Title: GCN is still in 2nd worldwide, right?
Post by: Arbok on October 24, 2003, 04:46:20 PM: Ok, someone is bugging me by telling me that the GCN is no longer in 2nd place worldwide, and Xbox has taken that title. I think the person just is confusing the US with the worldwide figures...

Anyway, is the GCN still 2nd worldwide, and if so does anyone have a link that states so?

Post by: Bloodworth on October 24, 2003, 04:53:55 PM: Look, right now they're about equal, and that's all that really matters. Different promotions and big games shift the two constantly. Right now with the GC price drop, I'd guess that Nintendo's in the lead since sales have jumped worldwide, and Nintendo was claiming second place back at E3 as well.

And ever since the $99 price drop took effect, we have been seeling even more. Even our Ps2 sales have taken a dive. A serious dive. we have not sold a ps2 in almost a month.

Let me just say this, the company I work for is not the place one would usually buy a game system, where more of a "music and more" chain. It makes me wonder how places like EB and TRU are doing with their GC sales. Several of the TRU's near my home were sold out of GC's for about a week after the price drop.

However, I'll look for whatever numbers I can find, why don't you do the same BW?

But yeah, GC is 2nd worldwide. and yet that may not matter as the gap in the U.S. is closing and GC could overtake X-box by Christmas.

It will be intresting how much M$ will be losing total by the end of xbox's life cycle? let alone Xbox next

I used to think they did, but at the end of the day, as long as you're having fun with your console, who cares whether the Xbox or the GameCube is second? No-one knows the answer for sure anyway, and the difference is so small that it's unimportant.

Either way, the GameCube is still a great console.

Between the NES, SNES, N64, GB, GBA, GB SP, and GCN...nintendo has sony beat. Sony only has ps1 and ps2, how can they compete. Nintendo holds the gaming crown, they are the true #1!

Oh please, you're telling us that GameCube Land had the numbers before the BBC? I doubt that. In any case it's all pointless since the numbers are 3 months old.

It's still selling 7x more than it was before the price cut (begs the question how bad was it selling...) but the new Halo + MM3 + Live XBox bundle has overtaken it. Going to be an interesting Christmas.
