Nintendo Gaming / RE: Gameboy Sp price drop= Lower than expected DS price??
« on: September 07, 2004, 05:09:23 PM »
of course, that $150 price quote is coming from PSM; it is their job to make the PSP look good (not aesthetically, as that has already been accomplished)

I agree with those suspecting this to be a method to sell SP's before the DS cuts into GBA sales... but that's cool, because it may yield a slightly lower DS price (however, don't expect a $100 DS until the PSP is about to launch, maybe even later)

yeah but i find a GTA game more likely to be released on the PSP... think about it: GTA is a perfect game to play for 5-10 minutes at a time, and would actually push PSP's off the shelves

wow.. i just scared myself

seriously,  the DS will allegedly launch in just over 2 months, and we havent seen anything new since E3.... we deserve some more lovin from Nintendo.

I dont want much, maybe even a 3rd party title or something;

either way i believe that we'll be seeing something big pretty soon; if indeed the console launches in November, the DS should get least 60 days of marketing and hype

My goodness, Starfox would be absolutely stellar

In using both first person view and third person (on either screen), they could also implement some touchscreen controls and mess up the mix like whoa.

...no, just hearing that is kind of annoying.

really? I've been thinking how a platformer could work with stlyus control, and i think it would  greatly enhance the gameplay..

however.. SSB requires buttons, no matter what.

by and by, e3 is less than 48 hours away ... shouldn't a picture of the ds system and/or a screen shot of a ds game been leaked by now?  nintendo's really doing a great job of keeping this thing under wraps until the official unveiling.

I know, isn't the press conference tomorrow? How has something not gotten out? Usually IGN has stuff early, like the day before the press conference at E3 2001 the GCN logo leaked ...  i remember that fondly

Asking Nintendo to lock itself into one handheld at a time is like asking GM to only manufacture one model of car per year.

well said, but what are the chances that Nintendo can truly vary the gameplay enough so that the dual screens function not as another cheap "innovative" gimmick, but rather in an essential and creative manner?

Nintendo has quite the opportunity to create yet another market; their "third pillar" could be a key factor in the future of gaming, given that they include easy to use wireless play (for more than 4 people, preferably).

the DS could be the future for nintendo (seriously, how many more console systems do you think the big N has left before they have to dip out of the ridiculous console wars? .... it pisses me off just to think how much the industry has changed... i just wish that things could be like the old days, when games were judged not by the color of blood but by the content of their characters)

I was under the same impression at first, and fell into a bout of hysteria.

2004 is shaping up to be a dismal year for Cube news.

shattered dreams everywhere

anyways, if they put some Iced Earth, DragonForce, Opeth, Freedom Call, or Dream Theater songs on this Funkydilla, then I'll be content (in other words, this game is gonna be teh suck)

Nintendo Gaming / RE:DS Controls Layout??
« on: April 04, 2004, 04:38:13 PM »
hold a regular GBA in your hands, and imagine a flip screen that lies abouve the normal screen.

the screen on the body of the GBa is your touchpad screen. It's really easy to reach... but what the hell could you use it for?  I'm stumped...

which is why i dont think that it wil have a touchscreen

Nintendo Gaming / RE:New NDS article over at IGN: must read!

no one's really mentioned the awkwardness of a touch screen on the GameBoy

how could you play on the go, when one hand has to always lt go of the side of the GBA?

actually it's not that big of a deal at all.

oh well

598
im still lost as to what the hell you can use a second screen for, other than generic character info and the like (though it would be nice to have an inventory screen in an rpg, and a rear view mirror would be nice, but otherwise all that I could think to use the second screen for is just health/ammo/radar/info stuff... hopefully nintendo has something bitchin)

i hope that the button layout isnt as simple as the GBA's 2-face button design

i like the idea of one screen used for 3D and one for 2D.

Nintendo's own example (of a soccer game) would fit the 2d/3d possibilities... think about it: you see the field on the secondary (2d) screen, and you see your player in full 3d on the primary screen

that'd be sweet

now, i just hope it has more than 2 face buttons and 2 shoulder buttons

Nintendo Gaming / RE:What version of Soul Calibur II is the best?
« on: January 05, 2004, 05:26:54 AM »
having purchased the gamecube version and playing it nearly nonstop for about two weeks straight, i became very comfortable with the Cube controller... it's easier to do A+B, A+K, and even B+K (for me)

i've played the ps2 version, as well, but the controls suck (in my opinion)
