Title: Disappointed......New to GC
Post by: Chef on October 18, 2003, 01:01:20 AM
hey everyone, i just got a gamecube about a week ago.. ive been playing starfox from time to time.. well yesterday I had alot of time, So i figured i would try and gain some ground on starfox, I beat the game whole game in about 5 hours. About a total of 2 days game play I assume it would add upto.. that really disappointed me!
anyway.. Im picking up viewtiful joe and wind waker towmorrow.. is there any other challenging games anyone can reccommend I pick up?
thats it.. hopefully I can find a harder game, ocarina of time took me almost 2 months to beat.. so maybe wind waker will be what im looking for.
Drew

Metroid Prime, Super Mario Sunshine and F-Zero GX are all quality games that have a high difficulty. Wind Waker is a bit on the easy side, but I've heard Viewtiful Joe is good challange aswell

Star Fox Adventures disappointed everyone.
the 4 games that Ocarina mentioned are all quite challenging though. I should also mention Ikuraga. But if you are looking for a good old fashioned play-level-3000-times to get it right game, look no further than F-Zero GX. I just can't seem to make any progress at all in that game.

I have to agree with Grey Fox. I never even finished Star Fox Adventures, I got so bored of the large, usually baren, levels with enemies that comprised no more skill than just jamming the button with no fear of being hit. The graphics were good... but it's a game I am sorry I bought. Anyway, my personal recommendation list:
Super Smash Bros. Melee (GET THIS! My sole reason for owning a Cube, got it the day it released, and still play it) Time Splitters 2 (if you don't own on another system) Metroid Prime Soul Caliber II (if you don't own on another system) Roque Leader (or might just hold out for the third) Skies of Arcadia Legends (if you don't own on another system) Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker
There are tons of great games for the cube, but out of the 30 I own (yeah, even number) these are the cream of the crop IMO.

Star Fox was awy longer than 5 hours, and is a really good game once you get past its Zelda for retards(j/k) and that the combat blows
Try Melee I put close to 400 hours in that game

SSBM is a AWESOME game, it has alot of replay value and is very good if you have friends to play it with. Metroid prime is also hard, it has abunch of secrets. And items you wouldn't even imagine finding. F-Zero GX is a fun racing game for people that don't like racing games, and it's ubur-hard. And I heard that PSO is a fun game, and challenging. (I am getting that game soon, probably).

A great and challenging game is Eternal Darkness. I can't believe nobody suggested this yet, I would go as far as saying it's the one of the best games on the gamecube if not the best. You can also get this game for cheap, I bought it for about $10 a year ago. It was worth every cent.

Well, ED being challenging is debatable. I guess it depends on your skill level.

Regardless of the challenge, ED is still a must own. It's one of the best games , this generation for sure.

I didn't fine myself entertained by ED much at all. I don't like survival horror games. But yes, Metroid Prime, Time Splitters 2, SMS, Super Monkey Ball, SSBM, Viewtiful Joe are all good games and offer some degree of difficulty.

I must really suck at video games then becuase I found Eternal Darkness pretty difficult. No matter what it is worth it to buy solely becuase it's a great game.

Metroid Prime, Mario Sunshine, F-Zero (very hard), Wind Waker, SSBM, Super Monkey Ball, Sonic Mega Collection, and Luigi's Mansion are all worth getting. And those are only the games I've played extensively/beat. I'm going to get Kirby Air Ride later tonight, hopefully, so I'll let you know about it.
