General Chat / RE: Official Australian PGC visitors disscussion
« on: June 27, 2003, 05:09:54 PM »
Hey, if you ain't been to my site yet, I'm having trouble with the "nintendoinc.cjb.net" URL cloak.
If you go to my site, then click on a link to an external site that I don't run (like the PGC Forums or Infernal's site) then the URL remains with nintendinc.cjb.net.

Do any of you guys know how to fix this?
If I can't fix it, then I'll have to go back to using the angelfire URL/.

General Gaming / RE: Who thinks X-Box is the worst of the 3 systems
« on: June 27, 2003, 04:37:48 PM »
Even though this thread will be lock, I thought I would like to post something before it does.
I cannot really say how much I 'hate' Xbox, since I would probably be banned.
The 'hate' is merely toward Microsoft, and the monopolistic attitude of Bill Gates toward the computer industry, and the fact that owning Rare will mean that if Xbox1/2/3/4/5/6 goes under in the game industry, then Rare is gone. Or maybe they will be bought again by Nintendo, or worse, Sony.
That's it.
All this 'hate' basically goes back to Rare.

Am I the only one who's made a decent reply here?

General Gaming / RE: Rare's ownership

Haha. I can imagine you telling him:
"It's like Dr Pepper......this guy bottles it for em but doesn't mean he owns it."
Haha.
I heard that even though Silicon Knights made Legacy of Kain, the publisher (forgot who it was) actually got the license in the end, cause SK gave up on the court case since Nintendo were gonna buy them. In the end, even though they had some games in the pipeline, they practically still had to start from scratch.
The same could be said about Rare. Nintendo COULD have gotten Rare's franchises, since two of them tie up to the Kong family (COnker and Banjo in Diddy Kong Racing), but I guess that if Nintendo DID get them, what are they going to do? Lump them only their smaller development houses, that can only really put out one game every two years? I think the decision was good, in that each house would be able to do their own games. NSTC and Retro are doin some Nintendo franchises already. I don't think they need more.
Thing is, the Rare NOW depends on their franchises too much. You see their ONE original game for XBox, Grabbed by the Ghoulies? That's not being perceived as even a remotely anticipated game. Kameo was on the GC before XBox, so GbtG is their first TRUE Xbox-only game.
I feel like I've said this before.

But that said, I do miss Banjo the most.
However, the new DK Game should be interesting.

OH, I wish that were true all over the world.
Hype seems to be what all consoles depend on at some point, not so much quality games.
It's hype!hype!hype! And then when they discover ONE good game (Halo) it's like, Hype!Hype!Hype! Get Halo! It's the BEST GAME EVER! HypE!Hype!Hype!

400 Posts?
Try over 1200 posts in the Aussie thread in General Chat!

I think releasing them at the same time is PERFECT!
Two franchises which haven't been on Nintendo for such a long time, it'll be like a massive blow to Sony and Microsoft during the holidays!
I mean, the public won't be expecting that eh?
Heaps of commercials, FF and MGS, ONLY ON GAMECUBE?
It'll be like 'whaa..? I thought they were only on Sony?'
Hahaha. That'll show em.

In time, GCNMasterX, we will know the TRUE answer to that rich and famous question. Haha.
But Chasefox, you've been a fan of theirs for a year? Really? I thought they've only been around for like 3 months now. So does that mean you were fan when they where some sorta underground, unsigned band playing gigs on a radio station?

Dial up does have it's limits you know. It can be good or bad connection depending on the 'mood'. Haha.

Yu-Gi-Oh: Falsebound Kingdom

It's the only Y game on IGNCube's game list.
And PGC's game list took too long to load, it just stopped at G.

Yeah.
Titan AE was pretty good, but I think the CG for 'New Earth' sucked. You know the bit where the camera pulls back from Cale and Akima out to space? The cliff that they're on well, didn't look to good. See it for yourself.

When Photo-realistic CG Humans are like a walk in the park for Computer Animators, well, yeah. It's just that the only thing going for FF:TSW was that it had realistic humans and Aki Ross's hair was a technological breakthrough. I asked my friends, and most of the didn't know the story of it until the read the subtitles on the DVD version. My parents didn't know that it was computer animated.

My point is that until it's easy to do CG Humans, than they shouldn't sacrifice the story so much that the CG itself takes over.
Kudos to Sqaure though for trying, but the loss of the movie also made Sony buy a share of Sqaure to save them.

*shudders*
I remember that.
The first jedi Knight game had real-life actors in the cut scenes. That was scary.
I guess that's a valid point for games, but then I was making the point for movies.......meh.

uh, drugs?
who does drugs?
I dont.
why does one do drugs?
why does one know so much about drugs?

I am surprised.

But good luck there Grey Ninja. Hopefully you can get into it and finally gather enough bucks to get some more games!
Remember!
Games are more healthy than drugs! Haha.

They could, yes, but they had to re-do the human models pratically every year since the technology kept improving, so that would mean that they spent more money than they should have, when they could have improved the story.

Really?
Hmmmm......
I had downloaded Imaginary (before I bought the album), and when I went to their official site to get the lyrics, the whole last verse ("Swallowed up in the sound of my screaming......") was swapped and was now the beginning of the song (which was what I had), so in other words, I really didn't have the 'complete' album until I actually bought it.
Haunted didn't have that weird intro, it just went straight into the rock guitar. And Tourniquet and Imaginary weren't joined up with that connecting orchestration.

Just saying.

I did a gun barrel sequence of my own last year. But it wasn't in flash, it was in some easier to use rip-off of flash (forgot what it ws called). It actually looked good too.
You should make a series out of this!

I loved the Mario Movie.
Screw those who didn't!
It was funny, adventurous, and it had many things that made it Mario in real life, and I can't say I can imagine them doing the movie any other way (I've said this before too many times).
Streefighter sucked, even though it had some sort of 'all-star' cast (Kylie is still hot).
And they really tried hard to have a reason for the Mortal Kombat movies eh?
Tomb Raider 1 sucked hard, but I'm looking forward to number 2.
Resident Evil was OK, and I'm looking forward to 2 (a city that's totally abandoned is pretty freaky).
Final Fantasy was actually pretty good. I don't know why people always compare it to Pixar's efforts (beside being CG). The story was good. But John Lasseter made a good point when he said 'why fo they have to do fully photo-realistic humans in CG when they could save millions just by using real actors'.
