Title: Favirote Dungeon in the Zelda Series?
Post by: Oldskool on January 03, 2004, 09:36:23 AM
Tell me which one and why!

Mine was the Spirit Temple in OOT. It had a great boss, great enemies, and the fact that you played it as young and adult Link was cool. Iron Knuckles, 500 year old witches, and a giant sculpture of a woman, it had it all.

I can't just choose one!  My favs are Blind's Dungeon(LttP), the Earth Temple(WW), Forest Temple(OoT), and Eagle Tower(LA)

Hmm...I liked
Water Temple(OoT) - The complexity in that temple drove me nuts and you fight shadow link. O ya, lots of BLUE!
Hmm...I can't even think of any more right now...

I'm thinking along the lines of Catfish's Maw or whatever in LA, Fire Temple (OoT), Tower of the Gods (WW). . . I don't remember the names of all of the levels in LttP, I was so young.

Blind's Dungeon(ALTTP) , Snowhead(MM), Spirit Temple(OOT), and finally the Earth Temple(WW). I loved controlling Medli. And controlling the gulls is fun too. I like flying things. Except the flying Nazgul. *shudders*

Bill:  How could you love eagle's tower?!  That is like my LEAST favorite dungeon.  To this day I still can't figure out the column puzzle thing (knock down the cloumns with the orbs).  GAH!

As for my favorites:  All the adult link temples in OoT except for the water temple.  That's pretty much it.  I can't choose from the ones in WW because for some reason I don't remember tham as well, and I can't replay them because my disk broke ;__;.  WW was going to be one of the only games that I was going to finish twice, and I hadn't even beaten Dragon's Roost Cavern when it broke.

Although I do really like the Forbidden Fortress.

I like ANY puzzle that requires thinking... ^_^

I do and I don't.  Today I was trying to name the seven dwarfs from snow white, and I could only get six.  So I thought and thought and it literally made me fatigued and made my brain hurt.

Maybe I should go back and try it again.  I have a save file in LA that's stuck at that exact point that I haven't touched in about a year. (can you guess why?)  I WILL DEFEAT YOU GIANT PILLAR.

Thinking and me don't get a long very well. Some say thinking is my worse enemy. *screws up brain in concentration* Oww. I'm beginning to agree with them.

Are you thinking, or is it an illusion 0_o

Remember, reality is just an illusion created by an alcohol deficiency.

Ice Dungeon.....

Perhaps Shadow, if only for the ambience.

I guess my favourite would be the Spirit Temple in Ocarina of Time because the battles with the Ironknuckles were such a rush.

I find I only really remember the details for two types of dungeons for each game (neither of which are usually my favourite): the first dungeon and the hardest dungeon.  The first dungeon because it's at that point that everything in the game is still fresh and that "I'm playing a new Zelda game!" feeling is still with you.  Plus if I ever go back and play a Zelda game again the first dungeon is usually the only one I beat before I decide to do something else.

The hardest dungeon of course I always remember because often it's a huge pain in the ass to get through.  Eagle's Tower is by far the king in this category.  Other ones I found really hard include the Shadow Temple (I HATE invisible stuff and using the hover boots), Stone Towers (that's the upside down one, correct?) and probably the easiest dungeon to get lost in, Skull Woods.

In terms of worst game for dungeons I would go with the first game because all of the dungeons for the most part look the same and are pretty uninteresting.  Wind Waker has by far the most boring 3D dungeons though.  The best game for dungeons would be Majora's Mask.  Even though it had only four dungeons the dungeons it had were all huge, complex, and pretty hard.  There were no short easy dungeons that could be beat in ten minutes in that one.  A Link to the Past has the best 2D dungeons.

That's me in OoT.  As much as I love the game, I get past  the Deku Tree and just kind of lose my interest.  Then I aimlessly wander away looking dazed and confused and stumble up the stairs into my room where I proceed to attempt to shut off the wrong alarm clock.  True story.

Actually, the Shadow Temple was one of my favorites in OoT.  I also love the Shadow and Forest Temple.  Thos are perhaps my three favoite in a Zelda game.  I just  find 2D dungeons less interesting.  Not that I don't enjoy them.  In fact right now I am in the middle of A link to the past on the SNES  and loving it (WAY better than on the GBA.  That one sucked in comparison to this.  Same game, but playing the original is just way better.)  I guess it was because I first got into gaming with the N64 so I was used to 3D.  Yeah,

I think that the WW dungeons were the best dungeons Visually but in terms of gameplay they were too linear.

