Title: MVP Baseball 2004
Post by: CreedDBZ on February 27, 2004, 05:58:05 PM
So, I don't know if anyone is looking forward to this game. Im not a big baseball fan, but for some reason i get the urge to buy a baseball game every once in a while. My only question is how the control system works for batting and fielding. If anyone has played these in the past please let me know.

Yep, i'm getting it. I usually get a baseball game every year around this time. But by June, i'm done with it. Hopefully the Dynasty mode will be as deep as Madden because that will keep me playing .
EA actually changed the pitching interface last year, i believe, and it got good reviews. This year they've changed the batting interface(or vice versa), so we'll see.

Does anyone recall what the old control system was? Im just trying to get a feel for what i might be getting myself into. I hunted around on IGN and such but couldnt find any hard details. Oh well, MGS comes out the same day, ill be plenty busy with that. MVP 04 can wait a week or so.

I just hope the fielding control is better than Acclaims ASB 2004, that game sucked ass.

easports.ea.com has great tutorial videos. But basically the batting interface was a timed batting interface where you just timed your swing but as a modifier you could point the analog stick into left field, right field or center field to hit the ball in that direction, although you had to be careful because a left handed batter trying to push the ball to right field doesn't always work well and pulling it to left also resulted in a fair share of ground balls. So pretty much the batting interface was fairly realistic. The pitching interface was the best ever, pretty much you would select a pitch, locate it then choose the style of pitch (2 seam fastball, 4 seam fastball, curve, slider, etc) then hold down the desired pitch button and a meter, similar to the ones found in old tiger woods and madden, would come up, you hold it till it reaches the bottom of the meter then the meter comes back and you want to get into the green on the meter. It's hard to explain but it made for arguably the best pitching interface ever, I hope they don't change it too much.
