Are PS5s just collecting dust on Japanese shelves? I know it's pretty supply-constrained in the west, but those Japan numbers are really bad and make me think it's something more than Sony just shifting more units to western markets and worrying about Japan when they can get big software releases for that market.

I checked Amazon Japan and they are currently sold out of PS5's. I am not sure about physical retail locations.

While far from scientific, I personally assume that if certain things aren't on Amazon, they're probably in limited stock.  I'm kind of stuck assuming that Sony is shipping units to other markets and de-prioritizing Japan.  280K out of the what 3.5M units sold being in Japan feels like a pretty low percentage.  Too low to say that's not by design.

I really like this analysis.  The loud crashing noise the couple dealt with in the episode being explained by the tree was probably Wanda hoping for some simple explanation, while not being accepting that this town she's projecting over has been breached by a crashing helicopter.  She then decides that because the best her powers could do with the helicopter was turn it into a toy (that was in color), she had to adapt her world into something that wouldn't allow the toy to stand out, hence the shift to a 70s sitcom in technicolor.

Don't forget the Blood on the hand of the blonde girl that broke the glass. that was in color too.

As for the neighbors, Agnes and the Black man both know something.
I don't know the comics that well, but speculation is that Agnes is actually Agatha Harkness... not sure who the Black man would be, but him cutting through the brick wall and then wanting to tell Vision something when he was away from Wanda, and Agnes whispering something to stop him, let's me know they are both very aware of what's going on, but for some reason have to keep playing along.

The doctor was trying to leave town, but was confused as to how hard it was to do that.... but Geraldine/Monica found out how easy it is to get (thrown) out the hard way.
Wanda almost had a Carrie moment once Ultron was mentioned. and the frame skip reset of Vision when he started to question ****, almost had me rewind because I thought something happened to my stream. LOL

The blood is another good moment of showing Wanda's power over the town slipping.  She clearly had lost control with the radio of someone clearly trying to reach her.  Then she slips and the woman cuts her hand, something else unexpected, so more reality breaks through.

Interesting take on Agness.  I was thinking something was up with her because of the husband that's frequently referenced but never seen.  However, I'm not sure if I buy that both of them are in on whatever's going on, since they both had to be aware of the weirdness of the outsider.  They may also suspect something is wrong with the world around them.

The doctor being unable to leave town is hilarious.  There was also a moment where someone comments that no one leaves their small town, but idk if that was the same guy.

I think the neighbors felts something was off because she was an outsider.  If she managed to sneak into the town, then there wouldn't be a place for her, yet Wanda's powers kind of shoehorned her into the setting she's created for herself.

Articles online are claiming that Geraldine is Monica Rambeau as an adult now. Did I miss something in the episode to clarify this or did the casting reveal it somehow? Or are people just assuming?

I believe it was the casting.  I think she had been previously casted to play Monica in some future MCU thing, so her showing up here is causing people to draw the connection.

Captain America Eyes Return To The MCU As Chris Evans Nears Deal To Reprise Role In Future Marvel Project

Still vague if deal as completely closed but insiders say its headed in that direction for Evans to return as Steve Rogers aka Captain America in at least one Marvel property with the door open for a second film. Sources add it’s unlikely to be a new Captain America installment and more likely to be like what Robert Downey Jr. did after Iron Man 3, appearing in films like Captain America: Civil War and Spider-Man: Homecoming.

The first one, when you take it in a historical context, is pretty dang amazing. 

That's fair.  The context does matter with a film like that.

Superman 2 is okay at best.  Those movies just don't really do much for me personally.

I counter that with how Superman copes with a world around him that ages as he doesn't could make for interesting plot lines.  I think eventually he'd leave the planet as dealing with the JL and people in general would naturally frustrate him over the years.

LM3 and Srikers (GC) were good games to me, so I'm excited Nintendo decided to protect their relationship with that stuido.  If the majority shareholders were looking to sell, Next Level would've been an easy target for MS and others, even without a hot, original IP.  I also like the idea of Nintendo engaging in M&A activity in general.

