Title: Shiny Pokemon ARE in Ruby/Saphire?
Post by: Pale on May 27, 2004, 08:36:24 PM
So, I may be an idiot and this may have been common knowledge...  but I just found out that shiny pokemon do exist in R/S.  Thats pretty sweet, and i got myself a shiny zigzagoon.  It all came from the old demo disc the nintendo rep threw out at work...I took it home and popped it in in order to thouroughly play through the Custom Robo demo, and the fricken thing had a gameboy connectivity download with the free shiny pokemon.  I don't know what the point is cause kids never have connectivity access to these discs, but its pretty sweet.

Alright, time to go train that bastard!

(I'm such a loser)

I don't think i've ever seen a shiny in R/S to my knowledge... of course, the odds of one are like 1 in 65,000 i believe.

well, congrats.

I've put days of playing time into my GB Pokemon games and I've only met 2 shinies...Ever...And one of them was a plant (aka the Red Gyarados) -____-

The other was a Rattatta... -__________-

I've met a tangela and a dodrio, and the tangela fled.
My friend did catch a shiny aron though.  They have red eyes- so jealous I am...

Back in 2000 my brother wasn't particularly fond of waiting for the American release of Gold/Silver so he downloaded a "not particularly legal translated copy" of the Japanese version.  The very first Pokemon he encountered was a shiny one but he couldn't catch it because at that point in the game you don't have Pokeballs yet.  That sucked.

Do shinies have some advantage over normal pokemon?

They have slightly enhanced stats and a different color, but that's it...

I just think the concept of shinies is so cool because of just how rare they are...  (ignoring that plague of the earth known as the action replay)

I had a shiny Um..something.
they turn into piloswine.

My friend managed a few other shiny's, but, with over 500 hours on a game, you tend to come across them.

Shiny pokemon tend to have a far higher % of higher than average stats, but perfect stat pokemon still are the rarest, or require complex breeding chains nearly 50 pokemon long to achieve.
