HOLY SH!T! How come I didn't think of that! I've been screaming for SMB2 to get on the shelves, and here we are talking about what games are perfect for LAN! MAN!

Good work Mario. Makes SMB2 evern more desirable. Hopefully, that phone call comes tomorrow, and I can skip happily down to EB and get my copy! And I actually have money for it! HAHAHAHA!

Microsoft's ad campaigns have been unethical, unfair, and exploitive. Everything they have done is against everything I stand for in console gaming.

General Gaming / EA not supporting Live
« on: March 16, 2003, 12:23:03 AM »
The fact that EA isn't supporting Microsoft's biggest console project is good enough for me.

This generation just got more interesting.
An EA deal with Nintendo, and EA says no to Xbox Live. But then Eidos says no to XBox Live. Wow.

Online console is a very delicate buisness. I think that it was good that MS rushed into it (Even if they have a good plan), but then that shows that they didn't consider ALL the options.
Nintendo seems to be back in the safe zone after all (in terms of online gaming).

Nintendo Gaming / Gamecube LAN games?
« on: March 16, 2003, 12:14:48 AM »
Games that MUST have LAN, if LAN gaming ever comes to fruition on Gamecube:
-Mario Kart
-F-Zero
-Some 1st person shooters (Bond, TimeSplitters, etc)
-Some RPG (Final Fantasy?)
and of course:
-Super Smash Bros. 3
-Lots of sports.

Any others? I can't think of any. That's all I need, and are willing to spend money for.

All my friends have their own cars. I don't. All money goes toward a better Gamecube game collection, and soon, a GBA SP. I have no need of worry of a new PC, cause that's what mums and dads are for.

My parents don't play games. My mum asked me a couple of months ago where do you turn on the computer, all the while pressing the reset button. Ahh, sweet mothers who only know the conditions of the house and the kids. God bless her.

Puzzle games? Hah! My parents only know the puzzles in the Women's Weekly magazines and the kids section of the newspaper. Electronic games are for those who wish to rot their brains. More power to us, I say.

I have only got two Zelda movies. One's the WMV version of the E3 2002 Trailer. Still the best Zelda footage I've ever seen. The other is the footage of some rep playing the first boss, on the E3 2002 DVD from NextGen Videos.

I've got tons of pics tho. But not more than I have of F-Zero GC.

With Metroid, I've got six movies. The E3 2002 Trailer, the Metroid US commercial, and three direct feed gameplay movies. I never want to download too many game footage, cause that's what ruined Majora's Mask for me. I knew too much about it.

General Gaming / System Failures?
« on: March 15, 2003, 02:37:13 AM »
Did Sega make two versions of their Mega Drive (the Genesis in the States)? Cause my cousin has a 'Sega Mega Drive II'. I dunno.
I saw the back of the box and, like Nintendo's 'watch out for these games' thing on the back of the N64 and Gamecube boxes, the MD2 had ads for the 32CD, and all manner of other devices.
I'm guessing that the 'original' Mega Drive didn't have connectivity like this, so they released a new version of the Mega Drive.

Confirm this anyone?

General Gaming / The new and improved X-box, X-box Light?
« on: March 15, 2003, 02:30:34 AM »
OK....Microsoft are already losing around a hundred bucks each console sold. And then they have the whole THREE free games thing, and that's another three hundred gone. So four hundred so far. But then, they have also reduced the price to almost match the Gamecube, and so, in Australia, that's four hundred lost. so totally 800 big ones. Then, they're rumoured to be releaseing XBox Lite, at 100 dollars cheaper then the normal XBox. So that's 200 hundred bucks lost for every XBox Lite sold.

But now, the THREE free games deal is over (or is it?), but in Australia (dunno about the States or Europe), they still have a 'one free game with XBox purchase'. But they're also losing money (probably)from all the R&D time they're spending on creating an XBox lite.

There are probably more free deals for XBox that I don't know about, so that's more money out of the wallets.

Confused? I sure am.

But it all means that Microsoft is losing a SH!TLOAD of money on XBox. And moreso with going ahead with XBox Lite.

Yeah. See how IGN posted that thing of everything you could scan in Metroid Prime to get 100%? It's wasn't even Insider stuff!
I was soooo resisting the urge to look in it, print it, then stash it away so I can use when MP comes our way.

Not that I know of, but yes, there have been many 'hero-who-goes-out-into-the-world-to-fight-his-evil-nemesis-to-save-his-girlfriend/wife/sister/daughter/mother/grandmother' games.

And don't you think that the pictures of Link's grandmother form Wind Waker look alot like the old lady from the bomb shop who gets robbed in Majora's Mask?

Nintendo Gaming / Good Racing Games
« on: March 15, 2003, 02:01:05 AM »
Namco are making their next Ridge Racer game a realistic, but semi-arcade game featuring real cars. They wanted to make in the mould of Gran Turismo. And with Burnout 2, World Racing, and Street Racing Syndicate coming, at least we'll have much better realistic racers than the N64.

But I prefer the Mario Karts and F-Zero's anyway. Well, only Mario Kart and F-Zero.

Ha.
I'll bet ya anything that they're gonna be chucking major spoilers our way.
"Oh see the part where Link does (insert spoiler here)....oh yeah, you guys don't have Zelda yet....SORRY!"

Dastardly Nintendo PAL conversions.

