Title: What type of tool is needed to open a gamecube controller?
Post by: -Midian- on April 21, 2004, 12:04:55 PM
A couple of my GC controllers are having problems and need to be cleaned. Ive searched the web for hours looking for what type of screwdriver could open the pads and found nothing. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Well a heavy rock can do the trick pretty easily... unless you want to, you know, put it back together.
I don't have access to a controller right now but I do know that the Cube itself requires a gamebit to open so if the controller uses the same screws you can use one of those those.  Play Asia and a few other game import sites sell those.

If the screws are the same as a GBA's you need a Tri-Wing.

I'm no Bloodworth, but this belongs in Tech Discussion.  Just a heads-up.

Just use a regular flathead screwdriver- they work perfectly for me. Just make you sure you have one that won't strip the screw.
