Title: GDC 2004 speaker
Post by: thepoga on June 07, 2004, 01:39:29 PM
this was a long time ago, but i was just wondering if that was Eiji Aonuma speaking about the Legend of Zelda franchise or if it was a translator.

Hmmmm...I would like to know too...I could have sworn I heard that Aonuma can speak English, though...

Well, I don't know if the long translation pauses were before or after the English speaking.  But wasn't the English rather slowly spoken....?  I don't know, but I'm leaning towards Aonuma spoke it himself.......

Aonuma was speaking, then Bill Trinen translated into english that we listened to on wireless receivers with headphones.  The English translation came after Aonuma spoke in Japanese.  Aonuma only spoke a few words in english at the very begining.

Exactly.  You only hear Bill on our audio becuase I recorded it direct-feed from the little receiver they gave me.  If you want to hear what Mr. Aonuma sounds like, check out the roundtable audio we posted from the day after his GDC presentation.

Ya TYP, how'd you know they were gonna have the translators?  Unless you went on a hunch from previous years.

I just had a hunch, with all those Japanese speakers in the line-up and all...