I don't think there is any better reply than your one Mario (above).

This year will truly usher in a new age (Hey, I love Eternal Darkness)!

OK, SMB2 and SMC come out Monday. Metroid in April, Zelda in May.
And Nintendo of Australia PROMISE a massive ad campaign from their website.
This had better come to fruition.
And with all this excitement among us, these will be good times.
Hopefully, the Metroid ads are shown at ALL times of day. So no 1am ads when no-one is watching.
I'll bet there's gonna be huge support from Cheez TV, since Pokemon is back on the 24th, and Pokemon, is well, all Nintendo. So from 7-7.30am, watch Cheez TV on Channel 10. Something might show early.

In the words of a true blue Aussie, Big Kev:
I'm Excited!

Well, at least we're getting the two disc set, THANK GOD!
And it's a pack in for a limited time, no need for pre-orders, I'm guessing. And that's even better!
Ocarina of Time.....to keep, for ALL time!

I CANNOT WAIT TILL MAY!!!

Nintendo Gaming / Dual Analog controls
« on: March 14, 2003, 03:15:17 AM »
I don't know about Agent Under Fire, but Nightfire has TONS of control schemes. About 10 I think. I don't know about left-analog for aiming, but it's bound to be in there. Hang On. I'll check.

Aww. nothing in the manual explaining the controls.
but i'm sure the option is there in Nightfire. Rent it out.
It's quite a good game.

Nintendo Gaming / Gamecube Discs
« on: March 14, 2003, 03:06:45 AM »
HAVE they released emulators of Gamecube games? Are they ever going to?

I think that if they don't within this generation, NIntendo should be proud, cause the Gamecube will be the first console that has been COMPLETELY un-piratable.

I could be wrong though.

People have jeered at Gamecube for the wrong reasons:
"I can get games for PC, Xbox and PS2 cheaper cause you can pirate them! You have to pay a hundred bucks, and I don't! Gamecube sucks man."

Well, Nintendo are the most profitable one out there, and that, technically, makes them number one! So jeer all you want!

Nintendo Gaming / Thornado!!!
« on: March 14, 2003, 02:58:44 AM »
I reckon the fact that Factor 5 releasing a game multiplatform would be pretty weird, since they are pretty much the link between LucasArts and Nintendo. Their foray into console game started with Nintendo anyway (was Turrican a console game of PC only? I dunno), and they also made a key part of Nintendo's console - sound (well now they've also made better video compression in DivX, so they've played a BIG part in making the Gamecube).

Nintendo Gaming / MGS on GC - How Would it Handle?

NES conversion?
Aw, now that is just f**king bulls**t.
I sincerely doubt it's true though.

Any of the 3D MGS games would do in my opinion, but they would have to be considerably better, with extra features - not just graphics upgrades, but extra levels, GBA connectivity, and such.

WHAT? How the hell did you know about it before us mrcivic? Do you work at Nintendo? Do you work at some retailer?

But anyway, this is the best news that ANY Australian Nintendo Gamer can hear.

I think we were the last region in the world to get the deal.
Good for us, I say!!!
Let's celebrate!!!!

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

OH SH!T!!!!! I think all the peaople who signed that petition can rest easy. And there were quite a few people who said that if Nintendo of Australia didn't bring the pre-prder deal here, that they would leave NIntendo and buy other consoles. Well, they can eat their own words and come celebrate, cause it's the day that NOA finally listens to our cries of despair! And they will surely listen to our praise. I think that this is something that should be advertised now, since it is a pre-order deal after all.

I gotta head over to Funland Games and ask them if they're on Nintendo's list of stores that are gonna get this deal, or else I gotta pre-order with EB.

Oh, and EB said today that SMB won't be coming out until Monday/Tuesday. Only a few more days. And I traded in XG3. But guess how much it fetched in store credit? A measly $27! Rip-off! I got the game barely a month ago. Christ!

General Gaming / Nokia's new handheld a gba killer
« on: March 13, 2003, 02:20:22 AM »
In light of Billy's impression's of Nokia's N-Gage at the GDC, thought it would be a good idea to resurrect this thread, and say how utterly useless the N-Gage if you can't even play the games properly on it. I needed info like this on the N-Gage, since the only things I've heard about are PR repeats. No REAL impressions. Good Work Billy.

But it might not even be necessary to bring the thread back at all.
We all know that this handheld will be the next in a long line of handheld failures.
As far as I'm concerned, Nokia is trying to be the 'Microsoft' of the handheld gaming industry.
And the phone, for the N-Gage, is like the feature that Nokia forgot and tacked on at the last minute.

Long live Game Boy.

I wonder if my friend has RE0 yet? Hmmm.
I might drop by for a visit.

I need a new game. I've bought the games which you can finish too easily.
-Rogue LEader. After doing it the first time, there's no motive to go and get all the medals.
-Nightfire. Same here, as with the difficulty levels.
-XG3. Cheats make this game fun, but easy, and for not too long as well. Double winnings, Infinite ammo and shields=boosting all the way, and breaking sound barriers every two seconds. I bought every weapon, upgrade and engine, and Ive got at least 4 million bucks in the bank still. Cool, but pointless, since after you finish the game, you can't race anymore in career mode.

Im gonna sell XG3 tomorrow, and buy SMB2. YAY!
