Title: What are some hard to find Gamecube games?
Post by: Takumi on March 16, 2004, 02:25:39 AM
I know Gauntley Dark Legacy and Bust a Move 3000 are getting pretty hard to find now on the GC. What other GC games had limited print runs?

Cubivore. My local EB has a copy but they're charging a ridiculous amount of money for it. It's the only copy I've ever seen. There aren't too many titles in my area that are really hard to find. Not many good ones anyway. Skies of Arcadia is pretty hard to find now which sucks because about a year ago it was everywhere and I stupidly didn't buy it then. It took me forever to find Midway Arcade Treasures and it remains pretty rare. My copy is the only new copy I have ever seen.
Ikaruga is quite easy to find in my area. I was unaware that it was considered hard to find. Should I start buying several copies to sell on Ebay?
And of course there are the two Zelda bonus discs. I'm not sure if the collector's disc is still available but if you want to play Ocarina of Time Master Quest well good luck finding a copy.

Sonic Mega Collection is getting pretty tricky to find in stores.
Good luck finding NCAA College Basketball 2k3. It was discontinued after only a few days being released. Right now on eBay it gets bid up to $80 for a new copy. It is not worth getting if you have a PS2 or XBOX though, since on those platforms that same game goes for a budget price.
I think Conflict Desert Storm II is a tough one also, along with Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Chaos Bleeds.
BTW I can attest that Sega Soccer Slam is a rare find. I stupidly traded in my old copy. When I wanted the game back it took me many weeks to find it. Lucklily, I found it at a Pawn shop for $14 and was quite happy to pay that.

That's strange, my local Best Buy had several copies shelved just last week.

I rarely ever see Mortal Kombat V anywhere at the mall, and strangly enough, when I was helping a former Xbox fanboy get a Game Cube, we were looking for SSBM, and we couldn't find a copy anywhere! Of course that game came out 3 years ago, but it is still GCN's like number one game.

Dude, I haven't been able to find Atari vs. Nintendo anywhere!

I know. ;__; Maybe Nintendo though Atari was distributing it, and Atari thought Nintendo was. So maaaaaybe they've got all seven copies in their garden shed. GASPU!
Fun fact, every game that's not first party or an Acclaim game is rare in Australia.

Ikaruga is not rare as Best Buy.com has been shipping out many copies lately. Even my local gamestop has it new. And both stores are selling it at 19.99 new. EB near me has 11 or so copies at much more than that.
Cubivore is a little rarer but still can be found for under 30 if you look(gamestop sells it used for 19.99 and videogamedeals.com was just selling it for 30)
PSO and Skies are rare but if you look around these titles can be had around the 30 dollar price point at ebgames.com after AFF25. Gauntlet is the same.
NCAA college Basketball 2K3 is probably the rarest as I have never seen it((although I have not been looking)
Sonic Mega Collection can be found at Best Buy(everyone I go to has a copy)
Also all these are US
The PS2 has more rare games than the GCN

Hmm, I may just pick up Ikaruga now, if it's only twenty bucks. My local Gamestop has had Cubivore for 30 for almost a year now... I should probably pick that up too.
EDIT: Crap, Best Buy has already started back-ordering Ikaruga. Better get on board now if you want it. Hopefully some of the back orders will go through.

yea they were shipping and then the backorder came again. Sometimes they come through and sometimes they do not.
I think you have a pretty high chance of getting this game as it seems to come in and out all the time

Wether or not it hard to find depends on where you are some of the titles that are mentioned in the thread are in plentiful supply around here. (Wisconsin.)

If you try to buy Skies of Arcadia at EBgames.com, it is PREOWNED for 50.00. Does this make any sense?!

Considering that I once bought a brand new copy of Wave Race at EB for $10 LESS than the used price it makes perfect sense. EB's used game prices are supreme rip-offs. I've never bought a used game from them and never will.

Sega's NCAA basketball is by far the rarest, followed by Cubivore. Those are the two titles you never see in stores. There are places you can get Cubivore for about $30 though, since it wasn't a terribly popular game. You want college Bball on your cube its going to cost you.
Its probably the second most valuable game I own, behind the US version of PDS for the Saturn.
