I found
this pic on a site called
Digital Blasphemy four years ago (don't know if it's still there).
Before Sega made F-Zero GX, I had this idea for 'F-Zero Worlds'. Basically, it was more tracks, over 40, but instead of just roads winding around cities and other environments, i had the idea of overwater and underwater tracks, water tubes (like in Ecco the Dolphin on DC), and other exotic track environments.
It was all to keep with the theme of the Dolphon console name.
What happened is, the starting grid was always on a dry road as it usually is. Then, when the racers approach the overwater sections, the vehicle changes its shell configuration to be able to surf the seas (the vehicles change in real-time, not in a cut scene like in Star Fox 64 when you enter 'all-range mode'). With the water tubes, the vehicles change to suit underwater conditions, and the dry track then cuts off, and all the racers 'jump' into the water tube, Stargate-style, so the race becomes almost like you're in a wormwhole. Stuff like that. Yoy have to be able to look into my mind to see what I'm getting at. And like the pic, there's beautiful sunsets and the wholekit and kabbodle.
I actually drew my own F-Zero tracks. Thing is, they were inspired by F-Zero X, meaning the tracks were suspended in mid-air, with the cities far away in the background. After i saw how the tracks could be connected to the cities and canyons like in XG3, then i chucked em out.
