Nintendo Gaming / Re: Mario & Luigi:Bowser's Inside Story

I guess in my search for Bowser I came across the optional boss, who was completely unexpected to be Shroobs. I also feel like I'm missing another overworld technique that helps me scale dirt walls, but I can't find it anywhere.

Yup, if I had to say, it feels like the game didn't go through testing.  Am I the only one who finds it really didn't seem finished?
I kinda agree. The controls for manipulating objects feel loose and clunky. Getting Max to do the right things or even move accurately is a nightmare.

I'm about 14 hours into the game. It definitely is on par, maybe better than M&LSS. But, it's starting to feel shorter than both games. I got all the Star Cures and I have gotten into Peach's Castle, but I haven't freed Bowser yet from the safe. I think one of my top favorite bosses so far is Bowser Memory ML.

I always switch back and forth between the stylus and buttons in Pokemon Platinum, so I think that Okami on DS would suit my needs well. However, I haven't touched Okami on Wii for 8 months... I ought to get back to it.

The Black Wii Remote would excite me if I didn't have 4 Remotes already. I also have two Nunchuks and MotionPluses, so I can't see myself using a new one. The pricing for Wii Fit Plus is very reasonable; I shall pick it up when it comes out.

I have been listening to RFN's podcasts while at work for the past few weeks or so (to help pass the time), but I actually could not listen to this one. TYP, did you have a sore throat or something? Somehow, your voice made the back of my mouth dry, and I couldn't stop coughing and trying to clear my throat for 15 minutes after listening to you speak. I had to cut the podcast and move back to my other ones.

The only time I've ever seen the Wii Remote need to be placed down in videos is right before the Skydiving intro. Every other time I've seen it needs to be pointed at the screen, which is all right with me.

As a side note, I'd think that if M+ is being used in LoZWii, calibration could be done whenever the player opens a door (which is often, from what I've seen in TP), or when the player opens a menu.

What I think is the major problem with Brawl's online is that Brawl looks too good, and the game play requires very fine accuracy. There is a compromise between accuracy and fast-processing time.

Mario Kart Wii has its drawbacks: first, the graphics mirror that of the GameCube, so the art design, whether it be in local play or online play, is uniform, unlike The Conduit, which apparently had its graphics toned down and made ugly compared to the rest of the game for online. Second, when playing online there is a lag between player and item collision, but given Mario Kart's luck-based game play, it's doable and appropriate. Because more processing power was given to handling 12 players from anywhere in the world rather than excellent graphics and direct hits, it is a very smooth online, with no bad lag or slowdown.

Brawl on the other hand, was made to take full advantage of the Wii's hardware for local multiplayer, more or less. Thus backgrounds are busy and bursting with activity. Even the stages with no obstacles have a lot going on. And Brawl requires accuracy. Without it, punches would fly straight through characters. Thus, Brawl has a laggy online since only is it processing actions from up to 4 consoles around the world, the events that follow, and the surplus of detailed, busy graphics. If the developer was be able to give Brawl an online that does not compromise graphics and accuracy for fast processing time but still have smooth online no matter what, it would be a miracle.

I've played Half-Life 2 on a friend's PC and BioShock on my roommate's 360, and I prefer the dual-analog. I always felt the pin-point accuracy on PC was disorienting somehow, with the camera moving so quickly. I also dislike that if I move the mouse too far I must put it back somehow that it'll be comfortable.

I played World of Goo on Wii and tried the demo on my Mac, and the Wii Remote feels a lot more natural than a mouse cursor. I found my reaction time to be a lot faster using the Wii Remote.

I had lunch with a gangster because I'm cool like that.

That GameTrailers review did a lot of bitching about depth. All of WSR's games look pretty fun. The only one that doesn't look like it has great staying power is the Waveboard, but I haven't seen enough of it to make a valid judgment.

I dreamed recently that I got to try out Super Mario Galaxy 2. I recall that the level I played in, which was the first level in the game, was set on a sort of mountainside in a grassy theme similar to the Gusty Garden Galaxy, and it was pretty hard because there were a lot of platforms that were rotating. I also recall that the hub in the game (I couldn't tell if it was Rosalina's new observatory or something) had a very oriental/Indian feel to it, like I was walking around Taj Mahal with an open roof, showing all the stars in the sky.

But who is she exactly? Is she an ancient descendant of Peach?
I hope you mean "ancestor," because that seems to make more sense, given that Rosalina is hundreds of years old...  :P

Ugh, hackers everywhere! I wish Nintendo WFC had some sort of built-in hack protection that sees consoles whose game codes are being screwed with.

I'm fine playing battle.

I'd like to see slide levels that operate like roller coasters, with curves that move upward, with the gravity holding Mario on. Although that might create nausea after a while.

There are the obstacles in the trailer that Yoshi uses his tongue to swing from. The player uses the Wii Remote pointer to grab these things, like the Pull Stars.