Tenet

I freaking loved this movie.  I honestly thought it made perfect sense through out.  There were a few things I would've liked to see explained more, but they're largely irrelevant and some made more sense as I thought about it later.  This movie takes the "Looper" route and literally tells the audience to try not to think about it too much, but once they really get going with inverted people, the movie is fine.  The protagonist's name being "The Protagonist" was kinda silly also.  Speaking of, he has such a Tintin vibe in that he's kind of just going along with the adventure and seeing it through because that's just how he gets down, and I like that.  "It's your job to go stop WW3", "Ok" and that's all the character motivation you get.

The action scenes are so fun, and there's people moving backwards and forwards in them and they're so fun to watch.  You get to see a lot of them from both perspectives, which is a treat and works very well.

I recommend watching with subtitles to make it easier to follow, but basically all the action scenes have someone/something with reversed entropy so you just have to keep in mind which way the protagonist is heading.

• All three Smash DLC characters make it out this year. No Pokemon, one last anime boy, another boss villain, with my wild card being Lala and Lolo.
  
• Metroid happens, but only in trailer form.
  
• Nintendo continues to do focused, "Direct Minis" without a "big one". (No non-single game specific Directs over 35 minutes.)
  
• Bayonetta 3 is the Halloween release
  
• Another follow up for Ring Fit Adventure (a free update or paid DLC)
  
• Rhythm Heaven (or Wario Ware) finally comes to Switch
  
• Sinnoh Remakes, mega evolution is still dead.

Wasn't there studio interference with the first one?  I recall some talk that the final fight scene was designed to fit the Snyder-verse look, but I may be misremembering.

Wonder Woman 1984

Woof. I don't know how Patty Jenkins made a movie as good as Wonder Woman then made a movie as bad as its sequel. Granted, this is not the first time this has happened though I find it odd that this seems to happen with superhero movies a lot.

I worry she went in with an "all of my ideas are good ideas" mentality and just left too much **** in there and didn't leave room to explain enough of it.

UNMARKED SPOILERS BELOW
(To be honest, I don't think this movie is good enough to justify the time needed to individually mark spoilers or really, the length of this post, but I had a lot of feelingz)

Not adding spoiler tags, so fair warning, lol.

Then, there's the weird moral quandary of Steve's soul/consciousness being magically placed in some random man's body instead of simply appearing as himself. Diana and Steve definitely ****, meaning both of them just used this hapless dude's body yet neither of them act like that's completely reprehensible. Then, that man shows up at the end none the wiser so I presume he was not aware for any of that (except he probably was). WHAT WAS GAINED FROM THIS? Just bring back Steve in his own pre-blown up body and have him disappear when Diana renounces her wish. After speaking to a friend, I am not the first person to think the Steve-Not-Steve thing was bizarre. This begs the question of how this made it into the final cut. Wonder Woman 1984 was delayed eleventy-billion times. No one in like two years thought it might be a good idea to cut/reshoot that part?

I don't get how that guy is just walking around like his life is normal?  He either is aware of what happened or has no memory of the last few days, which would cause most people to go to a hospital.  He was also all over the White House, so he probably should've been answering some questions from the Secret Service, maybe?

Anyway, many of the issues in this movie stem from the Dreamstone as its rules were particularly unclear. . .

So, I think the way it worked was that the dreamstone takes something, and it could be anything.  By becoming the dreamstone, Max Lord could just up and decide what to take?  But with everyone making wishes, it's unclear how he can possibly keep up with taking things or why he appeared to be dying for some reason.

Later, Barbara beats up that creeper who previously harassed and assaulted her because he was harassing her again. To be honest, I was still on Team Barbara. She shouldn't be beating up people, but we're conditioned to take Barbara's side. Right? Barbara hasn't done anything terrible yet, and the guy has now street harassed her twice implying that his earlier behavior wasn't isolated. The scene plays out more like a bad person getting their comeuppance than Barbara losing a part of herself due to the ironic nature of her wish. The movie didn't commit to Barbara's heel turn when it needed to. The audience doesn't find out until later that Barbara's wish traded her warmth as a person for power and beauty. Okay. It's-not-their-fault® except that's both antagonists in this movie. Why? It's okay to have an irredeemable villain.

