If the debate is between Ursula and Maleficent, I think you all are seriously underestimating Snow White's Queen.  I mean sure Maleficent wanted Sleeping Beauty dead, but how bad can it be to die of a pricked finger?  Snow White's Queen requested for Snow White to be murdered and have her heart cut out and put into a box!  And she had some pretty wicked magical powers as well.  She's a nasty piece of work and the first of the Disney 'wicked stepmother' club.

Oh ooops.  Again, not sure what the argument is.  If it's 'which character is usually  played by a man in the parks because the costume is too big for most any woman' then the answer is Ursula.  It's all about context.

SilverGrey loves Disney, so she can be my friend.

Maybe she can help solve our Ursula VS Maleficent argument. ;)

Not sure what the argument is............but generally the answer is Maleficent.

SilverGrey, I believe we walked past it and were able to peer inside, but I'm not going to guarantee that :p

I will say it was one of our better, more enjoyable Disney trips, and we, as a whole group, haven't had as much fun since.  That's mostly because everyone but my father has grown worn down on the normal routine, so it made an excellent change of pace.  This year we did a Segway tour of Ft. Wilderness in order to change things up, which was a lot of fun.  We also went to that musical revue dinner show in Ft. Wilderness, and while the food was good, personally, I didn't much enjoy the show.

Anyways, it is a gigantic place, that couldn't be stated any more clearly!  I don't really think that much ground could be called a small town!  There's four main theme parks, probably tens of large hotels, Downtown Disney, which is the size of a small theme park itself, the cruise ship program, and who knows what I've forgotten.  I wouldn't guess any one employee would know any other unless they directly work with each other, myself.

Yeah, it's a pretty massive operation, largest single-site employer in the US, which is nice because nearly all the businesses in Orlando offer Cast discounts so I miss that when I want to like.....buy shoes or order pizza or get a new cell phone plan that I don't get discounts on every thing imaginable.  As far as people knowing each other, there's a lot of movement within the company on the front-lines so you get to know a lot of people that way, but once you get up to Management and Administration you tend to sit for years (unless Disney decides to downsize and condense like last year when they got rid of half the managers for my area).  It is probably one of the weirdest places in the world to work, and it's inhabited by very weird people as well, it almost has to be.  If your dad likes the tours you could always set him up on the 7 hour Backstage Magic tour that is behind-the-scenes for 3 of the 4 parks.

That makes sense.  And if I ever know of someone who's looking to buy a brand-new copy of Eternal Darkness.......I know just where to send them (if they want to spend $50 for it).

I saw a copy of Eternal Darkness among other games for sale a while back with a sticker on it that said 'Play's on Wii!'. I assumed at the time it was a re-release but maybe those were just old games with stickers to try and sell them off finally to the 'new market'.

Agreed.  I believe last time I checked to see if these games were still there (it's like a compulsion if I happen to be in town and at the Walmart) they also had those stickers on them.  I started laughing and the lost-looking mom next to me gave me a weird look.  I then offered to help her since she looked so lost and she seemed to like me better then.  I still think the 'Plays on Wii!' stickers are funny, but that's because I would probably stick them on Wii games to see if anyone noticed.

A retail wouldn't hold a game for 5 years (without it continually turning I.E. Galaxy) because it takes up space for them to be selling something else to their customer that will turn.

I agree with this, but just wanted to mention something weird that's bothered me for a few years.  The Walmart in the town where I went to college has 3 Gamecube games in the case with the Wii games that they are still selling for $50.  And these 3 games have been in there a while because I noticed them almost 3 years ago.  Does anyone have any idea how normal that is because I think it's very very strange.

Do you know Greg or Plugabugz SilverGrey? Great Britain is a small Island.

I don't believe so, but I may have run across them when I used to live in London.

You work at Disney World, SilverGrey? Did you ever work with a guy named Luke Hammer? He is a friend of mine and a magician by trade now. I think he did the Summer College Internship multiple Summers a while back (he called it the College Slavery Work Program).

Name doesn't ring any bells, but I'm sure if I played the Six Degrees of Disney I'd know him through one person or another.  Working there is like working in the world's largest small town.  And ah yes, I am a former Slave myself, only recently graduated to being a 'real person'.  I'm not there full-time anymore, through several life circumstances I moved away for grad school and can't move back till the middle of next year, and who knows by then I may have other plans.  I miss the sunshine so much!  So I'm only there periodically for a week or so, it's fun to show up at a workplace you haven't been to in four months and have people not even realize you were gone.  Do you remember what sort of role he had when he worked there?  And is he really a magician?

I must confess that when I'm in the park as a guest, that's where I sit for the parade.  Who wouldn't want to sit where the air smelled like fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies?  Much more pleasant than some of the unwashed masses who frequent the Kingdom.  Smells like cinnamon rolls some mornings too.  And yes, the underground city that everyone is so anxious to see; too bad they don't take you to see some of the really weird stuff down there, like the head room.  It looks like a Disney massacre occurred in there.  Hope your dad enjoyed his tour though.  Did he like the Jungle Cruise?

