I wish I could post pictures, but basically it is a patent for a wireless glove that is to act as some sort of force feed-back controller that you wear on your hands. It is being designed to work with the PS3 and also seems very reminiscent <sp> of the NES Power Glove at least in concept. I don't know how this is supposed to work with anything that may need analog control cause I don't see a gyro-scope like device (something that will measure the X-Y-Z axis')
edit: obvious spelling errors

Sony has stated previously that
Quote Sony is working on new menuing systems that will allow players to navigate them simply by moving their hands. Mr. Harrison compared the next-generation game menu's to the futuristic computer database used by Tom Cruise in the film "Minority Report."
And also that the Eye-toy is the first step at using physical movement as a primary input device.
Quote "EyeToy was a signpost for things in the future. If you can attach very high-resolution, low-cost video cameras you can deduce some quite interesting things about their users. We'll be able to extrapolate eye movement and gestural recognition, more complicated finger movement, and the logical next step of that is to deduce from a person's facial expression and demeanour what their emotion state is,"

Do you mean 'Johnny Mnemonic' ? What about 'The Lawnmower Man'?
But anyway what kind of games/apps do you see this device being used for, other that the complex 'Minority Report' menu's they supposedly plan on having?

Didn't people ask the same about the touchscreen? Use your imagination, think virtual weaponry, excessive use of Havoc physics, etc...

I think Johnny Mnemonic came before the Lawnmower Man. I could be wrong. personally I don't care too much for abusurdly complex menus. Anyway, in the Lawn Mower man they had virtually connected the brain to the net while in Johnny Mnemonic they did that through a device through phyiscal motion.
I consider touch screens more of a compacted mouse set up. I consider power gloves a poor way to control anything. Slow, unituative, overly phyisical. I mean how would it feel after swinging your arm round for a couple hours. people already get RSI froom today's devices let alone another divce that produces even more movement.

It wouldn't be as repetitive. After all, how many baseball players suffer from RSI?

When I try and think up games we'll likely see that use the glove and the eye-toy together, I seem to think of some sort of Dance Dance Tae Bo, with a floor mat included. All body work out game to music, could be very popular at the arcades, and at home!!

Well a lot of baseball players suffer from arthritis, many more suffer from destruction of tendons and ligaments, so maybe that wasn't the best example?

Lawnmower Man came out in 1992, Jonny Mnemonic in 1995. A new powerglove could be cool, a huge stepup in technology from the 15+ year old nes one. Don't just envision it being arm swings, it won't be long until individual finger movement is utilized. It would be cool if you could use it for lockpicking in games.

I've only seen Minority Report.
That doesn't seem like it would work real well. So their not having controllers but some glove? I'd much rather have a controller anyday.

could this be the thing nintendo was trying to get at with the nintendo revolution... "completely innovative", "will change the way you play games presently" nintendo likes to rehash they're ideas and build on them... oh ya and another question... wasn't nintendo supposed to release they're equivilent of the eyetoy long b4 sony... for games like centerstage or w/e its called?

I don't believe so...
anywhos, this power glove, knowing sony, will be uber complicated. something like this is daunting to the general public, meaning it's not going to be easy for them to use. Nintendo has been focused on "pick an play" tactics lately...if they do something uber innovative like a power glove, I'd expect something easy to use, super simple, and fun on the first try. I expect the exact opposite from sony.