I had no idea what the scene was trying to convey.  It didn't even register to me that she was losing her humanity.  Why?  She beat up a guy that, let's be honest, was giving off rapist energy.  He got what he deserved, but she was slightly embarrassed because the homeless guy she was nice to saw that happen?  Pfft.

I'm not sure what Barbara gained by using her freebie wish from Max to be “an apex predator”. She already had Diana's powers and literally just bested her in combat. On top of that, the makeup and CGI were not great. This movie was such a flustercuck that I'm 97% sure there's a version of Cheetah with a CGI butthole. #ReleaseTheButtholeCut

I'm still not even clear on how she got a second wish.  The rule was everybody got one, but did that reset when Max Lord became the dreamstone?

Soul

Pixar does it again.  Not sure what else to say.  It's a great film, lots of feels, good enough plot.  While I don't have a ton to say about it, but I highly recommend it.  Best film I saw today.

I'm a little bit warmer on the fight scenes, but I agree with The Perm that a lot could be cut to improve the movie.  A little bit does need to be added because Maxwell Lord's plan is never explained.  I know it's tropey for a villain to explain their plan, but when the plan is as convoluted as his, it needs to be explained.  I still have no idea what his endgame was, and early on it isn't clear why he didn't just wish that his oil-based ponzi scheme would work out, but I guess they explain that specific part later.

Anyway, I'd definitely cut the opening scene.  I still don't know why they put in another child scene, with this one building to nothing in particular.  The movie also does a bit of stretching to get to the ending, but I guess it made sense.  The scene where Diana learns how to fly kinda could also be cut or just made shorter while things like how she's been experimenting with making things invisible could've been explored more.

Did either of you get Applecare+ for Apple Watch or iPhone?

I did not. My Apple Watch was a gift, and I missed the window to get the Applecare plan.  I will say that I did regret it after cracking the screen, but other than that I've had no issues, particularly none that would've sent me to the Apple Store.  The physical repair was kinda expensive (to the point where I considered buying a new one instead, but decided to save the money), and there aren't a ton of 3rd party options.  Now, I will say that I walked pretty hard into a concrete wall, which is not something I did twice.  The Apple Store person also said there was water damage, but I'm not sure if it was from the crack or something else.  I think I've swam with it on since the repair, so I think that's fine.

The Apple Watch Series 6 has been mostly extraneous so far as I only bought it to be on the same timeline as the iPhone (which I plan to keep for three years from now on), and I'm not returning to the gym any time soon.

I like using the watch with Fitness Boxing and Ring Fit Adventure (and Just Dance).  The "Fitness Gaming" option works well there.  The watch really helps me stay motivated to do my at-home Switch workouts.

I think that's a safe assumption. I think Mii costumes are Sakurai's way of implementing characters who didn't make the cut.

There's no Waluigi costume so there's still hope!

I mean, there could be.  But I think Waluigi has been left out of the pool since he was confirmed as an assist trophy.  But it would make for the "ultimate" troll to have Waluigi as the final DLC character.  The trailer alone would be crazy.

I'm much more annoyed by Hulu's annual price hike, since that service has felt more stagnant to me and has had UI/functionality issues for some time.

Also annoying because it is the only service with ads unless you want to pay an exorbitant premium. The potential to remove ads would be why I am hopeful they roll Hulu into D+.

I use them for cable as well, so I just said "**** it" and went all out.  One issue is that some content is there because of the live TV, and I can't skip commercials.  But other stuff is there because Hulu, and I never know which is which.

I think that because the D+ content volume issue has so much to do with the pandemic, I'm a little more relaxed about it.  I wish they put out more stuff over the past year, and I agree with BnM that offering a discount for the 3yr buyers would be nice since we prepaid for a year that mostly wasn't.  The amount of stuff coming out feels like a flood of content to justify a price hike, but honestly, they can just give me the loot and let me decide how I feel in March.

Not mad that it’s Sephiroth though a little surprised Nintendo went back to the Final Fantasy VII well. I wonder if Square Enix is still going to be stingy with the music. 😒

This was my first question as well.  The character is cool, but if SE is going to be stingy with the music AGAIN, then it's a disappointment.
