Title: Mega Man Anniversary Collection Question
Post by: Solid[Snake] on September 27, 2003, 07:06:57 AM
Hi all-

Does anyone know whether Mega Man 1-6 on the MM Aniversary Collection will be the original versions from the NES or the versions from the PSX re-released in Japan only (These versions had updated graphics/music)?

I don't think there has been any official word on that so I doubt anyone here can answer that.

From what I understand, they're the NES games, but the music is even more updated than the PSone releases got. God I hope they give you the choice of keeping the original tunes.

I hope they stick with the classic tunes. I want the NES MM 1 - 8 but i dont mind a Graphics make over unless the cosmetic change gets out of hand. I guess Capcom likes making megaman for Cube and Ps2 since both systems are getting a Megaman RPG in Japan

I would prefer to have the originals from the NES.  Memories, sweet sweet memories.  My first megaman was megaman 2, and I was hooked ever since.  I hated megaman legends though, but I do like the new MegaMan Transmission for Cube.

I could have sworn they said they were going with the original look, but I think we may be out of luck on the music end Infernal.  They said that the soundtrack would be updated, most likely meaning that they are going with the PS music...meh

They're gonna probably be exactly like the re-releases of 1 through 6 on the PSX were.  There was an original and an arranged mode where the graphics were changed a little and the soundtrack was remixed.  Don't worry, you'll be getting your originals.  However, I've got the chance to hear a few of the remixes and to me they're more than welcome.

Oh yeah, and for Megaman 8, here's hoping they use the superior Saturn port for it instead of the PSX one.

Considering Mega Man 1-6 could all fit on a 1.44mb floppy, there'd be no problem with including the originals.

What's the point in changing the music but keeping the graphics?  Seems to me you might as well redo both or none at all.  As it is now nostalgia buffs will complain that the music is changed while new fans will complain that the graphics aren't up to snuff.  It's like a decision specially crafted to piss off everyone.

I don't mind new music as long as it's the same but with better quality.  I don't want the whomp-ass Top Man music to be completely changed but it could sound great with better sound quality.  So basically redone music = great, remixed music = crap.
