Very cool feature!  It's great when developers put extra effort into bonus/unlockable content.

I remember watching Metal Gear Solid Twin Snakes (Gamecube) demo theater mode.  Although, I don't recall those being stitched together and I recall having to swap discs.

That's awesome that you live close to Nintendo HQ! I   do too, but they have never allowed tours.

Hey Neighbor!  I guess I should of asked for some Nintendo plushies - they had a whole bin full of them.  I was in a state of shock, so didn't really know what to think at the time.

Nintendo really needs to improve their data management policies and allow the consumer to be able to save ALL their data for backup (or just automatically save it in Nintendo cloud storage). There should be a built-in utility that auto saves all data to SD card - similar to what the techs use.

I suspect they prevent online game save data from being saved to SD card as they are afraid of hackers modifying the data (pretty sure hackers have found a way around this anyway).  Limiting data backup for the legitimate consumer is NOT the correct approach to counter hackers.

S'alright, mate. I'm just glad you're still playing! So many members have disappeared...

Just stopping by to let you know why you have not seen me online in Tri.

My three year old Wii crashed a few weeks ago.  I drove up to Nintendo (only 30 minutes from me) with the Wii wrapped in a Spock burial robe to see if they could resurrect it or at very least recover my data.  An hour and half later the tech gave me the bad news.  They couldn't recover any of my data (game saves, Mii's, message board, photo channel images, friends in address book, game stats history).

They ended up providing me with a new Wii, a year warranty and no charge on the repair.

So, I lost quite a bit of data.  Many game saves that I failed to back up to SD card.  But, most saddening was the fact that I had lost the many game saves that Nintendo doesn't allow to be saved to SD card (Monster Hunter Tri, Smash Bros Brawl, The Conduit, Endless Ocean and I think Mario Kart to name a few).

I had around 120 hours invested in Tri and I just can't see my self starting over from scratch and building up a new character again.

I really enjoyed hanging out with many of you.  Well, see ya around and perhaps I'll meet up with some of you in other online games down the road.

Great news.  Anything that has the potential to improve controls is a positive in my book.  Hopefully, it will be turned on by default when the game detects you have Wii MotionPlus.  I enjoyed The Conduit and all of their efforts and passion that went into its development.  I am looking forward to learning about all the other improvements and new features for the sequel.

Everyone should turn on lobby chat which is found in the online options (it's off by default).  You will then be able to see players enter and leave the city, and view city chat.

I haven't tested this as I don't have a keyboard, but apparently you can use TAB to whisper people in the lobby. If you don't have a keyboard, you can use ZR on the classic controller.

I haven't been able to make time to play online for a couple of weeks.  I would like to finish up the last 2 or 3 quests in the 2 star quest tier (think it's just Gobul and Rathian kill/capture left).  Hopefully, there are still some that are working on those quests?  If not, I'll gladly help out on any of the 1 star tier quests.  I'll should be on around 6pm pacific.

There's a new event quest available now, where you have to remove all your armour and be in the nude in order to join. It might be a good idea if we separated the boys and girls for this one.

Cool!  So, apparently this game was designed to support DLC?  This new event quest allows you to make a new weapon - the Sharq Attaq lance.  The post also mentions more new weapons will arrive.

After Seacor and I were waiting for Armak, I had to go to bed.  Good times though!  We took out the Great Jaggi event quest.
I wasn't sure what was going on.  I joined the last quest you picked, but I didn't ring in quick enough before you departed.  You then abandoned the quest, so I thought you were going to start it up again, but Armak didn't come back.  So, I then warped over to thatguy and damsel to see if we could get the Royal Ludroth capture quest done for you, but you then logged.  Anyway, I had to run as well as I had to watch Lost as I wasn't sure if my nearly full DVR would record it all. :D

I'm frustrated with myself for dying too much, though.

Same here.  I helped hunt Barroth last night, but took a few too many rides on the kitty cart.  I got to know the kitty's pretty well and learned that one of them is good friends with one of my farm workers.  Apparently, Pepe has been saying some bad things about how I am running my farm.  I also found out that my kitty chef is putting powdered dung in my meals.

