Title: I got a question about SSBM...
Post by: Snake 'n' Bake on May 15, 2004, 06:11:46 PM
My question is how can Computer players use their shield to deflect items and arrows and stuff!? I've tried but it seems impossible for a human player to do it!!

Have you ever done it?

Try lightly pressing 'R' or 'L'.  If you press R or L hard you get the standard shield.

EDIT: dang it, i knew that.  I wasn't thinking right.  Sorry about any frustration I might have caused.

Its called power shielding and it is possible.  Use the main shield the instant you are about to get hit with a projectile.

It's pretty hard to do. Here's exactly how it works. If you press a trigger and the shield forms before the projectile hits it, it will just block. If the shield forms at the exact instant that the projectile would have hit the shield if you had already activated it (i.e. the shield wall materializes on the projectile), then it will deflect back.

It's easier to do when lightly tapping the trigger.
