Nintendo Gaming / RE: Resident Evil HELP!!!!

it's inside the machine just to the side of the elevator.  open the panel on the console, take out the shaft, combine it with the cylinder, place it back in the panel, and then push the buttons in the order that is listed on the side of the shaft.  presto!  the elevator works.

General Gaming / xbox live price structure
« on: July 24, 2003, 10:23:56 AM »
does anybody know what the pricing is going to be for an xbox live subscription once the free year ends?
i saw on gamerfeed.com that the price structure for xbox live in japan is only going to be $30/year or $5.70/month, much lower than i anticipated.  i'm thinking they're lowering prices in japan to hopefully stir up some interest.  i haven't heard any pricing for xbox live in the u.s.a. though.  did i miss it, or has it not been announced yet?

anyone have a link to some pictures of the old jade?  i haven't been following this game very closely and i'd like to see the differences.

why do you say that?  metroid prime bombed pretty hard.  especially for how good it was.  last i checked it had hardly broken a million copies.  hell, the mortal kombat sold two million, and it wasn't even nearly as good.

I want games I can play with my wife or friends, nothing too intense or serious.

try ikaruga...it's a light-hearted game that is easy to adopt to.  requires little to no concentration.

(please note the sarcasm; i'd feel bad if you dropped $40 on this game expecting something you could easily pick up.)

but the game does have a pretty darn cool co-op mode.

interesting idea...i was hoping for more of a carrying case (holds system, games, ear phone adaptor, etc) but this is truly unique.  i'd be interesting in hearing what anyone who bought this has to say about its functionality.

Well, if you only own an Xbox, then I seriously doubt you are a hardcore gamer.

what's your definition of a hardcore gamer?

let's go down the list with possible traits:
owns more than twenty games:  check
plays more than 20 hours a week:  check
follows gaming news and participates in forum chat:  check
loves xbox with a blinding passion:  check

trust me, he's a hardcore gamer.  a little misguided, but a hardcore gamer nonetheless.

if you want the real reason he likes xbox so much, it's because he can't afford to keep up his computer to play all the latest games.  and (as much as you may dislike xbox) many great games available for pc are on xbox, too.  (hell, most of the good games on xbox are pc ports, but that's another discussion for another thread.)

and just to keep on the original topic, how the heck did kefka beat pac-man?  no matter, all shall fall to the mighty chrono!

well, unfortunately, he's an xbox fan, so i dunno.  i'm not going to make excuses for him.  he was also griping about the lack of xbox characters in the battle once i showed it to him.  apparently he just didn't get that xbox doesn't have that very many exclusive franchises with stand-out characters.  oh well.

here's a question for you all:  just how big is gamefaqs.com?  meaning, does it seem odd that in every single poll of the character battle the site has roughly 100,000 votes?  the weekly polls on gamespy.com (which, despite what you think of the site, is probably a more popular site) generate between 25,000 and 50,000 votes.  today's poll over at gamespot.com has under 6,000 votes.  pgc's current poll has bee going on for god-knows how long and it only has 108 votes.

should we question the legitimacy of the polls at gamefaqs.com?  i know the character battle has generated some pretty big interest on various forums around the net, and i'm sure that is leading to higher-than-average turnout, but it still seems a bit excessive.

i have a couple friends who i would consider hardcore gamers who have never heard of gamefaqs.com.  is the site really that popular (read:  is the character battle really that popular) that it gets that many votes per day?

anyone have any thoughts on the subject?

i can definitely see your point there, but i'm sticking with my original opinion.  i've see too many legitimate posts get locked because they were technically polls.

"timesplitters 2 vs 007: nightfire" is technically a poll, but i would consider it a legitimate topic.  but i've seen topics very similar to this get locked before even two posts were entered because the mods said it was a poll.  and while i am greatly appreciative that they keep these forums clean, i do still feel there should be a place to discuss this stuff.

i'm not suggesting an unmoderated forum.  things like stealing other site's content, offensive language, etc still would not be tolerated.  i think we just need a place to discuss some of the items i mentioned in my previous post.

why doesn't pgc add a special forum where users can talk about stuff that would normally not be tolerated?  (i.e. polls, games/systems for sale, flame other systems if they so choose, etc)  this way if people actually care about that stuff they can read the forum and if they don't care, they just don't go there.  also, i think it would also help to clear the regular forums of some of the garbage that people stick in there.  meaning, if people had a place where they could sell they used copy of spy hunter, we wouldn't see it in gamecube discussion.  just a suggestion.
