Title: Square and Nintendo
Post by: LinkMaster3000 on November 03, 2003, 08:52:51 AM
Hey does anyone know how succesful Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles was in Japan.  Also  when does the game come out in the United states?  I can't wait to get it.

I think it's sold a quarter million in Japan, and it will be out in February next year in the U.S...

I can't wait for this game. Granted I want TOS more than it but I really want this one too. I hope we get more FF games. New or old, I don't care.

You better want ToS more...

I'm still not sure if I'm going to buy FF:CC. I don't know anyone that would play multiplayer with me, so I will have to see how the single-player is.

And lately I've been wanting Baten Kaitos more than ToS.

Molobert, you should not have said that. Look at Bill's last comment. All I'm gonna say is I hope you can run. Fast.

FF:  CC is kinda a turn off for me.  i dont really like to play hack and slash type of game and worst of all, you need a GBA to play a multiplayer.  i rather want to play the numbers FF but since we are not getting those, im really looking forward to TALES OF SYMPHONIA and BATEN KAITOS for my RPG fix.

No.    I want Baten Kaitos a million times more than Tales of Symphonia.

I really want it 'cause it's supposed to multi–player rock. As of right now I have only SSBM and SC2, fighting games both. I would like some variety in the multiplayer category. That's why I'm getting this and MK: DD (Watch out when you abbrev. MK. You have to space betweek "MK:" and "DD" or else you'll get MKD and EVERYONE will think you are weird.)

We'll see when Baten Kaitos comes out, and you see the true genius of it.

Baten Kaitos looks mighty strange, but how is Tales of Symphonia strange?  It's a lot like its predecessors.

Anyways, I assure you that I will long since have Tales of Symphonia beaten before I start on Baten Kaitos.

Haha, it's really funny seeing the PC stuck in there among all the GCN's on your top 10 list, ninja.

You missed the NES game in there too did ya?

But yeah, I don't like PC games all that much for the most part.

EDIT:  nvm, I just realized you said top 10.

I meant just in your top 11- only one PC game, and that's a port of a PS2 game. I used to enjoy PC games a lot, but I've had some pretty crappy computers lately that couldn't play many games, so I naturally shifted to consoles.

Most of the games I want most won't see the light of day over here for a long time...

Though 4 of my top 5 will be here within the next 5-6 months...

Well, I am more than capable of playing just about any game on my PC.  Halo runs great on my PC, but the game still sucks, and it still looks like ass IMO.

The problem is that although I have a fondness for RTS games, and Sim games, I really have distaste for FPS games, and I am not really interested in playing rehashes of RTS and Sim games that I played years ago.  PC games just don't innovate.  That's why I prefer my console games.

I still like to keep my computer up to date though, as I am a programmer, and my computer is about the only valuable thing I own.  I am actually planning on doing a complete upgrade of my PC this winter though, involving a new case, new motherboard, new CPU, removal of most fans, addition of cathode lights, watercooling, and EL Wire, and 1GB of memory, and replacing my POS monitor with a nice LCD one.  I was also thinking of replacing my aging video card with something like a Radeon 9600 Pro, or replacing my hard drive with a nice serial ATA model.  Oh yeah... not a bad way of spending three grand if you ask me.

Got a Radeon 9600 Pro right here. My computer, despite its problem, runs games for a while before they screw up, forcing me to reinstall (although Command and Conquer Generals has been working perfectly for 3 or 4 days now). I do definitely see your point about PC games generally not innovating, but there's still quite a few I like, namely Roller Coaster Tycoon and Age of Empires.

Even though FFCC is designed for multiplayer, the single player isn't bad at all.  I've been enjoying even playing it in Japanese.  The battles are simple, but it's fun, and the game is gorgeous on all levels.

How's the computer AI for your party members? I know Gabe sade that the guy carrying the crystal wasvery good, but what about the others?

I think the guy carrying the crystal is your only friend in single player.

But Mouse, how are you liking that Radeon 9600 Pro, other than not being able to use it much?

It's magnificent! I love it! All my games look wonderful, run blazingly fast, and I love ATI's very helpful control panel. Of course, you have to realise this is the first true graphics card I've really ever had- before it's just been onboard integrated video cards.

Ah, I see.  I currently am running a GeForce3 Ti200, and I was just debating if it was REALLY worth it, given that I am not a PC Gamer really.  I already talked myself out of this, so I am aiming at something a little more reasonable anyways.

I think your GeForce 3 should suit your purpouses just fine, especially considering you'll probably be primarily playing Silent Hill 3 on it, which I imagine is not a very taxing game. You could upgrade if you want, but it'll cost a pretty penny- my 9600 Pro was almost twice as expensive as any other single part in my PC.
Title: RE: Square and Nintendo
Post by: Grey Ninja on November 03, 2003, 05:19:43 PM
Well, the way I'm currently figuring it, my new CPU will be about 3 times as expensive as my video card for once, so I think I got that covered.    The main thing is that I have had this video card for over a year now, and by my figurings, it's about time I changed her out.  Besides, the fan on it died a few months back, and I never did get around to replacing it.

But my main reason is that I recently built my mother a new computer, but I couldn't afford to buy a new video card, so I left the integrated graphics activated.  If I bought a new card, I could give her my old one.  She actually plays more PC games than I do, and I think that the card would pretty much double her power, and make things just "look" a lot better.

I just hope Nintendo has some sense and puts LAN play in the game so that a game can be played over XLink and voice communcation could allow for a lot of replay

I'm looking forward to all 3 of those RPGs... finally, some good exclusive RPGs!  I want a more traditional style FF though too!
