Title: Double Dragon Advance & Fro-bobo discussion thread
Post by: S-U-P-E-R on November 16, 2003, 07:48:31 PM
This is a rad game, TONS of moves, challenging (although not quite as much as the original, but still tough) and well, I wouldn't even call it a DD1 remake. This is pretty much an entirely new game with elements of all of the old DD games. There's a hot, remixed soundtrack that I'm going to do a little sampling & posting of shortly.

Also Abobo appears with an afro on occasion.

Yeah, it doesn't take too long to beat. I'm gonna try hard right now, though

Boy am I sucking at this game... I couldn't even beat easy mode. I keep falling off the ledges by accident. No big deal though since you can kick a boss off the ledge too scoring an instant kill.

Yeah, I got OWNED until I got the movelist and figured out how do headbutt air juggle:

Quote

OLD MOVES:
KICK (when close) - Grab head. Then press Kick to knee them, or Punch to throw.
JUMP+PUNCH - Elbow.
JUMP+KICK - Reverse jump kick.
JUMP, KICK - Normal jumping kick.
FORWARD+PUNCH+KICK - Headbutt. (Used to be just Forward,Forward in DD1).
JUMP (when caught in a full nelson) - Break hold.

NEW MOVES:
L-BUTTON - Block. Also used to drop your weapon, which is useful if you want to pick up a different one.
FORWARD, FORWARD - Run. Then press Punch to clothesline, Kick to do a sliding kick, or Punch+Kick for a leaping kick. You can also jump while running, and perform any jumping attack.
PUNCH+KICK - Crouch. Avoids some attacks. While crouching, press Punch to uppercut, or Kick to knee (very effective attacks).
DOWN+KICK - Low kick. Use to kick barrels.
DOWN+KICK (on top of downed enemy) - Mount enemy.  Press Punch rapidly to hit them in the face.
PUNCH+KICK (on top of downed enemy) - Stomp. Reminds me of Virtua Fighter stomping.
JUMP, DOWN+KICK - Diving Kick. Looks just like Akuma's.
JUMP, PUNCH+KICK - Spinning kick. They had this in DD2, but it acted a bit differently, and had a different command. So it's basically changed enough that it's a new move now.

You can also throw bats/axes with A+B and pick them up again if they hit a wall. Very helpful on the last battle.

Oooooh! Hey thanks for the move list. I knew a few of the new move but didn't know there were so many new ones. This should make it easier with all the new moves.

gather all the enemies next to wall, that way is easier to beat all of em together
my fav weapon: doublesticks n the other long doublesticks (i dunno the name) triplesticks?
