Title: Mega Man Collection
Post by: Evan_G on April 13, 2004, 08:13:24 PM
This title will probably be my next Gamecube purchase. I have a question though... one of the most annoying things with the old Mega Man games was the password system. I know that the games will be emulated, but will they have some sort of save feature that doesn't require passwords? Also, will there be any graphical filters that will smooth out the old NES jaggies? The screens from Mega Man 7 look like a direct transition from the snes version, but there are fewer NES Mega Man screenshots. What is the definite release date?

Capcom USA's website says the release date is June 22, 2004. Capcom hasn't clearly given out enough details to answer the rest of your questions, but "exact translations/emulations" are heard often.

I don't want no 'smoothed out' screen filter, ala the Metroid port on Prime. I like the NES 'jaggies', dammit. ;__;

One thing to note is the date has changed several times so it could easily happen again.

I like the "Super Eagle" upscaling filter some emulators use (seems like some kind of hard edged bilinear filter). Should be possible to do that on the GC.

I'll be getting it for GBA unless there are major features cut.

I am not sure if you are aware of it but the GBA game and the Cube game are different collections. The GBA collection has the 5 original Game Boy games and the Cube collection has the console Megaman 1-8 and two games that appeared in the Arcade.
If you want more games I would go for the GC collection first unless you really liked the old Game Boy games.

The GC collection also has the video interviews with the series original developers, which I think would be more valuable to Mega Man fans that go way back.
BTW, www.minibosses.com Metal-remixes from Mega Man 2. I bought one of the last copies of the EP. IT ROCKS.
