Nintendo Gaming / Re: NWR Community Game of the Month - March 2013
« on: April 04, 2013, 11:04:37 PM »
I think it would have been best to have just a "Best Wii U game of the Month."  Keep the post where it is in the Nintendo Console Discussion forum.

The Amazing Spider-Man: Ultimate Edition (you missed this one)
Lego City Undercover
Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate
Need for Speed: Most Wanted U
The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct (you missed this one)
Zen Pinball 2 (you missed this one)

Then post a "Best 3DS game of the Month" in the "Nintendo Handheld Discussion forum."

Kersploosh!
ATV Wild Ride 3D
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate
Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate
HarmoKnight
Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed
Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity

Reminds me of comments made by Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli.

"We did have Crysis 3 running on the Wii U," Yerli said. "We were very close to launching it. But there was a lack of business support between Nintendo and EA on that. Since we as a company couldn’t launch on the Wii U ourselves--we don’t have a publishing license--Crysis 3 on Wii U had to die."

Awesome. I've been meaning to turn my Wii U on to update Trine 2 (which I don't know how to do yet). I'll have more of a reason to when this update goes live next month.
All games/apps on the Wii U automatically check for updates when the game/app is launched (clicking on the icon).

79
Since I plan to get a Wii U in the next few months (sadly, my financial situation has stopped me from getting one yet), does anyone know if that big day one update will be pre-installed on newer Wii U's?

And hopefully this firmware update will give people one less thing to criticize about the system.
Yep.  Sometime in 1st quarter 2013, new Wii U consoles will start shipping with the latest system software (there have been two additional system software updates since the big one on Nov 18th).

80
I heard of a couple other people online having crashes, but it has been smooth for me. Out of curiosity, is your system resolution set to 720p or 1080p?

1080p

Just for grins, why don't you try setting it to 720p and see how it behaves? I've heard of some people having peformance issues at 1080p

No difference with resolution change.  I was able to play for an hour this afternoon and encountered a hard lock/game crash.

Alex Ward on twitter says they are looking into the hard lock issues, but they are not seeing the issue on their dev or test kits.

I saw they same excuse from Gaijin Games in response to the hard lock issues with Runner 2 (apparently, they found the issue and the upcoming Runner 2 patch resolves this).

We now have two development studios stating hard locking issues with their games are not occurring on dev/test units and only on retail Wii Us.

What is different between the dev/test kits and the retail Wii Us and if there is a difference, why are the devs not testing the final game on retail Wii Us?

Seacor, this is the first time I've heard of this.  Are you using system internal memory or an external HDD?  If external, does it have its own power source or is it using the USB port to power it?

I downloaded to system memory (I have deluxe 32GB Wii U console) and have 11 GB available.  I have not purchased a USB hard drive yet.

83
I don't know folks.  I don' t think this game is playable.

Downloaded (to system memory) from eShop last night.  I have played on and off for about three hours today and the game keeps randomly crashing with a loud buzzing sound.  The only way to reset the console is to pull the Wii U power cable.  This has happened to me four times now.

First game crash: Exiting the in-game Miiverse posting
Second game crash: Randomly driving through the city
Third game crash: Launched game and after pressing + or touchscreen to start - it crashed during the game loading screen
Forth game crash:  During a race (non-multiplayer)

The fact that a crash may happen during a race, makes this game unplayable as you lose your progress/stats during that race and of course have to start over AND have to pull the Wii U power cable to reset.

I posted on the EA tech support forums about this big issue. Hopefully a community manager will respond.

This needs a patch and ASAP!

84
FYI - Download file size is 6137 MB

85
I see Mike Sklens and Berto2k up in the Origin Hizzay. Who else is online with NFSMWU?

I'll be purchasing this as soon as I get an external hard drive for my Wii U (hopefully in the next couple of days).

Downloading now!

The back of the COD Black Ops 2 Wii U case states:

Add On Content

If they do not release DLC for the Wii version, they have misrepresented the product.

That sucks you have had a bad experience.  Luckily, I have not encountered any of the issues you listed.

The only issue that I have encountered (Three times so far) is that when the GamePad powered on, it fails to power on the Wii U console.  I have to push the power button on the Wii U console.

Nintendo Gaming / Call of Duty: Black Ops II

I am very impressed with Black Ops II.  The last Call of Duty game I played was Call of Duty 3 (2006).  Theater mode is cool.  It was neat to discover that it records your entire gameplay session and allows you to go back and watch, edit and share gameplay clips and screenshots with the community.  Looks like there are a lot of multiplayer features that I suspect existed in the previous version (on 360/PS3), but they are new to me.

Anyone figured out voice chat?  I am using my iPhone earphones/mic and I can hear other people talk through the earphones, but don't know if they can hear me.  I do see a speaker icon light up next to my name when speaking or if my game volume is up loud.  I don't know if the mic on the gamepad is being used or the headphones mic.  Are there any options as far as increasing/decreasing mic sensitivity?  All I have found is one setting which is to enable or disable voice chat.

I finally found a Wii U !!

My ID is:   Seacor

Yes!  This is great news.  I was worried a few months ago when one of the game trailers came out and didn't reference Wii U.

I had the same thing happen Seacor but I was considerably farther along when I lost the data. My main character was pretty much done as far as sets go but I was just looking for certain talis.I was HR480 at that point but I got back playing and I am up to HR 110 now. That was back in April. If you kept playing I think you would have been higher then my current character and likely more well equipped then my current one. I have no problem playing on Monday,Tuesday and Wednesday nights.

I'm in a crunch at work for the next week, but would also be happy to play online with Seacor (and others) if it helps him quickly get to higher HR levels. Once you start getting better equipment, the single player campaign goes really quickly since you can burn through hunt quests. You'd be back up to your old HR level in no time!

Thanks all, but I think I am going to wait until 3G or 4 arrives before I start playing MH again.  Perhaps, with the new console they will allow you to actually backup the game save file or even better, auto backup to a cloud service.

I had an awesome time playing Monster Hunter Tri with many of the NWR forum members and staff (until my Wii crashed).  I had dedicated many hours to the game and reached the mid to high level 20s and my Wii crashed.  Nintendo was unable to recover any of my save data and I therefore I had lost all MH data (you can't backup MH data to SD card).  Unfortunately, I never played the game again as I did not want to start over from scratch and risk another hardware crash and data loss.

Nice job posting someones amazon affiliate link.  You see that reference number at the end?  ref=nosim/grubbergamer-20

That means grubbergamer will receive a commission if you purchase a WiiU.  Of course, you can't purchase a WiiU yet, but if you continue to shop through Amazon after clicking that affiliate link using the same web browser session and purchase something anywhere on Amazon, grubber gets 3-5% commission.

I recommend going to Amazon.com and searching for WiiU and not use a direct link OR just take off the reference information from the URL.

I lost my original save file when my Wii blew up a couple of years ago.  I just started over and unlocked the WFC mode.