Ever done a Keys to the Kingdom tour?  Somehow we managed to convince my dad to do something different for his birthday the year before this past one, and it was a unique bit of good fun, but not quite as "behind-the-scenes" as we'd like.  Still, if you're that avid a fanatic, it's something to consider!

Funny you should mention it, but as a Magic Kingdom Cast Member, I am the Keys to the Kingdom.  And if your family took the tour, you may have seen me, or at least many of the people I work with.  The Keys tour takes over my ride in the morning to show off our awesome backstage secrets.  What did you think of the Utilidors?  I love to go by the Keys tours down there and watch everyone looking around for Mickey or whatever other secrets they think the tunnels hold.  And yes, working there probably makes me as avid a fanatic as anyone gets.  If you want some more "behind-the-scenes" secrets, I'd be the one to ask.

I haven't played any Zelda before OOT, and I've never really played a handheld Zelda either.  So I already know I'm not as burnt out on the series as some people, it's just logical.  I have vague memories of watching my cousins play the older Zelda games, but all I really remember is them telling me 'don't touch'.

112
I'm more on the Disney side of the Orlando theme parks scene, and I have several people I flat out refuse to ride Buzz Lightyear with because they do know where all the high point targets are!  I should tell them they can hire themselves out for that purpose.  And yes, people do get desperate about weird things in theme parks.  You wouldn't believe the 'tips' about how to get your too-short kid onto a height-requirement attraction.  Or how to score a 'free salad' by using the toppings bar for burgers in restaurants.  The list goes on and on.

113
The thought of people being intimidated by me (especially video game people) is probably the most entertaining thing I have read all day.  I'm not here to intimidate anyone, I'm just here because I like games and occasionally have opinions about them.  But only occasionally.  And being part of a large group of guys with strong opinions doesn't scare me, my previous workplace took care of that.  As far as people taking the mickey on forums, eh the scariest forum I'm part of is the one inhabited by mothers planning Disney vacations, and trust me I have the burn marks to prove it.  That is one scary group of women.

Goodness I would hate a Zelda that was like that!
Of course I'm nervous I'm going to hate the 'fundamental departure' as it is.  But I guess I'm not as burnt out on the 'old' Zelda style as so many people tend to be (apparently).

You need to forge it when you purchase a forge.  And you then use the raw materials you got out of the rocks on Whale Island to upgrade your current Hammer.

Do I get to vote in this poll?  Or is that cheating?

The Cheap Hammer is no use on big rocks, as far as I'm aware.  You need a better hammer.

SilverGrey sounds like he has a topic for his first funhouse thread... *hint hint*

Actually the person who brought it up was you.....

119
And for my very first truly personal introductory comment........

SilverGrey is a SHE.

120
Nah, I think if you had to be part of a self-help group, it'd be much more fun to be part of one that played games.

121
Yay my group is already expanding!  Now your sister and I can commiserate over poor spatial-reasoning.  I blame the fact that I had zero exposure to games until I went away to college, and by that point we were already into the Gamecube era so I never experienced the typical side-scrolling game.  Anyhow, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.  See, it still sounds like a self-help group confession!

122
Really it's more that introductions always come off as sounding like you've joined some sort of self-help program.  Hi, I'm so-and-so and I'm here because I like video games.  I started playing video games a few years ago and so on and so forth.  My introductions go much better if someone wants to know something about me and thus asks.  Hey SilverGrey do you like Mario games?  Yes, in theory I do, but I am truly terrible at them and the thought of having to play co-op with someone where I could potentially kill them through my ill-timed jumps is a rather frightening thought.  I seem to suffer from inability to jump onto a moving platform, if only there was a self-help group to join for that.

123
So am I going to be considered rude that in the thread slated for introductions I have said nothing that could qualify as introductory about myself?  Other than calling you all intimidating, that is.

If I were drunk I'd be seeing Pink Elephants, not purple ones.  Disney even wrote a whole song about it!  You learn a lot from watching Dumbo....

And man pokemon sound like ornery little buggers the way you describe them, maybe that's why I never learned how to play.  Someone tried to teach me once and it reminded me too much of the time someone else tried to teach me how to play Magic.  I've since learned to be cautious if someone starts out by saying 'oh let me teach you how to play! It's so easy!'

Wow, an automated feeding system.  I like it!  So much easier than Harvest Moon.  All my animals were mad at me on that farm too.  Through video games I have discovered that my future career should not lie in farming.  I quite like animals though, ask any of the animals in my World of Zoo....zoo (awkward phrase) because they are all very happy with me.  My monsters seem alright despite not having been fed (directly or indirectly) I brush them every day and they seem happy.  They won't do any of their jobs though, which is fine because I can take care of things on my own for now.  So I effectively have monster squatters on my land since they don't do anything.  One of them is supposed to gather rocks and I hope it later becomes apparent of what use that is supposed to be.  Does he really bring rocks?  And one of the other monsters seems to have no use whatsoever, so I feel bad for him (it?).  Okay, I think I'm finished psychoanalyzing my monster population for now, except for the little purple elephant that doesn't seem to want to live with the rest of the monsters, were they mean to him or something?  Now I have monster thugs?
