Title: F-Zero GX/AX General Help

We got GX here in Oz just last Friday, and it is a kick ass game! We've had AX here in Sydney for the last couple of months or so, but according to Mario, it's gone -_______-
Anyway, I'm doing Story Mode, and Chapter 7 is pissing me off right now. Much like Expert mode, the racers do quite a lot of speeding even without the need to boost - when I boost, it seems as though the other racers got a boost too.
So are there any tips for Chapter 7? What ratio should i set the acceleration/max speed balance graph? How the hell can I pass racers without them boosting past me seconds later?
Some of the other guys need help for Chapter 3, so anything for that would be cool also.
