I just made a 61-footer in Challenge mode.  But I did not get my trophy.  >:(

Is it because I was in challenge mode?  Or maybe the putt was actually on the fringe, and didn't count as a putt?  ???

It showed up in course records as a 61-foot putt.

For everyone that owns this game, what is your longest putt?

54 foot.  On the first or second day.  Just need one more foot for that darn trophy ball.   >:(

Odd. You praise the nunchuck grenade launching.  After nearly killing myself 2-3 times I switched controls to get rid of it.  :o

Definitely annoyed with the checkpoints.  I cleared out a room with 3 switches, each triggering an ambush.  Finally get out of the room, down the hall through several doors.  And then there's another room with an ASE key, and 3 conduits full of enemies... with no checkpoint between.  ???

Anyway I was on vacation last week so just picked up my copy this morning.  Looks like I might finish single player tonight, although I only got maybe 2/3 of the discs and like 1/5 of the secret messages.  So definitely some completion-ist replay there.

It definitely looks and controls great though.  Very reminiscent of MP3 in that respect.

I don't wanna say it because I think Natal is stupid, but Natal Golf might remedy my problem with this. It could your golf swing accurately.

Yeah, if Natal really is sensitiive enough to actually pick that up accurately consistently, and if you have your own set of golf clubs to scan in and a living room big enough to swing them in without breaking things.

We discussed something similar in the other Tiger Woods topic here.

Basically the game doesn't analyze your swing path.  Back and forward yes.  Wrist twist for hook or slice, yes.  But swinging outside-in or inside-out, not at all.  Club head impact, not at all.

Those of you who, like me, play real golf, will know what I mean.  You can swing outside in and pull a ball off to the left.  (Sometimes a slice can even correct that a little bit).  Or you hit the ball out on the toe of the club and get a really fat shot that doesn't get full distance.

The thing is with motion plus this is probably possible too.  You'd have to get to a point where maybe you throw down a ball in front of you and pretend to hit it every time, and they measure the path of your swing, the angle at impact, and some other things.  Basically from your "starting point" and how close you come back to that as you swing.

Whether TW11 will take the next step and make a really advanced swing is probably up to how much TW10 sells.

So get out there and buy it.  ;D

Because so far it's the best golf game that has ever been made.

Just a warning that Gamestop often increases prices for those 2 for 1 weekends.  A game that might have been used for $19.99 last week will go up to $24.99, and so on.

Be best to check regular prices for new on Amazon before you go in there.  Or after, and then go back if it is actually a deal.

Especially the Square DS games, are somehow regularly $40, so GS will sell a used one for $35 or $30, which is the regular new price everyday on Amazon...

Just be careful, don't get ripped off.  ;D

And when you compare a classic like Caddyshack to a clunker like Caddyshack 2 and a moderate action flick like Charlies Angels' to a complete crapfest that is CA2...

Well Bill seems like a pretty smart guy.  ;D

To do a Wii related example next, We Ski also received poor advertising and yet it managed to sell a million copies and get a sequel a few months later.

That's a very different thing.  When Wii Ski came out there was no other game that used the Balance Board.  Only it and WiiFit.  So you had millions of WiiFit owners looking for something else to play, and it was the only option.

There's no special reason for people to be interested in this game.  I check Amazon regularly for new releases, deals of the day, etc, and I never saw this one either.  ???

Rogue Squadron Wii could be anything. It could be that, it could be a tech demo for #4, it could be an actual running version of #4, or it could be a Metroid Prime Trilogy-esque NPC/Wiimake of the first 3 Squadron games.

I'd play any of those.  ;D

And Mario Power Tennis NPC for Wii is the Amazon deal today.  $20 instead of $30.

Seems to be a Nintendo week.

EDIT: So the current time-limited gold box special is The Quest Trio for $12 for the next 3 hours..

Well still no dice from EA Support.  They are worthless. I think it's a TCP issue with my campus ethernet.  But EA can't even tell me which ports the one part of the game uses.

Of course since I can play Rock Band 2, also an EA game, and both manuals list what ports are used... well there's only one range of ports different between the two.  So I talked with campus IT today and maybe we'll get something worked out later this week with those ports.

Meanwhile, I'll just keep on winning and probably be at 80% or higher on all stats by the time I get to play you guys.

You must visit the salon before you can visit my town. No one with sloppy hair is allowed in.

Can I wear my Samus helmet instead?  ;D

My wife has been wanting to play for a while and drug me back into it this week.  I happen to enjoy my bedhair.  ;D

We came back just in time for the DLC Fri I guess.  We also got our DSi in the mail still from a while back.  Guess it's good I keep WiiConnect on.

Anyway if people around here are still playing I guess I'll dig up my friend code and see if anyone wants to visit or let me visit.

Yeah I saved mid-round on the 2nd tournament in career today to break for food.  But it will be a while before I reach Fed Ex cup at the end of the year.  I don't see why that should be different.  ???

I dunno. Save and quit is an option when I'm in a round.  Don't just have to be on the tee either, it's there the whole hole it seems like.

Yeah I wonder who they had playtesting this thing.  As soon as I started challenges, when there was one I realized I couldn't pass part of the way through I wanted to restart.  But having to quit and reload the same challenge is annoying.  Not being able to choose frisbee color on disc golf seems like another no-brainer.  Just a few little annoyances like that that bother me and keep the game from being perfect.

As for pass the wiimote play, yeah it works in all normal modes and disc golf as well.  And I think in all the arcade modes, and the T-I-G-E-R mode.   It does not work in the specific "party" mode mini games.  It tells you you need more than one wiimote.  It sounds like the party thing is more like a collection of minigames that you earn points for and some simultaneous ball tug-of-war thing in there.

EA Support responded with the usual bull about checking my ports and stuff.  I ran the Nintendo tool they suggested as well and it says my network is fine.  And since Mario Kart, Smash, Guitar Hero, and Rock Band all work online, I'm really annoyed with their basic support so far.

I mean the online store in career of TW10 works!  But the Online button on the main menu will never connect.  They could at least tell me what the difference is between the two connections so maybe I could figure out what's wrong.  >:(

Well the target zone is where the ball ends up after the shot, not where it lands.  Your woods and generally 1-5 irons have a very low trajectory, and to end up where the circle is will land several yards in front of the circle.  You lower 6-9 irons, and all of your wedges will have a very high trajectory, and generally land pretty close to the front of the circle.

So if you're driving the 18th at Pebble Beach, you should be aiming to the right side of the fairway giving your ball plenty of space to land.

Or you could try all-play mode, which actually is supposed to show your ball's flight path.  At least that will help visualize what I'm describing.

Anyway, I got eagle that hole last night in one of the challenges with my created golfer.  So it's not that bad.  ;D

I'm still working on challenges.  The easy ones are doable with low stats.  And some of the medium ones as well.  Now I'm at 50-60% on most stats, and have finished all easy and 10/16 medium challenges.  After that I might finally start tournament play, or I might do the hard challenges.  Probably will try a round and see if I shoot well.

When I tried playing a tournament round right after creation I got really frustrated after the first 2 holes and decided to quit.

So looking forward to trying it with some more skills now.

Well in the created player, you have 8 custom animations to choose from for good/bad reactions.  So 16 total.  But you don't have to select all 8.  So if you wanted you could just set the 2 club breaking ones or the 2 ripping the head off ones for your only bad reactions.  Then pretty much every time you missed a putt or got a bogey or worse, your guy should do that.  ;D
