Making fun of bad game reviews is more fun then mocking GI's stupidity!

Which kind of falls into the same boat... but GI is basically an easy mock target.

TalkBack / Re: Making the Review Process Better
« on: January 04, 2009, 08:29:25 PM »
Here's what you can guys could do for this site:

- Either just do the reviews you guys have always done for the past decade, like the pros and cons, but get rid of the ratings for each aspect (ie: graphics, sound, etc.). A scale rating of 1 to 5 for a final score could suffice too.
- OR... have no rating element what-so-ever and just have the "end of review" blurb.

The second option could work for many of the Touch Generation games that Nintendo releases (like Wii Music). Personally, maybe you guys should use the rating system for the Virtual Console games. I love that system. ;D

Whatever floats your boat, I suppose.

Which is not surprising. Reviews sometimes outright fuel sales of games, and thanks to all those moronic reviews on Shake It the hype for it fell like a rock. It's a damn shame, really. Good Feel made a very fun 2-D game.

Add me to the list of Shake It fans.

The more you learn from Luigi Dude!

This is why the latest Wario Land on the Wii was done by Good Feel instead of SPD1, because SPD1 was busy with Rhythm Tengoku DS.  Of course considering how good a job Good Feel did with Wario, I wouldn't mind it if Nintendo allowed them to make a 2d Metroid as well.  I mean, the Wario Land games in a way are similar to the Metroid games, and since the Good Feel has shown they can deliver a great Wario Land title, it would be that much of a stretch to think they could also deliver a great Metroid title.
Eff yes, Wario Land Shake It shat buckets over Wario Land 4, and the boss battles were amazing. Treasure still makes better boss battles, but that's besides the point. Nintendo would do good in buying Good Feel. Good Feel developing under Sakamoto's supervision would make the most awesome game ever.

I'm surprised no one has torn apart an MGS4 review yet. I would, but I don't feel like it.  :P

Ha, I remember a supposed leak from the ERSB that listed the game coming to America. While A.S.H looked interesting, I wasn't that blown away from what I saw.

I found the feather useless and the coin system to be cheap.

Sorry, but every Mario Kart game after SMK is better then its origins.

The Mario Kart series didn't get it's groove until Mario Kart 64.

And was the Wii Wheel bad? Considering I can pull off mini-turbos and turns no problem, it mustn't be. It's not for everyone though.

In my personal opinion, Factor 5 got what they exactly deserved. You develop one of the best launch titles for the Gamecube, make a horrible sequal and then drop Nintendo like a rock after the Wii is revealed, so damn right you should get screwed over.

Now if only it would happen to Artoon...

That trailer has more gameplay then the entire MGS4 game.

They released those games to the public. This game looked interesting, but Naka the Baka "didn't like it", and not to mention that Sega of Japan and Sega of America were at each other's throats.

Seriously messy. I wonder if Nintendo suffered problems like this? I hope not...

Just what I wanted, an iPhone game with Old Snake. He should've killed himself in the ending of MGS4. It's worse then that shitty wedding between Johnny and Meryl.

General Gaming / Sonic X-Treme: the most tragic moment in gaming history
« on: December 21, 2008, 12:41:16 AM »
Alot of people ask how Sonic's career has gone downhill. While I didn't find Sonic Adventure bad, it didn't really capture the feel of the Genesis Sonic titles. Yet after Sonic Adventure 2, and then the follow-up Sonic Heroes, I wondered what the hell was going on in Sega's company.

Though the story of Sonic X-Treme has been told so many times and it's long enough to make a damn book about, I think it could make an interesting discussion for a Nintendo fanboy who also liked some of Sega's games. While alot of change happened in 1996, which really changed the course of console leaders and how games were played, our favorite characters survived the transition to 3-D. Sonic, not so much.

This article, written by the Lost Levels with comments made by producer Mike Wallis and programmer Chris Senn, just makes Sonic's current situation much more painful. And it also cements my view that Yuji Naka is a glory hog, and Sega made a horrible mistake in giving him control of Sonic's future.

What the hell was wrong with Naoto Ohshima or Hirokazu Yasahara getting control? From comments I've read, these two were nice to the STi group.

For reals, yo. I liked how Ghost Babel was an alternate sequel to Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake. None of this "let's explain the unexplainable with nanomachines" nonsense. Black Arts Viper was an awesome villain.
It was an alternate sequel to the original Metal Gear, and it took place in 2002. From what I researched, Ghost Bable was somewhat a testing ground for some plot devices later used for MGS2. The game was directed by the same guy who made the AC!D games for PSP.

In my little own world, if Kojima fixed some of the plot mistakes in MGS3, and some in MGS4, the MGS series as of now would be more acceptable to me. The reason Kojima went to such wild lengths with the story in MGS2 was that he planned it to be his last MGS game. However, being the confused SOB he is (and the fans seriously sending death threats to him, WTF?), he decides to make another MGS game, including Raiden bashing (oh boy, Raikov...). Then MGS4 comes around and we can't help but make fun of it.

Crap, I have to say this. Ghost Babel has more gameplay and a better story then MGS4.

I liked Phantasy Star Online, but I hope they fix the controls with this entry. If they do, I'm sold.

On a completely unrelated note, does anyone know who composed the music for PSO 1&2?

Downloaded the demo, and considering I have no previous experience with Elebits, I found it quite found. Love the art work. Hopefully they use it for the next Wii entry.
