I haven't tried to make any stages of my own yet, but I've downloaded some nifty ones that I've found around online. Should a new thread be started to keep track of stages?
Overall I feel that Bangai-O is like Contra but in space and every fight is like a giant robot anime final battle. It's also the only DS game I own that hurts my hands. I love it.

Nice try, but the Bangai-O sound transfer didn't work for me, maybe Nick can upload it and post the link in the future? I also liked the feature about story driven gameplay I like the concept and I'll check out the games too.

Are you one of those crazies who believes the company changed from "Kentucky Fried Chicken" to "KFC" because they couldn't legally call the product chicken anymore?  Because that's dumb.

It's not as dumb as you think. Go check your faqs and see if that equals what a chicken bird is. It's not rocket science, but total brain surgery on society. I'm not saying I wouldn't eat it, but I wouldn't call it chicken that's for sure.

Not in the slightest, The Colonel was a master at his art, but if he was alive and found out what was being done with his vision he'd start twistin wigs back for sure.

Well considering that was all Nintendo showed at E3 they had to write something about it and stick it somewhere. I also saw Wii Music on a top 21 Wii Games from GamePro.

There's a million other games that could have taken that spot, hell, I'll even take "The Price is Right" over that!

OOOOOH Bob Barker FTW! I love The Price Is Right!
But seriously I totally agree with you and everyone else on the planet- Wii Music is stupid.

Is anyone planning to crash their party at the Nintendo World Store? I was going to go and ask the staff insane and valid questions, but I may just show up to grab free swag.

My DS was a replacement from Nintendo and has a dead pixel. I've had it for almost three years and the D Pad is slowly deteriorating and my birthday is in September- new Silver Metallic or however you want to call it is mine!

I'm a subscriber since last year and saw the migration to Future and I've decided that I won't renew again. There's little I don't know by the time the mag gets to me although it is nice to read interviews.

Last time I checked Sony and Microsoft have contractual deals with the US Military and Nintendo doesn't. That's the honest to for real serious truth why I really opted for another Nintendo machine. Not to mention I grew up with Nintendo and more than their consoles I've always enjoyed every incarnation of hand held they've released. That isn't to say I don't see a XBox or PS3 game and say- 'Well that would be fun to play' and indeed I visited my friend for a few days and we played alot of XBox, but I couldn't justify spending my money and not pretending where its going.

Nintendo Gaming / Re: Mario Kart Wii Mega Thread
« on: August 25, 2008, 08:32:52 PM »
I've had a serious love/hate relationship with the Wheel, at first I just couldn't use it and instead I opted for the wiimote/nunchuck set up. A few months ago I started playing with King Boo and decided to give the wheel another chance- and for the first time it felt smooth and very comfortable. Now I use the wheel all the time and have gotten back to face the malicious computer.
Also the music in the game isn't special in anyway, it seems somewhat bland and I've replaced the music with a cd that is probably the best soundtrack I've ever heard for Mario Kart. I put it on when a friend came over to play and he loved it. I think that Bollywood Steel Guitar was made for Mario Kart.

I just got it and playing through the tutorial is sort of lengthy and it makes me crave the actual game more, but I'm afraid on missing out on small details. I should be eating dinner, I should be continuing work on my Halloween costume, but instead I'm all over this crazy ass game. Also it finally broke me away from Final Fantasy IV. It was worth the wait. Also China Town, NYC- I brought your only copy Mwahahahaha!!!

Nintendo Gaming / Re: Jam Sessions
« on: August 03, 2008, 02:07:26 PM »
I own this and I feel while it's not bad, it's not great. The most I can really pull out of it is hammered power chords, which is alright if you want to play chunky funk gitt-ar. I have a line in to my stereo and blow it out there, an actual amp hook up is possible and the game has effects that you can tweak so you can modify the output in that regard.
If you want to really integrate this with another sound system I would actually pass because it recreates the feeling of plucking one string. I figure anything else this portable wouldn't as minimal as Jam Sessions ultimately reveals itself to be.
Personally I like the minimalist approach because it adds a challenge for me to create more depth than what may appear to be.

Maybe this will finally be my big break!

I perform and I've added a dynamic to my art with the DS in the past using Electroplankton and effect pedals, I think with the Korg the experience will be richer.
Hey, you never know! ;D

Indeed!  Any videos up of such a performance?
[/quote]

Unfortunately no- I was robbed of all my equipment years back when I was doing it. But once I'm prepared a video will be made for sure.

Im going to take it to an open mic and use it to make a beat so I can sing Hold On by Wilson Phillips over it.

That's awesome.  Allow me to suggest the use of vocal effects, if possible (maybe a vocoder, like that Cher song in which she sounds like a robot).

It's easy to hook up effect pedals to the DS, you can affect the entire system with just a few knobs and switches.

I am so intrigued by this that I will buy it and, like most things of this sort in my collection of junk, never use it to its full potential due to the effort involved.
I actually am waiting for this to come out so I can begin an extensive sound project. If I treated this as something to mess around with I'd sort of just be wasting its potential. Sound, not necessarily music.

TalkBack / Re: Raise Your Standards
« on: July 24, 2008, 07:25:42 AM »
The graphical style for the upcoming Ghostbusters games is something that burns me. The other systems get the same game that has a realistic visual setting while the Wii version is outright cartoonish. I bet that the game will be fun to play, but the graphical style makes me feel like I'm not going to be playing the same game and won't get the same experience. I can understand that happening to a portable title, but I also won't pretend like the Wii couldn't handle a realistic design.
Whining gets nothing done so again, as consumers is there any way that voting with your dollar makes any impact? Some titles you just can't stop and all the rest just die on the shelves and become rental zombies. I can raise my standards all I want, but then I end up sounding like a whining Nintendo fan. Is there any way the consumer voice can be heard in the video game industry?

More and more peripherals just keep coming don't they? I feel like I've spent more on peripherals than actual games at this point. One day the Wii will just be a suit that you can wear- Wii Mech!

Metal Slug 7
Moon
Bangai-O Spirits
Korg DS 10
GTA

I liked Luminous Arc a lot so I'm excited about this. A soundtrack bundle is strange, but alright. I always beef about game music, but having it on a cd takes it to a new context. Square Enix titles are $39.99 and you mostly get refried material so it's nice to get kick back from somewhere. Yay Atlus!
