General Chat / Re: Rate/Review The last Album you heard
« on: December 27, 2010, 11:07:42 PM »
I am going to fall in love with this thread!

Ra Ra Riots love in NWR? Didn't think I'd see the day.

I LOVE The Rhumb Line! Such an amazing album and Ra Ra Riot is an amazing band! I have seen them live and they are even better in person!

The Orchard was a disappointed but still good with a few great songs but not enough. It felt too much the same and flatter with no amazing song to latch me on. 6.5/10

Grizzly Bears Veckatimest is one of my favorite albums from last year. Just an amazing sound that I have fallen in love with. If you have never heard them go look up Two Weeks. That is the song that hooked me. 10/10

This week I found a new band that I really like a lot. Local Natives and their first LP Gorilla Manor. It feels like a blend of Grizzly Bear and Fleet Foxes (really awesome folk band who have amazing vocal harmonies). I have only listened to it a few times but so far am very impressed and drawn to it. Just a nice combination of sounds that just worked. My initial listen rating is a 8.5/10

Cinnamon Chasers - A Million Miles from Home; I first heard of this guy (yes, its one guy) through a friend. He put me on to their award winning music video for Luv Deluxe which deserves repeat viewings. The album is so mellow it just transports you to this fantasy world where nothing can hurt you. Yeah..
I really dig that song and video, will have to look more into him.

Thought maybe the links would make it nice and easy if someone hadn't heard of the bands. Just stuck one of my favorite songs from one of the albums.

Glad to hear it will end up on the feed. I will probably not get to listen to much unless my schedule changes.

Even with all the same settings they all have a basic feel that different in them.

Well I might be able to jump on for a bit. But it's not guaranteed but if you are really lacking people tomorrow just hit me up with a PM and I will see what I can do.

I just played online for the first time! Man I had a good time! Can't wait to join you guys!

I'm trying to follow everyone's conversations, so is this games multiplayer comparable to the latest COD?

Not even close to the options you have in Black Ops. This game is good for single player and local multiplayer where Black Ops just dominates it in the online options.

Since we are getting a nice group of people with Black Ops thought it would be good to have a place to plan times to play or if we are online.

With the online how it is where it seems to not be possible to play against each other unless I am missing something how is this going to work? Because when ever I have played with people they join the party but there isn't a lobby you go into and could just play with your friends.

90
I'm hearing that the local options in the HD versions are buried in the online part of the game. People are complaining that they have to go online to just play local. I'm curious if the option is there somewhere on the Wii version but no one has found it yet.

I will look next time I play. Not an issue for me since I will never play this game local.

91
Single player not as good and online 10 times better....

92
If you get on ShyGuy I am on, plan on just playing a little but will post on how online is.

EDIT WITH IMPRESSIONS:
Wow, I am impressed....

The online puts any other Wii shooter I have ever played to shame. Good frame rate and tons of fun to play. It seems to have every feature of the HD consoles or atleast almost all of them. Controls are really great but still having to tweak a bit. My first round was able to hop in and go 16-10 and went 9-6 in the next round. You can mute voice chat overall and it even looks as if you can mute certain people while in game.

If you want a Wii Shooter for online play this is it hands down.

93
I got this for Wii, will post FC in a bit, haven't actually stuck it in the system yet. ShyGuy if ya wanna play a round in a bit I probably will.

I figured since everyone sounded like they were going to get it and I had a Best Buy 30% Rewards Zone coupon that expires this week I might as well.

This is kinda off subject but I wanted to thank Jonny for all the drops of Giant Bomb you have been doing the past few months especially. I had looked at the site a bit before every now and then but the past month or so I have really gotten into it. It has a great podcast and everything on that site especially the Quick Looks are crazy entertaining. So thanks for pointing me that direction.

Keyboard and Mouse>>>>>>>>>>> Wii Controls>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Dual Analog

I play atleast 75% of my games on PC and it's all because of the controls. If I am on Wii NO WAY I am using dual analog.

96
Well played some single player on the PC at a friends house. It's a good FPS, its a good game top to bottom, but the CoD style is just getting so tired. After about an hour of the single player I had no motivation to play any more. I will I am sure end up playing it completely through just to be current but don't be ready to be blown away. Especially for Wii where your not even getting the great visuals of CoD.

Man, just makes me with Goldeneye came to PC and had awesome graphics... Goldeneye far surpasses this in single player. Just that old-school merged with modern FPS works well and I love me some stealth.

97
If Stratos gets this and a lot of other people I will pick this up.

So every game I played with Bustin last night we were paired on the same team every time.
Interesting. I wonder if it was just a coincidence? Call of Duty would sometimes randomly not pair up party members, I'm not really sure what caused it, but it didn't happen very often. I guess I'll find out when I get it.

And tonight we were paired everytime.
