When I first saw the headline I feared they turned away David Wise.

I immediately thought the same thing. That guy is a genuis, if for no other reason than composing the Battletoads tunes. About the only thing better in the video game world is the DooM sound track.

Is the Extended Cut just new cinematics for the three endings? If so, I'll just load up YouTube. I'm not playing through the end of the game again unless it's something pretty spectacular. It was a shame to see the series end on such a whimper.

It's a periodic Vampire action flick centered around Abraham Lincoln. It's not meant to be a polictical or topical movie trying to bury a deeper point behind gory bloody civil war action.

The general idea is a good one though. Not that of Lincoln as a vampire slayer, but the South's slavery all being a front for vampire livestock supplies. The movie barely even touched upon that. In lieu of such a plot, the film should have tried to be funny instead. That's where it really failed. It wasn't a super fun, campy b-movie. It took itself way too serious, while not going far enough to make any kind of point or parallels to the time to justify it.

Quite frankly, the film was a complete dud. I'm glad I didn't pay to see it. I can only imagine that the book is pretty terrible as well, given the the author is who penned the screenplay.

I'd rather not buy Apple, thank you.

Good choice! You've just taken your first step toward buying a useful, affordable, and enjoyable machine. :)

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

Completely mediocre. The directing was over-stylized to a painful point. The action was nothing but ugly 300-esque velocity shifts. The story was somehow really, really boring. Despite covering literally decades of Lincoln's life, nothing ever seems to happen. His thirst for vengeance is quenched before the film is even halfway over. There are one or two things that I assume are supposed to be twists, but everyone saw them coming from a mile away.

The film suffers greatly from the tone it decided to take. It's not campy enough to be as fun as the title would lead you to believe. However, it doesn't take itself seriously to make any actual commentary on the world or events surrounding the story. Slavery should be a very central theme to Lincoln's beliefs, the American Civil War, and hungry plantation-owning vampires. Yet it's barely even touched upon in the film.

This was just one huge miss after another. The trailer for the book showed so much more promise than this trite.

Anyone here play the game for the survival mode?

That's the only way to play. Creative gets boring after so long.

Yeah, the increased height limit was pretty nice. They just need to make it so the clouds don't pass through things now. I had a small village built upon a series of floating islands on my server. I immediately went into MCedit and raised it above the clouds. It looks much more interesting now.

Professional sports are nothing more than corporate sponsored tribalism. Is it really any wonder that these neanderthals act the way they do? There are plenty of reasons to want to stab a guy in the neck, but none of them involve liking one billionaire's business venture over another. I'm sickened every time my tax dollars help subsidize new arenas, or indoctrinate school children into worshiping sports.

You've never heard of Avatar: The Last Airbender nor it's sequel series, the Legend of Korra? That's...actually quite surprising. Usually even someone remotely familiar with the internet has had some sort of exposure to the shows.

I've heard of Avatar: The Last Airbender , though have never watched it. I don't know much of it, and certainly was unaware of a sister series.

Hm, I've never heard of it. The screen grab looks nice though. Clearly it's an exception to the rule. Even still, I'd much rather see a well realized western style than anime any day.

Wreck-It Ralph looks about as boring and generic as you can get. Outside of the character's in the support group, nothing else caught my attention.

Tron Uprising looks interesting. I haven't watched the episode yet. I really hate the style that most modern cartoons are done in however. All of the current Marvel and DC cartoons suffer from similar problems. Characters look angular, with sharp features and hard lines prevalent. It's not a pleasing style at all, and is inferior to the style we used to see in things like the 90s X-Men and Spider-Man. It had a more western look to it that harkened back to comics themselves. This stuff nowadays just looks simplified and cheap.

Prometheus was good, even if a few things fell flat toward the end. It was gorgeous, and Michael Fassbender's channeling of Peter O'Toole was almost eerie. It wasn't an Alien film by any stretch. The plot lines weren't strong enough, and in fact almost felt tacked on in some points. The tone was not the sci-fi gothic horror that was expected. It was much more reminisce of Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey. In that way, I almost wish they hadn't tied it to Alien at all beyond the Weyland Corporation and the Jockey/Engineers themselves. It could have worked much better focusing soley on the questions of purpose and place that it asked, as opposed to leaning into the suspense of Alien going into the second act.

Nothing was really left unanswered. Not every little thing had an on-screen explanation, but the reasons were always apparent. Even if not, leaving some things ambiguous can be good. It's not simply lazy writing. Quite the contrary, wanting everything spelled out for you is lazy thinking. Not every movie needs to end with a recap of the plot twists leading up to that point. Not every movie needs to be watered down so that the average movie viewer can easily digest it without every risking a single thought process.

The Alien franchise now has three films officially worth watching. ;)

It's the "I pay to get into the theater, not to see the movie" plan.

After unlimited popcorn and soda though (usually for 4 people), I think we settle on even every trip.

That's worse than piracy!!!!!!!! You're actually costing the theater money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DBZ is easily one of the worse Anime out there that got popular.

I could not agree more. The entire "super-powered guys fighting each other" genre is about as bland as you can get. Unless you're a ten year-old boy, of course.

If you want a keyboard you should... y'know... use a computer. Telephones are for talking... with your voice.
