Nintendo Gaming / Re: Guitar Hero World Tour

First of all, having Mars Volta and Micheal Jackson on the same list is bad ass.

Second of all, no Radiohead or Bob Marley (I mean, WTF?) is failure.

And I know what your thinking: Bob Marley is too simple.

Oh, your finished? Well allow me to retort: You obviously suck at life. Reggae (ESPECIALLY Bob) is one the hardest genres to replicate well and if you look at the grooves, but more importantly, at any of the solos in his songs, you'd realize that those "simple" musicians are actually some of the greatest to have ever lived.

Where's the tribute? Where's the love?

Nintendo Gaming / Re: Miyamoto reafirms Wii Music is still coming along

Are you really serious?  How the **** does that accomplish anything?

I was talking about the Jam Session mode in Guitar Hero World Tour.  You know the mode we were JUST TALKING ABOUT.  You can air drum with the nunchuk and remote in it in a freestyle mode that sounds so similar to Wii Music that it's almost like Activision is including it in their game as an extra mode just to show Nintendo up.

Now Wii Music is probably a better buy for that sort of thing but if that's all you want Guitar Hero World Tour does not require the expensive peripherals.  Let's put it this way: you can buy Guitar Hero World Tour and get a full-on game with tons of modes including the ability to create your own music tracks and any non-gamers you live with can also enjoy the freestyle mode.  That's how you do it.  It doesn't alienate the non-gamers.  Wii Music focuses so much on non-gamers that anyone who wants a game or challenge or anything robust has no need for it.

Activision attracts the non-gamers by making an omega game everyone can like and Nintendo attracts the non-gamers by alienating everyone else.

Ian... That's not the point though. If they wanted to do exactly that, they could have. Just look at Donkey Konga.

Again, that's NOT THE POINT. It's FOCUS is about improvisation and coming together with your family or friends and making music. Most people don't know that simple joy, and if anything, mimicking GH would have just detracted from it's goal and wasted valuable effort and time.

You see, when you load up this game, you should be welcomed and invited into to the world of playing music and not bothered with high scores or "expert mode." There is no "expert" mode in real life, so why should a music game have such a thing when it's soul focus is making people less tone deaf and more appreciative of the good music that is truly neglected today due to people who are completely ignorant of how hard it is make such music (I'm looking at you jazz)?

This game may not be for you, Ian, since you already have your own band and thus, can create your own music. But to the literally MILLIONS of people out there that have never partook in such a thing, this is a gift from Miyamoto. He's wants you to pick up them sticks or brass or strings, and start playing music. And I applaud him for that and you should too.

It's not really my style, Ian, but keep it up buddddddddddddddddddddy. And writing music in your dream isn't funny, it's possibly the best way to do it. For some reason, I always come up with the best melodies when I'm dreaming but I almost always forget them immediately. It kinda sucks.....

Anyway...I have a new track as well. I don't have a name for it. What I would like from yall is some constructive criticism. I use a laptop..........that's it. So take that into consideration.

I usually make straight hip-hop beats that use samples from really momentous symphonies and orchestras or in one case, a soundtrack (Requiem for a Dream). Sometimes I make a hip-hop beat that's kinda goofy but really calming and is probably best played when having some fun outside.

So ya.......this one is COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. I was going for a more of a "this is what I'll play when I'm driving with a car full of girls and we're headed to a party" type of feel. Bass is real heavy, the melody is really techno-ish, and it's suppose to be catchy.

Anyway, check it out:

THIS IS MEANT TO BE PLAYED AT HIGH VOLUME. SO IF YOU CAN, DO SO.

EDIT: I just wanted to mention that almost all of my songs contain a duality within them. So if you the beginning is not your cup of tea, then forward a little ways to the other part.  Let me know what you think (most importantly, let me know if it sounds professionally made).

Sounds too much like Spiderman and look how those movies turned out.

Awful.

Except for the first one. (William Defoe is the ****)

And Spiderman is a WAY better superhero than Superman.

