Title: Is there an RF switch specifically for gc?
Post by: Luciferschild on October 25, 2003, 10:29:46 AM
I'm using the one from my n64 and there seems to be a lot of lines going across the screen. Oddly, I didn't notice it until recently after I bought a new cube but I don't see how that could affect the screen. Anybody know about this?

nope, your n64 RF cable is compatble with your cube, ofcourse they do sell a gamcube RF unit, but its exactly the same, it even says so on the box

If you are using an RF switch, then it's not like you can expect perfect visuals.  Lines are to be expected.  Try changing the channel it uses though, and that might clean it up a bit.

What's the best way to get a clear picture, going through the tv I would imagine? I tried it with my vcr and the picture was pretty crummy, I think it's because the vcr is really old. I don't have the plug ins on my tv so maybe I need to get a new one.

Yep.  Going through the VCR is essentially a cheap RF switch.  If you want clean picture, you should definately be plugging your RCA cables directly into your TV (or into your VCR, then plug your VCR into the TV with its own RCA plugs).  At any rate RCA -> RF Modulation == Not Good.
