Title: KILL BILL
Post by: Moonwatcher on October 12, 2003, 04:11:05 PM
I've seen this twice since release and I love it! I have a feeling that this is a love it or hate it movie. Both audiences I've seen it with loved it for the most part with a few people who just did not get it. Kinda scary to see dozens of people luaghing wildly at the sight of a man sliced in two though... wow.

Kill Bill comes out here in Oz on Thursday, so I'll be here posting my impression of Volume 1 soon! I absolutely love the old-style kung fu directing and music in the teaser trailer. My friend is a Tarantino nut. So I'll see it with him.

I wanna see this so bad. I hope it's in theaters after nov 12. I will be 17 and not have to lie/cheat/implement illusory tactics to get into the movie. If it isn't in theaters, I know of a place that shows movies after they take them out so I guess I'm ok.

what joke?
over here, you have to be 18 or over, cause it's rated R18+. Lucky me They won't let you in even if you have a parent/guardian. Thankfully. I saw a family with two kids around 10 watching Bad Boys 2, and that's MA15+ here - one step down from R.

Tarantino did not make From Dusk Til' Dawn. He was in it, he may have co-wrote it, but he did not direct it. Robert Rodriguez, the guy who made the Spy Kids movies made it. I kid you not. Sorry. QT's other movies are Resevoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown. Kill Bill, Vol. 1 at least, is as good if not better than Pulp Fiction though nothing like it. I am so angry that this movie has been split in two.

From Dusk Til' Dawn was a kick ass movie although it sequals were somewhat weak. I mean a dick gun that shoots off? Holy water condom genades, vampire strippers in Mexico? If that didn't make a movie experince I don't know what does.

Quote no way. the last movie i saw that by that dude was from dusk til dawn which was possibly the worst movie made in my life time.
It was written in tandem with Rodriguez, who directed. I dont thinik you got what they were going for, because to me it was a great campy and satirical movie with great dialogue and continued to pay homage to the cult horror classics like Evil Dead 1 and 2 (which was one of the main focuses). If you take it for what it is, its brilliant.
Just as Kill Bill is Tarantino giving his due to what he grew up watching, sonny cheeba, and and movies of that genre. I loved it, and can't wait for volume 2.

well the movie was horrible(dusk til dawn), but maybe i will think of giving kill bill a chance. pulp fiction was no doubt a great movie. i havent seen any of his other movies though. and once apon a time in mexico was ok. the best part was the hot chicks and johnny d. that fool is hilarious. o yea and the only good thing about from dusk til dawn was salma hyack.

The first thing I thought when I heard the title of the movie was "Yeah, kill Bill Gates!". I guess that just proves how much I hate Microsoft...
I don't know when that movie came out/will come out here, if it comes at all. With that amount of graphic violence it'll probably be indexed ("youth endangering", i.e. rated 18+, advertising forbidden) or maybe even declared violence glorifying (and thereby made illegal), though the latter is VERY improbable.

Well, it's something that only us Nintendo folk can do, let alone appreciate. But imagine the possibilities! Has anyone seen the Kill Bill teaser trailer? If not: http://www.jurassicpunk.com/movies/killbill.shtml
anyway, to put a Nintendo twist on this really stylish trailer,
"In the year...... [cue footage] 2003..... [cue footage]
Link (or insert your fave Nintendo character) will [cue footage]
KILL BILL (Gates)."
hahaha. If anyone can whip up a movie montage of spliced footage, or even make an animation (CG or traditional 2D), that would be the coolest thing ever! Hey! How bout a Flash animation!
Hey Perm! Get you ass in here now!
Also, the music from the trailer is on the soundtrack. Track 9 - "Battle without honour or humanity" by some Japanese guy called Hotei. Track runs for 2min 31sec.
I would do it, but i have no experience in any form of animation. Though the idea is spinning wildly in my head.

Man, this was a really cool movie.
And if there's anyone here that loves Japanese stuff, then I suggest you go to see the very hot Chiaki Kuriyama, who plays ultra-cute Japanese schoolgirl Go-Go Yubari. Now she is a bit a a psycho, and you can really see it, but my GOD! You just can't help but drool at that innocent look in her eyes and they way she erotically swings that chain ball/saw/mace-thing with such ease. Hahaha. I guess it's the short skirt, the white, knee-high stockings, the cute face, and those hypnotic eyes. Here's the three pics of her off the Kill Bill website. *Droooool* Pic 1 Pic 2 Pic 3
This isn't my fave movie of all time, as blood-splatter-spray-fests aren't my thing, but for those of you old enough to see it, see it.

