Has your EB closed up shop grapefruitman? If it has, there must be a way to get your pre-ordered copy.

Nintendo Gaming / Nintendo E3 Game List: What do you think?
« on: March 24, 2003, 01:41:07 AM »
I bet only 1/4th of those games are actually shown or mentioned at E3. If screenshots and video of Mario Kart GCN come out of E3, that will be enough for me.

General Chat / how rich is mr. Miyamoto?

He's obviously a multi-millionaire. What does it matter really? As long as he keeps making brilliant games, I could care less how much money he has.

Who cares about preorder records? The Wind Waker is a mere 3 weeks away.

Nintendo Gaming / game freezing in eternal darkness
« on: February 28, 2003, 08:39:15 AM »
Sorry, it's your GC. I had the same problem with that game and had to get my GC repaired just like Hemmorhoid. I remember one of the PGC guys saying something about Eternal Darkness simultaneously accessing two tracks on the disc which causes more stress on the  GC than other games. Just listen to your GC closely during those damn cutscenes, you can hear the drive going back and forth like crazy.

They weren't too pleased to say the least when I brought a Gameboy Advance home either...

Why would they care that you have a GC? You bought it right? What's the big deal?

I think my parents are in the same boat as alot of your parents. My parents were both hooked on Mr. Do for Colecovision. They bought it for me for Christmas in '83 I think. Before they gave it to me for Christmas, they would play it every night when I went to bed. I got my dad hooked on Unreal for the PC in '98. He actually played through the entire game. He also beat the Unreal expansion pack, Return to Na Pali. I'm sure those are the only games he has ever beaten. My mom was hooked on Tetris DX for awhile. Other than that, my parents "game careers" seem to be at a stand still.

Nintendo Gaming / Whats up with 1080?
« on: February 13, 2003, 01:49:32 AM »
I watched people play it at the Chicago Cube Club last December. To me the environments looked very sparsely detailed. Alot of the little touches that give the maps character seemed to be missing. It basicly appeared to be a higher resolution version of the N64 1080. As far as control goes, I don't know, I didn't play it.

The 128 Mario's in that tech demo were not "sprites", they were polygonal.

Mario Kart with internet/lan play would be so great. I can hardly imagine how fun that would be.

Nintendo Gaming / Is FF12 coming to GameCube? (discussion/debate)
« on: February 07, 2003, 03:05:50 PM »
The only way I see FFXII coming to GC is if it's released for PS2 first, and then ported over to GC several months later. Short of Nintendo handing over a huge amount of money to Square, I really don't see how FFXII could be a GC exclusive. You could argue that Square might do it just to "go back to it's roots" and show support for the GC, but come on, there's way too much money to be made.

Wario Ware comes out in North America right alongside the GBA SP on May 26th.

Admins, you might want to correct "GBA SP" to "GB Player" before you give someone a heart attack.

That would be cool if Mr. Miyamoto did something like a world wide tour to promote The Wind Waker. He could show up in all the major cities giving alot of people a chance to meet him. Yeah, right...who am I kidding?

Nintendo Gaming / GameCube's Appeal to the Teen Audience

15 million GBAs last year wasn't enough, so Nintendo wants to go for 20 million next year.

After unvieling the Game Boy Advance SP, Nintendo has made some agressive sales goals for its flagship handheld unit.  Here's a few snippets from the Reuters story:

Nintendo aims to sell two million of its new GameBoy Advance SPs, which feature rechargeable batteries and a brightly lit screen, in the first six weeks after their February 14 launch, Nintendo President Satoru Iwata told a news conference.

It plan to sell 20 million GameBoy Advance machines globally in the next business year, up from its target of 15 million this year.

It's now offical, Metroid Prime 2 is in development.  But will Samus be playing Volleyball?

It's been fairly widely known that Retro Studios went right back to work after their Louie Award Winning Metroid Prime was released, and we were told that it was to be a sequel to Metroid Prime.  Now Nintendo has made it official, as the game is now listed on their website.

No details are known at this time, and we don't know if Prime 2 will pick up after the first Prime game, or if it will continue the story line started in Metroid Fusion for the Game Boy Advance.  All that is certain is that you won't be seeing Samus spiking a volleyball any time soon.

So what does this mean for Retro's other projects that were shelved in order to emphasize on Prime?  It's hard to say at this point, as apparently the entire company is again focused on the sequel.

We'll have more details for you as soon as we can dig them up.
