While I admit that some of it is nice to listen to, it feels like the bulk of it is needless complaining and cursing. I'm not the sensitive prick that gets all up in one's face if someone drops the F-bomb, but peppering curses for the hell of it is very poor and tiresome. It doesn't feel much different than the many other bitchy things I've come across, it's mostly BS like "Nintendo won't give us what we want cuz it's not cost worthy," "Nintendo's like, 'You want Zelda? Well FU!'" and the occasional stab at Wii Music (which is a game I enjoyed, BTW) or the casual direction Nintendo's taking.

It's just that I personally support the decisions Nintendo's made (not all, but most), and with all the complaints, bitching, and jabs out there... NWR podcast isn't much different... it's simply the vibe I get from it. That's just my opinion, no offense to anyone. <_<

Hey, thats cool, too each his own.  Unfortunetly, there are many other Nintendo centric podcasts to choose from.  Infendo Radio and The Wiire are as boring as licking new carpet and IGN Voice Chat, while sometime optimistic and informative, is poisoned by the dumbass remarks of Bozon.

Anyone that can defeat Super Macho Man with motion controls gets my respect.

HVS have released 4 VC games.  Only one of them received somewhat good reviews and absolutely none of them brought anything interesting to the table that made me even remotely intrigued by the title.

I agree with Pale here.  HVS has a track record of mediocrity.  How many times have we seen a below average developer create or port 30+ average or sub par games over a 10 year period to all of the sudden hit one out of the park?  Their last 3 Wiware titles, Evasive Space, Hot Rod Show, and Gyrostarr, were all pretty basic concepts that should have been fun.  Yet they all lacked that certain punch to make them a compelling addictive experience, like say the first Geometry Wars.

I hope that game turns out well, as the Wii needs more fps's, but there's no way I'm getting hyped until I see the final product.

Welcome Thomas!

Y no like the podcast?  I listen to tons of different shows and NWR is definitely my fav.  I guess I just appreciate the candor, and the way they can rip and praise Nintendo all in the same sentence.

Hmm, thus far I haven't notice a difference, but I've never really had an issue with the controls (which is saying a LOT, because I have control issues with most Wii titles).  Perhaps it was the sensor bar, or you played during a sun shiny day.

And GP, its rather odd.  I've owned LBP since launch and I have yet to release a level for the same reason.  Considering I'm always writing music and playing in front of people, I figured I'd do the same with Smash, LBP, and Boom Blox.  Funny how it goes.  I guess it just boils down to the fact that it requires a lot of spare time to create and I'd rather spend that time playing someone else's creation.

Yeah I noticed that too but you have to remember even IF it lacks many of those there is still the downloadable stuff. BTW the game is FANTASTIC

Interesting.  But yeah, I'm sure the downloadable stuff will more than make up for it.  You throw any in the ring yet?

Now I could be wrong about this, but does it seem like there are less puzzles in the new game that require 1 throw to get a gold?  I only owned the first game a short while as I left it at my in laws one day and just let them keep it b/c they loved it so much.  But it seems like the new game has more puzzles with 2 or 3 throws for a gold or just a certain amount of points.  I'm not nitpicking or anything, but that was my favorite part of the first game, finding that one throw that could knock it all down.

Maybe they're just in another area, as the amount of places to explore is pretty overwhelming at first.

Isn't that true of any game?  Are we not always under hype from anything?

Some more than others.  Mad Dog McCree: Gunslinger Pack is dropping next week, but I don't see a thread for it.  There's just not the same love for Mad dog in 2009 like there was in 1989.

So if the Conduit is mediocre, are we going to live though another 2 year hype train for Gladiator?

Once again, the Nuggets forgot how to make a simple inbound pass.  Damn shame.

Obviously, 2009's Super Mario Galaxy will be Uncharted 2.  No contest.

Have you thought that 2009's Super Mario Galaxy may be SUPER MARIO GALAXY? Yeah think about that one!

Are you saying its finally time I get the last 5 stars and beat it as Luigi?

The reason this review is getting torn apart I suspect is because there are two camps of people for this game:
- People who are so excited for this game that they can't accept any negative responses
- People who are so apathetic towards this game that they refuse to see this as a good game overall

Don't forgot about the people that own the game, are already addicted, yet still able to view its shortcomings and want more.

“All generalizations are false, including this one.”
-Mark Twain

No offense, but I was talking about the people who don't even own the game yet talk as if they know everything there is to know.

Haven't you noticed that those that talk the most are those that know nothing about something? This happens a lot in videogames, and fans that are too excited don't want to accept any shortcomings and those that are doubtful fail to see any good qualities.

Very true.

Quote
Punch Out Wii is mostly a mish-mash of both Punch Out games, leaning more toward the NES game elements in terms of characters and gameplay.

Hmmm, what elements did you find that were taken from Super Punch-Out!!? I can only think of a couple, that being more movement from your opponent, and a bit more of a cinematic presentation.

I agree.  I can only think of things that were removed from the sequel:

- Leaderboards
- Unlimited Star Punch once accrued
- Rapid Fire Punch
- Tons of Great characters like Dragon Chan, Mad Clown, Narcis Prince, and of course, Hoy Quarlow

107-106 Magic Win.
That last play was nail biting.

Yeah, glad I ended up catching the end.  I figured it would be a blow out after the 1st half.
You can not count out the Magic after 1 half. They always gut it out and try their best.

And I'm glad they won.  The Hawks and Pistons V Detroit was so BOOOOOOORING.

I'm still sticking with my Cavs in 6 pick though.

Super Punch Out still remains not only the best game in the series, but the best game in the history of games.

I'm just playing about the 9.5, not a big deal.

Not a fighting game?  Last time I checked, when two dudes are smashing each other in the face with upper cuts, most people consider that a "fight".  Its no Street Fighter, but you can hold them to similar standards.  Speaking of, Capcom made a similar move with Street Fighter this year.  Spruced up the graphics, tweaked the gameplay just a bit, but added a handful of new characters, stages and online play.  I'd be more comfortable in giving SF4 a 10.

I still don't understand why people find a problem with having the same characters in the game.
I have a great idea, let's make the next F-Zero have none of the original characters. Captain Falcon? Screw that. Who needs Samurai Goroh?
Man, I can't wait for Metroid without Ridley, Mother Brain, or Metroids.
Better yet, let's make a Star Fox game without Star Wolf. Oh wait, they did that... (Star Fox Adventures).

Per Wikipedia:
"The original Super Smash Bros. had 12 characters, and the number rose to 25 characters in Melee and 35 in Brawl."

Thats what we're trying to get at.  Fighting games should always increase in characters and levels.  Keeps things fresh as you can't just change the core gameplay every time.

Just to add to that, even Brawl added several weapons, the Final Smash, and (mediocre, but present) Online Play.  There's also that level editor.

But that still wasn't enough.  Brawlz was 9.5'd