I see what your saying, and yes, it would perfect for Zelda (especially because Zelda's camera system is almost flawless). But the point I was trying to make was that you COULD manipulate the gun like that, even if you wouldn't want to most of the time.

Really, the biggest advancement is the ability to shoot anywhere on screen without disturbing your view. Even if you are not pointing exactly straight, if your gun is pointed at the screen, you will see your aiming circle, and thus can accurately shoot anywhere. No Wii game yet has separated the camera and the gun other than RE4 but it would control way better than that game, since you can still run/duck/dive/jump.

Can you imagine how deadly you could become if you could literally shoot anywhere on the screen? I'd be like duck hunt, but a FPS.

Nintendo Gaming / Re: Star Wars, the Force Unleashed.
« on: September 03, 2008, 01:59:32 PM »
So I played the demos for the PS3 and it's BAD ASS. The graphics are slick and the control is tactile. The ability to wipe out massive amounts of soldiers with just a charged up FORCE PUSH is exhilarating. Not to mention lifting a trooper 20 stories off the ground and watch him fall to his death. It's a must buy.

Still, not every thing is perfect. Someone mentioned early that you can't move and block at the same time and they're right. It's straight up BULLSHIT. It auto blocks (kinda) against weak fire when your running, but it's nothing compared to the block button (especially facing AT-ST's and the like). One other gripe is the lack of accuracy when wanting to pick up items. The way the locking system works is dumb. It shows you what you are facing (and thus, what you can pick up) by highlighting the object with a blue outline; you can't highlight a person right behind an object and you can't highlight something you are not facing. Luckily, it gives priority to your enemies rather than boxes, but it's still a pain in the ass. The Wii could easily simplify this by allowing you to point to what you want to apply force to. Also, the Wii could simplify the saber throw. The only way you can do it now is by force gripping someone first. There were plenty of times I wanted to charge into battle by first throwing my saber like a boomerang then running up and using a mixture of lighting and push.

The game is still purchase worthy though.

I'd like to start off by saying, could the nunchuck house the MotionPlus?

But let me digress....If I'm assuming correctly, MotionPlus requires calibration at the beginning of the game in order for it to know where and how you are manipulating the controller in space. It's because of this calibration that it knows where you are pointing even if it's off screen. Now stay with me for this next part. If it knows where your pointing off screen, then it can use that information accordingly in game. That is nutz and let me tell you why.

In a FPS, if they can figure out how to move and look around without the need for the wiimote, the possibilities for the genre EXPLODE. I remember waaaaaay back when I wrote a piece about how the revolution controller would work, describing the FPS genre in detail. One of the things I mentioned was the ability to shoot behind you. Now, that might actually be possible! But before I get into that, let me explain the setup.

NOTE: I'm assuming the nunchuck would need a motionplus upgrade for any of this to work, unless someone more clever than I can figure out an alternative setup.

Imagine the nunchuck controlling your "body" (both your movement and your view), and the wiimote controlling everything else. You would walk by using the analog stick and move your view around by tilting the nunchuck. Looking up would require you to tilt the nunchuck's nose up, similar to a plane. To look to the left or right, you would rotate the nunchuck on its side. The sensitivity could be changed to allow for slower or faster turning, but regardless, very subtle movement of the nunchuck is all that is needed to move the camera. These two control methods would result in circle strafing that would consist of tilting the nunchuck in one direction and holding the analog stick in the opposite direction. As crude and as uncomfortable as that may sound, it frees up the wiimote for possibilities that just weren't achievable before.

We all love the ease of aiming that only the wiimote can provide, but we dislike the fact that our aiming controls the camera in tandem. The idea of being able to shoot anywhere on the screen like a light gun intrigues us, but having a bounding box deliberately restricts us. With some clever programming and game and level designs, one could make an engaging experience regardless of the restrictions (MP3); but the fact still stands, at it's best, the wiimote acts more like a trackball than a pointing device. With this setup I am describing, the wiimote will act more like wand than a pointing device. The difference is huge. The reason being that the wiimote is finally detached from your view.