I'd say that most Zelda dungeons are very linear, WW no more or no less than any other games.

My favorite dungeons are from WW and MM. . . the puzzles seemed so much more innovative.  OoT had some awesome stuff, too, of course, but stuff like the two person co-op in the Wind and Earth temples were much more interesting than most things in OoT.  And Stone Tower in MM was very cool.

I dunno, maybe I'm just older and wiser, but the puzzles in WW seemed so bloody easy!

I like it if you have several directions that you could choose. In WW I felt like half the time you were guided through on rails.

Plus I didnt like the 1st dungeon of MM. It was really short!

Sadly I don't remember many dungeon names but my favs are:
Water Temple (OoT) loved how I lost all my hair and the fight with dark link.  Complexity of mixing sinking and floating with the iron boots was awesome.

Ice Temple w/ Goron Link (MM) Forgive my horrible memory.  After blasting through the first temple, this one gave me new respect for MM.  I hate to FALL.

Spirit Temple (OoT)  loved the boss fight and how you had to go back in time to beat it.  Mirror Shield = item better than anyting Din, Nayru, or Farore could ever give you.  (Ignoring it in SC2)

Temple where you got Roc's feather (OoA) I thought white men in green clothes can't jump? Jumping added a whole new dimension to Zelda for me, and I was really hoping they were going to put Roc's feather/cape in WW.

Stone Tower  (MM) the climb up was awesome.  Fliping the dungeon was incredible.

Temple where you get that switchy thingy (LttP)

Temple where the boss is a segmented blob thing that knocks you down the dungeon (LttP)
Sorry about the indefinite names sounds like I gots ta play LttP again.

Switchy thingy?  I'm guessing you mean the hookshot...If so, you got it in the Swamp Palace(dungeon 2 in the Dark World)

Temple where the boss is a segmented blob thing that knocks you down the dungeon (LttP)
That's a Moldorm...Dungeon: Tower of Hera

*Cowers as Bill shoves Dungeon names down my throat*  I thought the switchy thing was something different because it switched your place with pots but obviously judging by my dungeon descriptions *cowers again*, it's been awhile for me.  Maybe I should pick up Lttp for GBA...

I feel like such a Zelda wannabe right now...

Oh, the switch hook is in Oracle of Ages(4th dungeon), not LttP...

Spirit Temple of OoT at the top with a bullet. The ambience in there is unique, it gives it an Arabian touch, like you're inside a pharao's tomb or something... And of course you get to go there in both timelines, that rocks!

Second is Stone Towers from MM. REALLY big dungeon, and the timelimit of 72 hours (or minutes) isn't really helping. The Boss of this dungeon has een done very nice, I'd been wondering how the sandworms would look in 3d ever since I fought the 3 worms in AlttP, in the second dungeon.

Third would be the Earth Temple in WW. Way better use of mirrors than in the n64 games, and of course you get to control Medli, I love that girl...

Well, I'm in turtle rock in alttp, and all teh pipes confuse me. =P  I don't usually make it to the end of a pipe before shutting it off though.  That dungeon frustrates me only second to Eagle's Tower. >_<

But...........as much as I LOVE exploring, I always have a tendancy to DO things too organized and it overwhelms me.  For example, in turtle rock (alttp), I always feel as if I have to go through one pipe, explore until I come to a fork, adn then go explore another path, so I don't forget where I've been or where to go  I want to explore everything at once..  Doing this throughout a whole dungeon gets pretty frusterating.  It's a major problem that I have,

I hate eagle's tower! THat ball thing is so annoying. On two games I managed to get the ball stuck in exactly the same place, on a wall with the only place i could pick it up being a pit. Sodding puzzles!

Did anybody else get that problem? There was a spot in the room with the top-left pillar where if you threw the ball it would get stuck. it really did by nut because it is right near the end of the game, so it would take ages to get there from the beginning.

My favorite in the last dungeon in ALttP.  Its a damn tower of a dungeon!  Not an easy finale.
