I suggest pre-ordering as soon as you can. Just make sure you ask if they are doing the deal. I know that some specific stores have already halted the pre-order deal, although no whole retail chain (just specific stores part of that chain) has done that as of yet (at least not to my knowledge).
So just pre-order as soon as you can and make sure you ask a sales associate or manager there on their status with the pre-order deal.

Thank you for ordering from EBgames.com. The status and/or ship date for each item on your order is detailed below. Here is the status of the item(s) you have ordered: The Legend Of Zelda: The Wind Waker Ordered: 1 Shipped: 0 The Legend Of Zelda: The Wind Waker Ordered: 1 Shipped: 0 ZELDA PRESALE DISC GC Ordered: 1 Shipped: 0 WEB ONLY PRESELL Ordered: 1 Shipped: 1 Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker (Pre-order bonus delivery by Feb. 16 2003 - $5 shipping surcharge) Ordered: 1 Shipped: 0
I am guessing this is the Zelda Bonus, what else could it be. Something has been shipped by UPS and I have a tracking number too. I had next day air so hopefully tomorrow I will find out what it is. That is if it doesn't snow, or at least not too much to keep from from getting into work. UPS has a hard time finding my house, which is funny because for 13 years they never had a problem, so everything go to my work address. If it's not the bonus then I don't know what it is.

its the Zelda Bonus. It looks like the EB date was right. I wonder if the stores will have the disk in earlier than the 16th.

Electronics Boutique has always been good about getting things out early, at least for me they seem to be. I got my N64 before the official launch and several games I have gotten delivered the same day they come out, which to me means they got the games in early and shipped them early. They also have from time to time upgraded my shipping to next day while only charging me for two day.

I preordered mine from a Gamestop in my hometown (I'm in another city, at college). I have been seeing all of these news updates on sites and hearing that people are getting their disks early, but I asked my mother to go to Gamestop and ask them, and they said that they haven't gotten them yet. They said that they would get them before the 16th, but that they are not allowed to give them out until the 16th. And then my mother has to send the disk to me, which means I have to wait EVEN LONGER to play.... Aaaah! I've been waiting since November... I just want my disk! :-P

I won't get mine until February 12, the latest (hopefully. I didn't get into work Friday because of about five to nince inches of snow so it wouldn't have mattered if I got in or not. Well at least it gives me a few more day to finish Skies of Arcadia Legends (again, already beat the Dreamcast version back in 2001)

Ok, I have not yet preordered The Wind Waker and it is the 11th. But, I need to get a lot of things staright so everything works out and stuff. So I need to ask some questions. You ARE allowed to preorder after Feb. 16 and that is when stores will actually start handing you the game? Even though there is a good chance the Bonus disc will be sold out and you'll just have to wait? OR should I just order it online through EBGames.com (it doesn't matter if you preorder it before or after the 16th as long as it isn't March 24) and get the bonus disc and WW separately? PLZ ANSWER TEH QUESTIONS. Thank you.

Changed the topic a bit so people see this as the place to post about the bonus disc.

My Electronics Boutique (Belair MD) has the Zelda Freebie game, but they are refusing to hand it out until February 16. :-(

Since this is the offical bonus disc thread now (Thanks to Bloodworth, who finally gave us an official thread to post in ) I'll re-post my...post....
I went to my "local" Target, it's an hour away from here (I was going there anyway though because I needed to get the next book in the Wheel of Time series, and no one around here has it), and low and behold, they had about six left, sitting on the ground behind the counter in a cardboard box decorated with the OoT/MQ art. I asked the woman behind the counter what I had to do to get one of them babies (you know, started taking off my shirt and...er, nevermind). I asked if I could have one if I preordered TWW, and of course she had no idea. Luckily a male employee was walking by just then and she asked him. He said that they were for the preorder but they didn't have any slips, so they were just giving them away. I didn't even have to preorder! I fell over backwards on my ass with glee, then realized I was actually standing, though I don't know how that was possible. I had gone in there only because someone in a different forum saying Target was giving them away for one cent, thinking that I would be disappointed, that they wouldn't have them at all, and came out with a free game! A couple teenagers had watched all of this with interest and took my lead, asking for the game, walking away happily. I was still trying to decide which I should kiss, the guy who gave me the game, or the cute blonde who knew nothing about it. I decided I should just walk away before they could change their minds. I wonder how Nintendo would react upon hearing that many Targets are doing this, taking away valuable preorders by giving the bonus disc for free? So now on the 16th when Toys R Us starts handing out the discs, I'm going to go preorder TWW with 10 bucks (to insure I get TWW on release date as well as to get another disc), sell that one on Ebay, and then pick up TWW on March 28th (or sooner if it's anything like this bonus disc). People are actually paying upward of $30 bucks for this bonus disc! They have a technical term for that, it's "ignorance." These people are paying 20 or 30 or whatever, because they dont know they can get it either free, or by preordering Zelda. I love the casual gamer. I love Nintendo. I love this friggin country.
As for the movies on the disc, they are very cool, especially Zelda: TWW. It's pretty long and mainly shows what we've all seen in online downloads, but it's so much cooler seeing it on my 29" TV at home. Then there's F-Zero, MP, Wario World, TLoZ: ALttP/The Four Swords, 1080 Avalanche, and "Hot Clips" which is a whole bunch of short previews for various games.
I'm still pretty dumbfounded that I walked into Target and came out with a game, having spent no money. It's awesome.

