treating a handheld like a console is sort of what got the PSP in trouble. Portable games need to be convenient for on-the-go gaming.....

Nail on the head brutha, look at The latest outing of the game franchise TJ is refering to, MGS Peace Walker, tight game tat would have sold gang busters on PS3, but it's not fit for"on-the-go" gaming.

I think he meant publishers should put the effort and quality into 3DS games that they would for console games. A lot of times publishers will not put their top development teams on portable games.

Great point but you might be able to find that argument with all the platforms we have out there. Games developed for 360 then ported to PS3 so they "look" the same, the 3DS having the power it has but were getting N64 games for launch, 360's software integration not being taken advantage of, the look and feel of SMG2, Metroid Prime 3, and Epic Yarn is achievable but 3rd parties BLAH BLAH BLAH.

If publishers/developers have games like Okami-den(worthy of console release) but can give me a save any time feature and a story that's good but simple enough that a week later I'm not dumbfounded(that's easier tan you think for me), then I'm all aboard.

I refuse to buy any game that uses crap like the Online Pass, that is why I am glad that UFC Undisputed 2010 sold less than expected.

THQ's Online Access Codes probably helped it sell less but UFC Undisputed 2010 didn't need much help to not succeed.

- Nintendo has no plans for a theme park, and if they ever built one it would not simply be a normal theme park with Nintendo characters.

But wait, I can see it now, ~~~~~~~~~~(dream sequence lines)~~~~~~

At the ticket booth, tickets are printed on Game and Watch replica playing cards, all food attendants are dressed up as colorful Toads and Kirby Chefs.

to my left I see the Super Mario Jumpman Palace where the kids run wild on a 100yard Mario obstacle course(me too, he he), Ohh I see my favorite twin roller-coaster ride, Mario Sunshine Splat where one coaster designed as Mario and the other as Dark Mario and you shoot mounted FLUDD's at each other as you race through Delfino cardboard cutouts

Now welcome to the World of You and Mii(for some reason they didn't use Wuhu Island) where we play a variety of WiiSports themed games and earn NinTiX to redeem prizes at the Nintendo Shop Channel Store(?)

And of course we must ride the Yoshi-Go-Round, visit Bowser's Haunted Castle where Boo's resemble white PacMan(men) for some reason, and for the parents that want to relax and let your children get lost, you have the Wii Vitality Center where they...too explicit.

Welcome to Konga Land(?) where you must ride the Mine Kart Koster(not as fun as you thought) and see that REAL banana peels are all over the ground! Once you get to the Hyrule area you notice that its just a 500yard area of grass that only had illusionist props that made you think you were actually walking toward Goron Mountain and the random stands only sell you Deku Seeds(walnuts) and warm milk!

F-Zero bumper cars!!!!!...was   just    like    regular    bu   mp er cars, (yawn).

Whats this on the ground? why those are Pikachu foot prints, I'd know them any where, you follow them all through the park to the biggest PokeBall gate ever and a Pikachu is holding a sign that says "Poke Park shall be opened once you defeat the Elite Four"(under construction)

As you and your family call it a day and your 6 year old sister has been scarred for life after seeing 100 6ft tall Pikmin try to get her to stop crying and every one is carrying around giant Porky Minch'sbecause there's a Mario shortage, you have this weird feeling..........did you see Luigi?

Meh...(sorry had to do it)

These games are always a solid offering, especially if your a big NFL fan but the purchase the year behind method works for me, as soon as the new one is on the horizon, the old one drops to $30 brand new from your local retailer. Brand new will be more important from now on....

The cooler this game sounds the more I see it Bouncin over to the other consoles.

These modes have Trophy/Achievements written all over it.

I want this for my Wii soooo bad but I also want to compare my score and compete with friends with ease online. YES that is possible on the Wii but being the top of 3,000 and 300,000 people is a BIG difference.

................ I don't wanna be that guy but are they about to sell me Wii Skyward Resort: on Hyrule Island + Link? I LOVE WiiSR and Zelda, but instead of one of those " You got Chocolate in my Peanut Butter" moment. It might be more like "You got Mustard in my Lemonade".

