Title: Silks' Theory of Revolution

I figure Revolution will either resemble a laptop in functionality (basically a big GBA SP with extra bells and whistles), or it will be a portable touch-tablet console. I think it will definitely be portable, and I think you'll still be able to hook it up to a regular TV via an optional docking station. That'd be hot.
I had this revelation when I was playing my PSOne with the LCD screen - that's a perfect system. You can play console titles on the LCD screen, or hook it up to a TV and get the same experience.

I don't think so. Just doesn't make any sense.
I mean, this IS a home console. I don't want a laptop for a home console.

Thanks for those thoughtful comments. Maybe I shouldn't have used the word "laptop", because now everybody thinks that I'm talking about an actual laptop computer. I'm not. Here's what I am talking about:
- foldable, clamshell design - large LCD screen, maybe a 10-inch (wild guess) on one half - pop-open cover for game discs on the other - maybe a detachable controller that can also be used inside the system itself - a docking station that you can buy separately, so you can play it like a normal console hooked up to a TV
The main issues here are kinda like the DS - it's too big to hold, so it's a weird portable. But it'd be good for travelling in a car though.

I really think the 'revolution' will be just some sort of crappy connectivity/eReader thing that Nintendo tacks on for product differentiation. They've tried the whole 'play away from your TV' thing with the Virtual Boy, and, well, it sucked. What if you could use the DS' wireless to play games by proxy? That's the sort of semi-redundant stuff I'm talking about.
As cool as those ideas are, Nintendo is already stressing their handheld market with the both the GBA and the DS.

Also, I wasn't flaming you, you sensitive little person you. However, this is a bad idea. It is non-sensical and will require Nintendo to needlessly shrink components at a greater cost to Nintendo AND the consumer. Not to mention the added components that 90% of us won't really use ::cough::LCD::cough::, not thanks, I don't want to pay for an LCD I'm not going to use.
It will also hinder multi-player gaming.

Not necessarily. Slap wireless on the thing and you can multiplay your butt off. But, for those of you wanting to have 4-player split-screen action, maybe slap 4 joystick ports on there and hook it up to your TV (via the docking station, of course).
It's not a laptop because it doesn't have a keyboard, hard drive, or anything computer-like beyond the LCD screen. And you WOULD use the LCD if it meant you could take your home console on the road and getting virtually the same experience (albeit on a smaller screen). It'd be great to have a console that you could carry around like a laptop (the GCN sure isn't it) and plug in anywhere.
I'm really wondering what Nintendo is going to come up with though...lately it seems like they promise something completely crazy, wacky and new, but instead deliver a neat twist on an existing idea (see the Nintendo DS). I can't see them going too far away from the console-and-TV idea.

Ive had the same idea silks, posted it in the revolution section though, basically it'll make LAN and online games easier in a way and it you can use both lcd and tv screens at the same time, it'll be a big DS lol.

Whatever it is..it will be affordable to consumers and profitable for Nintendo