Now, imagine walking around in the game world with your nunchuck, looking at different objects high and low, left and right. You only have one item; a gun. With your wiimote controlling your gun 1:1, you have the ability to twist and turn, tilt and point, and rotate your gun however you please. And since your gun is independent of your view, you can manipulate and shoot the gun off screen. That means, I could literally shoot behind me or even shoot myself. But let me back track. When your pointing the wiimote at the screen, you will see your hand and your gun. You will have the ability to see exactly where you aiming, and more importantly, you have the ability to shoot anywhere on the screen. I hope I explained this well enough because I'd like to describe exactly why this is so monumental.

There are many reasons why this would change the FPS forever. For one, you could control anything 1:1 without disrupting your view. You could use your items in a 3D space without being restricted by your "window" or view. That means you could literally shoot blindly around corners, above crates and even behind you.

Interestingly enough, you could attach an item to your nunchuck, such as a flashlight or another gun. Since you are controlling the view anyway, it would work the exact same way it always has; with your aim attached to the center of the screen. So exploring that decrepit moonlit farm with your flashlight in one hand (nunchuck) and your gun in the other (wiimote) would be all the more engaging. The possibilities are seemingly endless, especially when you start thinking about other genres.

I know, that picture isn't great (unfortunately that's the best image I could find) but really it's just tender and succulent lamb meat (pull apart-able by hand with the littlest of effort) with rice, bread, and nuts (if you've never had Arabic rice, it's boiled in the broth of the meat you cooked) . If you just KINDA like lamb and that platter is in the room, after that first bite, you wouldn't want to do anything else but to literally stick your face into it and gorge the **** out. It's soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo fucking tasting.

So if the Wii represents the woman that loves it casually, does that mean the 360 and PS3 are the hoes that do ANYTHING because they are hardcore? I mean, the kind that are happy if you go all bukkake on them then finish it off with a little Cleveland steamer on their chest...and you watch them eat it afterwards?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHHAHA

That's true. While RE4 was more action orientated, it still made you fear for your life. RE5 sounds like it wants you to run in gunz-a-blazing, totally ruining the fear factor.

It may still turn out awesome, but it's not really RE anymore.

I know a girl that isn't a vegetarian and she has near perfect skin AND hair.

BTW, Lamb is the BEST red meat. Hands down.

The post was awesome until you put your foot in your mouth.

Give me a thick cut of beef (or porterhouse steak or T-Bone steak if we're being specific) and BBQ it up medium-rare with a bit of pepper to taste. Or perhaps you Yankees don't know how to BBQ right.

Anything lamb is a distant second to this king of cuts.

BEEf

As much as I love cooking my own rib-eye, nothing beats the taste of mensaf; the traditional Jordan meal. I've had it literally 6 times in two weeks and it was perfect every time. It's slow-cooked lamb on a bed of flat bread with rice and grilled pine nuts with a savory yogurt sauce. It comes on a huge platter for everyone to enjoy together.

And yes, that is a lambs head right in the middle (the tongue's a delicacy).

Both of those statements are ridiculous. Fish (and seafood in general) are delicious; sushi especially. Just because "it smells bad" is not an excuse not to AT LEAST try it. Ever smelled pussy? There's not a man in the world that hasn't eaten that.[/b]

had me crackin up at work (now everyone thinks i'm crazy) but i must say, you must be eating the wrong kind if it smells like fish bro ;)

i expect more from a player of your caliber

Sorry, Wiggles, I hate ranch, even if it's on titties. Plus, the point was to make it look like I busted a nut. It would have sent the wrong message if I started licking it up. ;)

Secondly, I wasn't equating pussy with the smell of fish. Let's be clear, I have only eaten a girl out twice and neither of them smelt like fish. However, what i was saying was that pussy doesn't smell like roses and tulips either. You'd have to agree.

what better to dip your buffalo wings in?

