Title: Gamecube is now cheaper than GBA SP
Post by: ActorJ on October 02, 2003, 10:55:04 AM: So the Gamecube is now selling for ten canadian dollars less than the GBA SP is.

How bizzarre.

While I suppose I understand, and therefore suport Nintendo's decision to cut the price down to next to nothing, I can't help but think that what will be good for Nintendo in the short term, coiuld hurt them even more in the long term. If the Gamecube was percieved as a toy before, it surely is seent aht way even more now. You and I know differently, like we always have, but the general public are morons, and they just won't get it.

I think Nintendo, buy appearing to the public to have lost faith in it's product thanks to this latest price cut, will have it work cut out for them next gen, as if they didn't already.

Oh ya, and you guys are forgetting that Nintendo still needs to clear out there warehouses. They stop production remember? So I see this, not as a great business move, but as an act of desperation. I could be wrong though. I don't know why people hate the cube or think its a toy. I play it more than any other system.

Post by: PIAC on October 05, 2003, 07:17:18 PM: its both don'thate, its the lead upto the holiday season globally, most people who want one have a ps2, and if they are in the market for another system its either an xbawx or gcn, and now gcn is so very cheep, why not pick one up? once the backlog is cleared out they are keeping the system at this price.

If they drop the SP price, it'll sell even better during the holiday season....possibly....well I'll get one. Anyways, I've got a GBA; that'll have to do for now.