OK, I'm confused.
First: I live in Canada (grr) so things are wierd.
Second: I called my local EB (when I say local, I mean a while away)... (this is maybe two weeks ago) ...And they said- I could pre order- but ... that today (two weeks ago) was the LAST DAY to do it.
Well, I couldn't get there in time.. so i got.. NOTHIN'
But now people are talking about disks at the store?? Can i pre order NOW to get my bonus disk?

If the store refuses to pre-sell to you, just go to ebgames.com or amazon.com and get the free disc there. . . . WHY ARE PEOPLE BUYING THE FREE BONUS DISC OFF EBAY? They are spending $20-30 just to get this Ocarina/Master Quest game. Why? Don't they know they can get it free with the Wind Waker? I don't understand.

I preordered from Gamestop.com on the first of this month, but my order is on back order, so I'm cancelling the order and going to my local EB tomorrow (just called them and they have plenty of the Master's Quest right now, hopefully they will tomorrow too).
EDIT: Changed my mind; I'm just going to go there tonight. EB doesn't close until 9. =D I'll have to take the bus, but that's ok.

FUKENEH! Bonus disk in CANADA!
just got home with my bonus disk but haven't opened it yet. For all my fellow Canucks I got it at my local Zellers, Walmart tried to tell me it was for the US only. Gotta Go.

I went to EB earlier and they were OUT of the discs! The guy said all 80 of them were gone already, and he said that at some other EB's, they ordered 400 and were out already. I was amazed. That's pretty impressive for my local Electronics Boutique. So I figured if EB is out of them, then Babbages, which is larger, generally cheaper, and more popular, would definitely be out. But lo and behold, they weren't and I got one. The guy that got the game and **free strategy guide (exclusive to Gamestop/Babbages apparently)** he muttered "geez, these zelda discs are going like crazy." I'm guessing that they bought 160 or something. Good stuff. If any game is "savior to the GCN" (not that it really needs one IMO), it's definitely Zelda.

I just got my disk from Software ETC. They gave me a “GameStop Exclusive” guide. The guide is just Prima’s OOT guide from when OOT was released on the N64, except it has a new cover.
As for the actual game: It’s great. All the GCN preview movies are good and replaying OOT is awesome! Thank you Nintendo!

Has anyone pre-ordered from Best Buy? I did, but I'm a little concerned. On my reciept it simply says I paid $15 for OoT/MQ and absolutely nothing about a pre-order of TWW. I asked the floor manager about it and he "thought" I just needed to bring the reciept back in and they would remove $15 from the cost of TWW. If you pre-ordered at Best Buy what did you get back in return?

Who else loves Master Quest? The dungeons are much more challenging and much more fun. Also, does it seem like they made the Master sword shorter? And made Gannondorf's ears bigger?

His ears bigger? Does that give Ganon some sort of advantage in battle?
I hope my Electronics Boutique does run OUT of Zelda Bonus discs. I couldn't get to the store today, because of the snowstorm making roads impassable. Hopefully everyone else stayed home too! Hopefully I can get dug out tomorrow to get to the store before anyone else does.

I'm serious! His ears are twice as big! Either that or is head is smaller. I found out after looking at him when you first pull out the Master Sword.

Heh. Hearing that story above about the guy saying that the game was really popular reminds me of my story today.
I tried Future Shop first, but they didn't have the discs in yet. I put my $20 down anyways, figuring that I had nothing to lose anyways, as I was still guaranteed the disc. I did go next door to Zellers right afterward though, and they had the discs behind the counter and were dishing them out. I put $20 more down for it, and got my disc. When I was leaving, I heard one girl say to the other: "Is this game like the best out there or something?" I was quite proud at that moment in time. Nintendo really did a good job.
However, when I went back to Future Shop to get my money back (in hindsight, I probably could have sold the second copy of Master Quest to some dumb shmuck for more money than I paid, but I hadn't thought of it), The cashier was talking to a customer. The customer was buying a PS2 controller, and saying some stuff about how her kids loved it and stuff (wasn't really paying attention.), then the cashier was talking about her GameCube, saying that she had to buy one for her kids after N64 died. (The customer gave her a funny look), and the cashier said that most people asked her why she didn't get an Xbox or PS2, (my blood started to boil), and she said that the GameCube had games that were more "family oriented", while the Xbox had games that were all rated M. (At this point I felt like going home for my Katana so I could put her out of my misery), but I simply curtly told her I wanted my money back and left. Her head remained on her shoulders for the rest of the day. (A lot of good it does her though).

I haven't played the Master Quest part yet but I'd say his ears are just big. They are pretty big in the regular version when he is facing forward. Also I'd say the Master Sword is the same. It looked a little different to me too but that was because of the higher resolution. Plus one of my personal complaints about the Master Sword in Ocarina has always been that they made it too short and too wide. Besides they weren't supposed to have made any graphical changes to this game anyway.

Getting my bonus disc was one of the easiest things I have ever done. I walk into Circuit City at like 1:30 PM, go to the video game section and there are like 15 of the bonus discs on display,I grab one and a memory card. EASIEST THING I HAVE EVER DONE. The guy at the cash register was really funny though. But I have to say, the framerate at the beginning is HORRIBLE! It was highly noticeable at the beginning of the game and I maybe I've gotten used to it or it's gotten better but I'm not sure.(On Dodongo's Cavern). IT IS FREE THOUGH...
