Title: ORIGINAL GAMEBOY NEEDED
Post by: MadMother on November 08, 2003, 01:52:36 AM
Does anyone know where I might be able to get a 1991 Gameboy? It must be new or as new.

Might still be pirated ones floating around the net that are like new.  But other than that, it would be hard.

Finding a system that is a dozen years old that is brand new will be near impossible, and even if you do find one, prepare to drop your life savings...

I have one, but the screewn is slowly degrading on the sides.  So like on Zelda Link's Awakening, it kinda cuts out the doors.  But it does have a contrast control!!!  Plus it is awesome.  But it is large, and is a battery killer.(if you play alot )

I don't know why you need one, but just get a new GBC, since they are cheap in the US(as opposed to Canada).

is the original gameboy really that hard to find in good condition?  mine's still in really good shape.  buttons work perfectly, screen is as good as it was when i got it in 1992 (or thereabouts), it never has a problem reading cartridges.

my only question would be, why would someone want to get the original gameboy?  you can get a new gameboy color for as little as $50, and you can get the gba for between $70 and $100 (depending on model).  i didn't see much market for the original, unless it was for a collector or a drawf.

I'm pretty sure I have a near mint original GB somewhere.  It's not too hard to believe considering I didn't use it much and the fact that I'm a bit of a neat freak, taking care of it just a little too well
Sorry though I don't plan on parting with it.

I am intrigued as to why someone would want an old one so bad.

For the same reason I won't part with my original GB, nostalgia &/or collectableness.