kill bill is easilly one of tarrantino's best flicks- up there with pulp fiction and resivoir dogs i love the movie- i have seen it twice and i plan to see it again- the movie is great and it is very very funny- i found myself laughing out loud during the movie many times
"though Robert Rodriguez does make some good movies....other then spy kids. I still wanna see Once Upon a Time in Mexico"
rodriguez's best flicks were definately the el mariache trilogy- el mariache is a great flick- i would suggest it to everyone but be warned it is all in spanish- and my personal favorite of his is desperado- that movie is so good- and tarrantino is in that movie too! once upon a time in mexico is very good too- though not as good as desperado it is very enjoyable and fun to watch- but those movies by rodriguez are very good and i suggest them to all

I can't believe that I never got around to seeing Once Upon a Time in Mexico as I loved the first two movies. Oh well, I'll get to it eventually.
Has anybody else bought the soundtrack to KB yet? I really cannot understand any person who hasn't. Al Hirt and Nancy Sinatra on one CD!!! Even if Kill Bill was a crap movie in every other respect, I'd love it simply for the music. Unfortunately, one of the coolest songs in the whole movie isn't on the soundtrack. I have no idea who it is by or what it is called but it plays when the Bride is calling O-Ren out to fight. Hopefully it will be on the soundtrack for Volume 2.

It's not animated. There were bits of anime created to explain the story. In Volume 1, the anime was used to tell the back story of Lucy Liu's character. And like the rest of the movie, it's quite bloody.
I don't know what will be animated in Vol 2, let alone the whole movie. There were some bits in the trailer that were not in Vol 1, so this would mean there would be live action.

I went into Kill Bill with no expectations at all and I knew nothing about it except it was supposed to be a really good movie. I was blown away and I must say that it was the best movie I have ever seen. WIth all the sequels theres finnally a good original movie. Also I thought the fighting was even cooler than the matrix and it tops my must see list even instead of matrix revolutions and return of the king. Do yourself a favor and don't miss out on this movie. O and by the way this is by far the most bloodiest movies I have ever seen.

I know her left arm was cut off, but remember when Black Mamba was talking to the french woman on the trunk of a car near the end of the film, she said that she would cut from her body something if she didn't answer her questions. Now the impression that I got from that scene and the scene showing only a close-up of the french chick was that the blonde actually did something. But maybe I'm just overthinking.

oh that bit. nah i would have though that Sophia (French woman's name ) would have been to scared to lose anything, and so told the Bride all she needed to know. And when she was rolled down to the hospital, she looked fine didn't she?
I dunno. Guess we won't know anything more about it until Vol 2, unless she;s not even in it, since when you DO see her afterward, you only see her head and Bill's hands running along her shoulders.
Title: RE: KILL BILL
Post by: Caliban on October 19, 2003, 04:52:56 AM
I just rechecked some scenes in my mind and I came to the conclusion that afterall like you said she had only lost her left arm. This is what I remembered: Black Mamba closing the trunk(in this scene all that was missing was Sophia's left arm) and the scene that follows is Sophia being thrown down the hill. So I think that ansers it. I actually thought that Black Mamba had cut off Sophia's breasts(LOL).

You're so nice, Bloodworth.
It's the little stuff that counts, sometimes. . . there were some great details in that movie. I like how the name of the cereal in the beginning was something along the lines of "Ka-bang". . . clever. Awesome details like that are part of the reason I like Nintendo so much, too.
Title: RE: KILL BILL
Post by: Grey Ninja on November 12, 2003, 03:13:21 PM
The thing that really got to me about this movie is how much it felt like a live action anime, along the lines of Rurouni Kenshin. It had to be the most bloody and gory movie I have ever seen. I mean, the amount of blood, severed body parts, and general atrocities would normally shock a 80 year old hooker. But the really amazing thing is that it wasn't there for gratuitous violence. It was done in an artistic way, and didn't cheapen the movie at all.
The soundtrack was also simply awesome... I have been looking for music of that quality for a good deal of time. It was very Japanese in flavor, but it had the traditional Tarantino flare to it. I might actually buy the CD for it when I go out tomorrow. That would make it my 3rd CD purchase in my entire life.
The acting was simply perfect. Lucy Liu was a big motivation to see the movie, but she surprisingly got overshadowed by Uma Thurman. You know... I never ever dreamed that a white girl could speak Japanese so well, and handle a katana just as well. She certainly DID NOT disgrace the sword at all.
I mean, this movie was simply perfection. It's definately #2 in my most loved movies of all time. Is it #1? I don't really know... #1 has always been a reserved spot, but I am seriously weakened by this movie....
