I think Revelations was a great game, and have no problem with them charging $50 for the upgraded HD version.

Besides, it's bound to drop in price sooner rather than later.

"Easy Zelda II" kind of killed much of the interest for me.

I'll confess to my technical ignorance, so I'm not sure why that shouldn't cut both ways.

Ports and sequels the other way weren't economically either.

They were much, much less resource-intensive to make.

How do you figure?

If a Nintendo exclusive is successful, it goes multiplatform or its sequel does. It never sells well on Sony or Microsoft

If a Microsoft/Sony exclusive is successful, Nintendo never gets a port or the sequel.

The Wii got exclusives because it was almost impossible to port games from the other consoles to it. Sony and Microsoft don't get exclusives unless they're first party or moneyhats, and in both cases it's pretty self-explanatory why Nintendo doesn't get the sequels.

It might just be that we read it quite differently, but that doesn't really rebut ShyGuy's point: if anything, it seems to support it. The expense and hassle of porting a Wii game to the HD systems was too much to bother with for most successful 360/PS3 games, but the reverse was apparently untrue.

Admittedly, this "analysis" hinges on my reading "Microsoft/Sony exclusive" as meaning "not-on-Wii game." I could well be wrong there, and appeal to the source for a definitive ruling!

Spinoffs are Good Enough for Nintendo platforms.

De Blob 1 (Wii exclusive) -- success
De Blob 2 (multiplatform) -- studio shattering failure

Wii uDraw -- major success
Multiplatform uDraw -- publisher destroying failure

Sonic Colours (Wii exclusive) -- major success
Sonic Generation (everything under the sun BUT the Wii) -- respectable numbers but less than Colours

Hmmmm, i wonder what this all means...

That Wii games don't deserve sequels.

You had a good run, Virtual Console.

No get on the Wii U!

According to this article it's sounding like Sony may not wait for E3 to unveil their next console. I can see why they might want to do that, to get out ahead of Microsoft's announcement, but how do you think this affects Nintendo?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe any console has ever been first unveiled at E3. The juicy details are first released there, but the name and some other stuff usually come out before that.

Everyone loves tacos. They are delicious and amazing. Long live tacos.

I went 0 for 4 this weekend. Football sucks and I hates it.

I was originally going to try to test this site's language filter, but I'll instead try to come up with some sarcastic summary of the Packers' defense later on.

When did they say that? Because last week they tracked it (both).

It was brought up in the NeoGAF thread the other day. I took that comment at face value, since I don't recall anyone challenging it.

It's why I stopped visiting their site. And I find it interesting that the DS apparently sold no copies. Have all remaining systems been sold by now?

DS and PS2 are no longer being tracked by Famitsu/Media Create.

Supposedly.

Yet the PS2 still is. *shrug*

New Media Create numbers out. What happened to make the Vita sell? It doesn't even have a single game in the top thirty!

I don't suppose anyone here can see their way to trading for a bit of brown alpaca wool?

I think it'd be hilarious if dev costs rise so much, that it causes third-parties to all shut down. And the only studios left are Nintendo and those that support them. Microsoft and Sony wouldn't have anyone to make games for their consoles! Hah.

Well, Sony would be alright because they've spent a great deal of time over the last 2 generations strengthening their own studios. It would be Microsoft that would be hardest hit in your hypothetical scenario.

I don't think there's evidence that Sony alone can support any platform, or even be the cornerstone of any platform.

Grandia II should definitely be on your list. Fights in that game are just fun, and the main character is just fun for the first half of the game. I played the Dreamcast version, but I don't think the PS2 version suffered from any technical flaws.

I still expect a better performance from the Falcons than they put up in their last playoff game, though.

I actually felt pretty bad for Joe Webb yesterday. Yikes...

Anyone else mystified by why VC is still being released on the Wii?   1 month after Wii U launch?

Theoretically you could still play it on your Wii U too.

148
That wasn't even a game, it was a total massacre. On the one hand, thorough beatdowns can be enjoyable. On the other hand, a beatdown is less fun to watch when you were expecting an actual game.

Based on my understanding of bankruptcy law, whether WWE gets any of that money is entirely up the bankruptcy trustee. Since I believe the WWE is an unsecured creditor, my guess is that most, if not all, of that cash is going to go to other sources.

A good coach makes the best of what he's got, though. Unless you're arguing that the Bears' O-Line players have consistently been some of, if the not the, worst in the league for several years, in which case why on Earth would you decide to hire Mike Martz as your OC? It'd be like Wisenhunt taking a look at his QB stable and deciding to try an offense based on the long ball, or the Bills frequently going Wide 9 on defense.
