General Gaming / My First Person Dilemma....
« on: December 01, 2010, 04:56:31 PM »
Yessss! Black Ops is here! Zombies are back, crazy Single player story, multiplayer is as loaded as ever!!  bu but but wasn’t my panties all in a bunch cause I had to order MoH because my local military exchange wouldn’t carry it….. Taliban blah  blah…….. but I’m still playing that too, the multiplayer is a lot like BFBC2. But how does one concentrate on one and not the other and stay proficient in both? Whats that you say….pick a side and hold my allegiance, sorry my friend, my fanboy days are over. Plus I just purchased an XBOX 360, I know I know but I had to stop discriminating and make my self a more well rounded gamer.

Which brings my dilemma to a head, I now have Halo 3: ODST and Reach to experience aaaaaaand I just bought a little something that is titled to be the best value in gaming today… THE ORANGE BOX!!!!…. and I was never a PC gamer so all of those titles are new to me and are “must play’s”. Additionally with titles like Bioshock 2 and Dead Space Extraction, Left for Dead 2, and Prime Trilogy all still on my shelf waiting to played, I have some decisions to make.

What shall I play first? second or third or even at all?. Which do I put a side, do I let a title like Halflife 2 go un played for any longer? Portal is supposed to be one of the G.O.A.T.!! but everybody and their momma is playing CoD, what will my PS3 friends think. Achievements are cool and Nintendo doesn’t care what i accomplish but Beyond that, I NEED TROPHIES!!! but The Orange Box I own is for the 360, yeah it’s on PS3 as well but11.99 @amazon.com, how do you pass that up?  And ‘only my FPS’s(and yes I included Metroid Prime in that category, get over it geek)

Plus I still have Uncharted 2, No More Heroes 2, Final Fantasy 5/6, Shatter, Scott Pilgrim, Vanquish, DJ hero, Greenday Rock Band and soo many more that I’ve purchased seemingly to only weigh down my TV stand. Mr Diamond J must be my idol. Oh and did you notice that Christmas is right around the corner which means lots of last season’s block busters will be in the mark down bin ready for my pickinz. Am I of the few to be in a situation like this or am I joined by those that has back slid into the same type of situation? Help….

General Gaming / Medal of Honor...... Still Too Soon?
« on: October 08, 2010, 10:12:30 AM »
I know this is old but I've been away from the site and I wondered if any of you all had any opinions on this topic.......

I have been a U.S. Marine for the last 10 years and I'm also a serious gamer. I think that the Medal of Honor ban is a bit overboard. I do know that EA has now removed the name Taliban from the game and switched it to "Opposing Forces", but I think there is still a problem present. Here in Japan our local Base Exchange(department store), will not be selling this title because of the former Taliban multiplayer option. I've been to Iraq and Afghanistan a total of four times, so I understand how the "War on Terror" effects the families and friends of those who serve. My wife and children could explain a little as well.  Sadly I've seen my  leadership and and close friends die in these wars.

With that said, it's O.K. to shoot Germans, Vietnamese, Japanese, Bolivian, Cubans, British soldiers, Canadians and oh wait other Americans in many many other games to date. Veterans as far back as World War I are still alive and kickin, have we not disrespected the sacrifices that they and their families had made? As most of you may know, there is a convoy simulator, developed by the U.S. Army,  where we play as "dudes with towels wrapped around their heads , speaking Persian accents" against each other. T.V. and movies can get away with  playing the bad guy, why, because it's not "interactive", insert eye roll here. This type of reaction will make it so that games like "Fight For Fallujah" will never happen because we're scared of what, Now? "World Trade Center", "United 93", "Generation Kill", "Over There", "The Hurt Locker" and many more movies have people who portray the "enemy" of today. Are they unpatriotic for doing so?

The [url=www.pantagraph.com/news/national/article_cbe87626-b1f3-11df-846c-001cc4c002e0.html]upset Mother from San Jose[/url] has every right to mourn her son's death and be proud of the CHOICE he made to serve his country, but she shouldnt impose that guilt on the gamers to feel bad about possibly playing as a real world "bad guy", again what actors do all the time. I have seen what we call "the enemy" and truthfully(this will sound harsh) she nor her son knew exactly who's hand he died by, be it Al-Qaida, Taliban, or some dude trying to protect his home, as we would if the tides were turned......

Maybe I miss the point on why this was inherently bad but the last nine years of my life has been shaped by this conflict and if it's one thing I've learned it's that there is always something bigger than self. Thoughts?

General Gaming / EA plans to stick it to da man...or us...
« on: May 19, 2010, 05:46:02 AM »
On the PS3 and Xbox 360 beginning in June with Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 11, EA Sports launches Online Pass.

This means if you buy your Madden day 1, you are unaffected and will enter the one time use code that comes in the box, but those late adaptors that want to get that 5 dolla discount at GameStop will have to acquire this code via your online network(Live/PSN).

Which would mean you'll actually pay 64.99 instead of 59.99 unless GameStop makes a special adjustment to their EA Sports titles. And you can be sure that the GameStop EA Sports current year titles wont go down till the next year's game is on the shelf but that 10 dolla stipend will still exist to get on the server. Andrew Wilson the Senior VP of World Wide Development answered a few questions here

Now I think this is a good move for ANY publisher, let's not scowl because its EA. This way with all of those second hand purchases, if you want the online stuff and use the server that Costs Money to keep em' running you gotta pay to get in......

I think XBOX 360 owners that likes the used market for these games might wanna flip out because they already pay for online service and now they gotta pay sum mo!!

What about the Wii? Is that online audience not worth charging :@ , (I'm offended) Will the "ever so courteous" GameStop employees warn un-knowing mothers of this??(ppffftt)

But will this turn into a bigger problem/"solution"?????  Will Capcom begin to charge with their online titles, starting with.....hmmm Marvel vs. Capcom 3??? Activision not allowing online bands in Guitar Hero 58............

What say you NWR???

Nintendo Gaming / All Pokewalkers arent created equaly....
« on: April 21, 2010, 11:10:05 PM »
I have the wondrous opportunity to play alot of games with my son(he's 10) and we've been doing the Pokemon thing together ever since the FireRed and LeafGreen GBA releases. So of course we were both super excited for the HeartGold/SoulSilver games. I picked the less sought after HeartGold and he, the latter.

Now the Pokewalker is the new addition that has been all the rave. I go an a 3-4 mile run every morning at 0500 and you bet I take it with me(along with the baggage of having a pokeball strapped to my hip) and I get about 6000-6500 steps with mine on that run alone....but one day I grabbed my son's by mistake and I had 8653 steps???? I take the same route during the course of a week.

So with my Curious George instinct I took both of them together on the same run for the last two days and his always has about 2000-2700 more steps!!!!

Is mine defective? Is His? Plus his always has the random Pokemon appearing in his, I have yet for that to happen..(so I'm jealous)

I also spoke with two friends that also have the game but they both have SoulSilver(go figure) and they both say they average 15,000 a day!!!!

Does any one else have this type of disparity??? or am I the lonely soul that has the Gold....