Both perfect for a picnic, but not quite at the same time.

I understand that the team that did WiiSR was used to directly transpose these controls but couldn't they just have used that team to create similar ideas instead? You know....NOT be LAZY.... :P:

Hmmm,

Ya see this guy(Shuhei Yoshida) has a disconnect from this guy(Kazou Hirai, the Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. Chairman)

He is talking about the Sony PlayStation's division competition when he deals with a much broader aspect as the head of all things Sony.

Just like Ian Sane said, Yoshida-san sounds like a fool for even trying to talk up what Nintendo should/shouldn't be saying about the 3D that HE's invested in. He needs to worry about making SONY 3DTV's practical before AVOL creates a half price version thats available at WalMart.

The Stero-whatchacallit 3D is not comparable to this Para-sumthin 3D, just market them as two different sides of the spectrum.

General Gaming / Re: So I got a PS3, now what?
« on: July 09, 2010, 12:55:03 PM »
Fine then.  Infamous, Batman: Arkham Aslym (if you don't own it already on 360), Split/Second, Flower, Shatter, Trine, Uncharted 2, Alone in the Dark (PS3), Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time.

What HE said, plus Joe Danger it's a PSN Download. Super SFIV is a personal fav. The original Uncharted is worthy as well. You might wanna be careful of LittleBigPlanet if you have played MarioG2, the only similarity is platforming but...... platforming, cool game though........ platforming.

Other advice, get a new HD. It'll handle a 500GB but the PS3 you have is a early model so I wouldn't go there, a 250G laptop HD is good enough. It can also play almost any format of video that you can put on a thumb drive unlike the 360, so watch all your pirated media on your big screen.... not that your a pirate(ARRRRR!).

It also sucks in a lot of dust in the front vents of the console so vacuum that succa out once in a while. Prepare for madd firmware updates for the console and even for launch titles, yeah Day 1 patches............ aaaaand there slow.

Yeah 199.99 sweet spot for early adapters and a spring break prize for the spoiled brat(me).

It'll have some pre-loaded stuff like with the DSiManHands in it's release quarter and the next quarter it'll have a kick a$$ pack in for the same price for those of us that have more patience than Mr. Jones.

TalkBack / Re: Price Drop for DS Coming Soon to Japan
« on: June 02, 2010, 06:51:57 PM »
$182 for a DS Lite? Man, what is Nintendo thinking? They are $130 here (and have been since it was released).

There not "thinking" any thing. After growing up in Detroit MI, and visiting Ontario,Canada quite a bit in my teen to to adult years, and now have been stationed all over the world..... North America gets luxuries at a waaaaay lower price especially when our dollar is so week now. Expendable income is a slightly different concept in places like Japan, Europe and the UK.

Just yesterday I went to a car audio store to purchase a wiring harness for my amp at a Japanese store. The harness was 6,090Yen($66.88). But then I found a higher quality one on my military installation for $50(4,553Yen) huge diffrence.

But any way it looks like Europe and the United Kingdom is getting the same treatment according to Official Nintendo Magazine.

Yo I got every episode of Captain N digitally, if anybody want em' I'll get it to you.... somehow, just PM me.

Zelda: Twilight Princess is a good example of why a company shouldn't listen to its fans.

You mean they shouldn't make one of the greatest games of all time and one that sells millions of copies?

Nah I think she was referring to how soooo many "fans" was disappointed at the LOOK of Wind Waker so the next console outing scrapped that look and went after the "adultish" look that wowed us in Ocarina of Time.

Buuuut back to Sonic, I wonder if the iPhone version will be identical to the console versions. If so, will they all carry the same price tag?

For some strange reason I dont feel inclined to play this game. Liked it for the NES all the way to The Two Thrones........ yeah yeah I know, but I liked it. Didn't play the 2008 version either due to those wonderful reviews.

With this one being so close to and maybe tied into the movie, I don't think it will have the IT factor of the Prince of Persia games of the past. And with the Walt Disney tag I'm sure this title wont hit the bargain bin either. Used it is..... oh wait am I allowed to say that?
