Title: Questions about Progressive Scan

Question #1: Hey, I have an S video cable and an S video compatible high-definition TV. Is this enough to use progressive scan? The connectors on my cable have a red, white, and yellow plug and then an S-Video plug. Is that ok, or do I need one like this: http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/nintendogamecube/hook_component.jsp
Question 2#: I THINK I know the answer to question one, which is that S-Video and Component cables BOTH improve the games' graphics, but if you use progressive scan, it can look even better- my question is, HOW MUCH better do the games look? Because as it is I see a huge difference with my S-Video cables and the standard analog.

I dont believe you can get progressive scan with s-video. Im not sure though. I think component cables make it look exceptionally better.
I have a question also. can you get proscan with a tv tuner card?

You NEED component cables for prog. scan. But your TV won't support prog. scan. You will notice a big difference between S-video and component video, however, I find the step up from component video to progressive scan less amazing (it is an improvement - just a small one)

So you are saying : Difference between component cables and regular analog= great difference. Difference between component cables (prog scan not activated) and Component cable (prog scan activated)= not so great.
But you say that component cable looks alot better than S-video? Because in other posts in this forum I have heard people say that A) There is no noticeable difference between s video and component cables, and B) Some people said they thought the Svideo looked BETTEr, complained that with component cables the colers looked darker etc.
So are you SURE it is a huge difference between component cables and Svideo? Cause the S-Video is already such a huge leap from regualr analog input.
Last question, whwat makes my tv NOT progressive scan compatible, even if I have a component cable imput?

Here is a quote I read in an article
"By utilizing a component video format, GameCube becomes instantly compatible with many of today's high definition television sets. It should be noted that the component video is only regarded as a slight improvement over normal S-video transmissions. However, as mentioned before, the component video input will be responsible for enabling progressive scan --"

There's a significant difference between RF/composite and S-video, and a small improvement with component over S-video. Though your TV doesn't seem to have any S-video inputs, so the $30 for the component cable would be worth it.