Blue Cheese or Ranch Dressing?

A combination of the two, w/ a pint of Fat Tire.

You sir, are the man. Fat Tire...I miss you sooooo much (can't buy it where I live). BTW, it's all about the cheese.

Pale wins. You're supposed to use Blue Cheese, that's how the family that invented it served it. Buffalo sauce is easy to make too, it's Frank's red hot, garlic, and butter. The more butter you add, the less intense the flavor is, so keep that in mind when you order wings - if you choose "mild", then you're eating a whole lot of butter. Also, Ranch dressing is for girls, and it's the most white-trashiest thing to ever happen to a salad...and every other food item that us Americans (and by us, I mean everyone that isn't me) add it to.

This post is full of win. I know at least 6 chicks that love ranch. I mean, they absolutely LOVE IT! They'll eat it with anything; I mean everything. I even played a prank on one of them, where I tossed a dipping cup full of ranch onto her exposed cleavage and guess what? She lapped it up! Case in point.

name them? cuz buffalo wings are my fave, with blue cheese.

While I love the classic taste, there are some amazing ways to make wings. There's Caribbean jerk (real Caribbean jerk, not that B-Dubs bullshit) just to name one. I enjoy making my own sauce as well ( Thai peanut sauce! It's a mix of lime, soy sauce, peanut butter, garlic, chili peppers, minced onions, and sugar).

I won't eat veal, and I hate Fish. Fish are so nasty to me it smells bad, why eat something that doesn't smell good.

chicken wings are nice, but i want to go for the meat the bone just wastes precious seconds from eating meat and is tedious.

Both of those statements are ridiculous. Fish (and seafood in general) are delicious; sushi especially. Just because "it smells bad" is not an excuse not to AT LEAST try it. Ever smelled pussy? There's not a man in the world that hasn't eaten that. But seriously, different type of fish can have hugely different flavors. Start of with some Salmon, preferably grilled with a twist of lemon. You should at least try sushi some time in your life as well; if anything, just to be a little more cultured. Also, does your "it smells bad" include other types of seafood. Cuz calamari and crabs are fucking delicious; nuff said.

And not eating chicken because it takes too long? How busy are you? Please, and I'm being serious; enjoy your food. We may be animals, but we are not savages. Plus, some people around the world don't have the simple pleasure of biting into a delicious turkey leg. So enjoy it.

I don't trust vegetarians. Its like they've got some sort of motive which is obvious and subtle at the same time.

My motive in being a vegetarian is not to get cancer from eating tortured dead animals who've been injected with growth hormones and other disgusting chemicals to make them meatier and/or tastier.  Also, I like the sense of moral superiority it gives me.  (I truly believe I'm a better person than those who eat meat.)

Well, first off, there are plenty of people who eat meat and do not get cancer. That's an absurd statement. Secondly, you seem to characterize the farming industry as a whole as a profit hungry, do whatever to get ahead, type of business. It's a business, yes, but that's just mean; considering that a **** load of people depend on them. Yes, there are farmers looking to sell meat that you wouldn't really want to eat (for instance, Mcdonald's serves dairy cows that can't produce any more milk or are past their prime). But if your so worried about the health and care of the chicken or cow or lamb or turkey you are eating, there are ways to get meat from properly cared animals. Plus, you said it yourself, you obviously like chicken. Hell, your willing to eat something that isn't even chicken. So your argument goes out the window. There's no real reason why anyone should be vegetarian unless your religion tells you not to. However, if you don't eat something because you don't want to support the black market that it supports [i.e. Shark fin soup] then by all means. But if your doing it for that smug feeling, then I really feel sorry for you.

by the way all this talk of feeling superior to someone for not eating meat or eating meat is stupid.

Talk to me when you've eaten unicorn

Lil' Wiggles strikes again!

BTW, Lamb is the BEST red meat. Hands down.