I have to figure out how to trap monsters, since some quests specifically ask for that.

The monsters generally start limping when near death.  At that time you set a trap (1 is provided in the quest box), and when the monster walks into the trap, you throw tranq bombs at it (also provided in the quest box).

If you mess up, you are out of luck unless you complete a sub-quest, which I think provides you another trap and set of tranqs.   You can also bring extra traps and tranqs with you before starting the quest.

Last night was a lot of fun!  It was great playing with you all.

I wish more than 4 players could join the same city.  They could of kept it 4 per quest, but allow 12 people or more to talk and form other quest groups in the same city.  They could of also used the City Gate as a lobby were everyone could meet up and chat.  Ah well...

One thing is for sure, Royal Ludroth can be a royal pain in the ***.

Yeah, I tried adding everybody last night and couldn't find anyone.  What's this Capcom ID that everybody's mentioning?  The only code I see is the "Capcom Support Code" on the Village/City selection screen.  Mine is:

H1178259766

I have no idea if this is useful or not.

That's a support code that I think you use if you have technical support issues.

Your Hunter ID is a 6 character code and can be found after you connect online and are asked to choose your player to enter the City Gate with OR if you are at a City Gate or in a City you can go to your Game Menu and select Status and get the ID.

I am still at a loss on adding anyone.  I suspect we'll all have to be online at the same time to find each other in order to send roster invites.

Got a hunter not found when I looked for your ID, Seacor

Looks like it found you, but it said you were not connected.  It appears that in order to send a message, that player has to be online.  This is strange.

Hmmm...

I can't find anyone listed here.  It looks like when you use Player Search, it won't find them unless they are actually online?  I tried Compose Message, but the only options are to send a message to the player's ID number or someone already on your friend roster. I don't see a way to send to a Player Name directly (unless you are already in a city with them and can use the chat log).

I think we should list our MH ID here as it's the only way to Compose a Message with invite to someone not already on your roster.  Your ID will be on the player select screen when you go online.

I am a bit disappointed with Widescreen support as the game is not filling in my entire 42" plasma display.   I have small black vertical bars on the left and right side of the screen (about an inch wide or so).  I don't have this issue with other Wii titles with widescreen support.

I've checked my settings and my Wii console is set for widescreen 16:9, my display panel is set for widescreen 16:9, the game is set for widescreen 16:9.

I was only online for about 30 minutes just to see how it worked and to visit the city.  I didn't join up with anyone in the city to go questing.

Well the game is out. Who managed to get the game?
Also if you have thw demo and the final game can you compare the two?

Purchased my MH3+Controller bundle from Best Buy.  It was the last bundle they had (not sure how many bundles they ordered).

I've played 4 hours of single player so far and it's NOTHING like the demo at all.  The demo is awful and doesn't show the depth and content the game really has to offer.  What they should of done is take the first 2-4 hours of the full game and package that as the demo.  If the demo left a bad taste in your mouth, give the full game a try.

I've connected online to check out the city, but only for about 45 minutes.  From what I saw, it's pretty cool.

I'm just about to leave for the store.  My only question is how do you register friends since there are no friend codes?  I want to play with people on the site but I haven't got anyone Wii system number yet.

There is no game friend code or need to obtain anyone's console number to add to your address book.  You can perform a search for any players name and then send a personal message to them with a request to add them to your in-game friend roster (note that you don't need to add anyone to your roster play with them).  So, as far as your friends in the forum, all you need to do is find out what their MH3 player name is and then you can search for them and send a message with a friend roster add request.

You can use the roster to see if your friend is online, their status, send a message or warp to the city they are in.  Pretty slick.

I'm really waiting for somebody to make a WiiSpeak headset.  I know I would buy one.
I really wish Nintendo provided the consumer an option to use a bluetooth headset on the Nintendo Wii voice chat service.
