Wow....

Anyway, Microsoft is working on a smartwatch. Apple is working on a wristband. Google is working on glasses.

We will all soon be assimilated.

Eh....kinda gruesome and not very funny.

Should have said something like "Those 'I survived the Boston marathon' shirts now have a whole new meaning".

Or something about how everyone would have been fine if they were Kenyan.

I always laughed when I watched my friend play this back in the day. It was like watching someone try to walk with hamster wheels for shoes.

But karma got me back because the game I broke several things over was double dragon. So many times I would die just because some asshole decided it was a good idea to make jump a two button command.

In terms of how hard a game should be especially in those days, I would look to contra. Not only was it not cheap, but if you thought it was you could bring a friend along to help you out or do the now famous code and bump up your lives.

General Gaming / Re: What was the best year for gaming?

Best year of gaming is this year and the next and so forth because I can play all the games you all mentioned right now.

But if I had to play by the rules,  I'd say whenever mariokart 64 came out and slumber parties consisted of no slumber whatsoever.

Ians argument: But is it the console the market will buy?

Valid point.

Playing console games will never be as niche as it once was, but if the cost of entry keeps increasing, it will be a luxury only enthusiasts enjoy.

Maybe at the time we weren't better off with CDs, but in retrospect, how many of those cartridges have stood the test of time?

Damn it, UB.

You got my hopes up.

But it won't play used games. That's a loss.

I wonder if I could even take a game to a friends place.

Or they could come home and the house collapses.

I'm going to learn to program and steal this idea.

If it lets me play it....

Just make sure on the last level you have the person kill themselves and there's nothing the player can do about it.

The person comes home (which is how you tell you beat the level) but instead of hearing the victory jingle, it follows them inside and you watch as this person prepares a noose and then hangs himself.

Thr horror on the gamers faces. Priceless.

The reason the wii was so popular was its controller first and its price second. If it had been an HD system and cost 350-400 bucks I truly doubt it would have been as successful (although the shortages clearly identified how much a few people where willing to pay).

No it's not a pic with a pun or an article that if read sarcastically explains why the gaming industry is up its own ass. Its just a hilarious idea that Nintendo would never make.

Meet Jeb.

Jeb is going to die at some point today. It could be a car accident, it could be falling down the stairs, it could even be an attack by a pack of squirrels. The point is, he is going to die, unless you help him.

You can't actively help him or manipulate him directly. You can only set the parameters for the day. Is it a sunny or rainy day? Will his car start? Does he forget his cellphone? Does he wake up late? And so on. If it's sunny and his car doesn't start, then he'll walk to work...and get attacked by a pack of squirrels. If he wakes up late and it's rainy, he'll drive faster to get to work...and die in a car accident.

There is a way to save his life. A unique combination of factors is all it takes to get Jeb through the day. And onces he's safe, you meet Mary.

Ian lacks imagination.

There is a whole thread dedicated to new game ideas and it covers the mundane to the ambitious. I suggest you read it.

Now does that solve the issue of developers being less than creative with the DS, 3DS, and Wii U? No. The potential is still there, however.

1192
If Advance wars allowed for multiple games at once, then yeah..that would be wonderful.

1193
There is far more pressure on Pikmin 3 than any other game, not only as a game itself, but a system seller.

1194
I always thought playing a game like chess with connect24 would have worked fantastically. Get home from work and see the wii breathing with a new move to ponder.

1195
So let me get this straight...

Durango has always on and constantly uploads video feed ro Microsoft through the Kinect. Talk about invasive.

Also it might not allow used games and it could cost 500 bucks? Who is this product for?

1196
Miyamoto as boring and conservative? SUPER, there is a new challenger approaching.

1197
How quickly things turn sour on this forum where there is nothing to play. I wonder if Retro can single handily shut everyone the **** up.

I feel like the iphone doesn't know what to do with itself. A slightly larger screen and a spec bump is considered an upgrade.

I am intrigued by the upcoming apple wristband since it's something I've dreamt about having damn near 5 years ago. Nothing worse than taking out your phone to check a notification only to find out its extremely unimportant. Get it done apple and I might switch from android.
