How... Odd. Seriously, the Sonic games have never done too well on PC. Oh well, PC only gamers get their first platform game in years.

PC Gamers have played platformers? O_o
I am still debating getting the game for GCN. The bugs and framerate in the demo annoyed the hell out of me. But I would really prefer it on my GameCube, as I am sure the PC port will be just as horrible.

Won't the controls (without a pad) be pretty bad?

I have a PSX controller plugged into my PC, since I normally use my PC to play PSX games, or ports of them or PS2 games. Controlling things isn't an issue with me.

Heh, no, that would pretty much fix the controls problem.

Mouse controls camera, AWSD controls movement, where's the problem?

well I suppose that you could put your jumping on the left mouse button, and some of the other stuff could be mapped to nearby keys or the right mouse button.
(Think about it KDR. )

Left mouse button? Uh, there's a spacebar on the keyboard that is often used for jumping. I think that's also the control layout Zanzarah used (granted, it's an RPG, not a platformer) and it worked quite well.

Well, I dunno what was present in the demo, and I also don't know what IGN was smoking when they reviewed the game. The only section I've seen the frame rate take a hit is 'Mystic Ruins'. Flying around the place with Tails, you can really see the frame rate fall to bits.
But there's still a disturbing amount of glitches and bugs that should of been fixed up. Emerald Coast, for example, features a solid bit of ground that leads up to a loop to loop. You can fall right through it. Quite annoying... And I doubt those sort of glitches will be fixed for this upcoming PC port.
Still, I love Sonic DX. It's a massive game, and unlike SA2:B, Knuckles' and Tails' levels are fun..

Infernal, in the demo, the framerate was seriously BAD. Whenever you jumped in the water, the framerate would slow to a crawl, and when just running along... there would often be little hickups, almost as if it couldn't load data from the disc quickly enough (which is right insane. GameCube is VERY good at streaming data from the disc, and should be able to keep up with Sonic)

Hahaha, sounds like the demo did more harm than good. The final game isn't anywhere near that bad.

You know what? Sonic CD is pretty cool. I like the music. And it's big, too. It's good.

Sonic CD's American soundtrack was awesome. I only recently got to hear it, though thanks to Protoman.com. For some reason, Sega had two totally different soundtracks for Sonic CD. One for the Japanese/PAL release, and one for the US release. *ODD ATTACK*

I have to admint, I'm disappointed by SonicDX. I got so annoyed by the controls, I felt like throwing it out of the Window.
Several years back when a Sonic demo in 3D was tried out on PC, I thought it would be hard to control seeing as he's so fast and cool.
And it's just been proved how right I was in this game.
I prefer playing the Sonic character to Mario, but I had a much better gaming experience with Super Mario Sunshine.
Why can't it be as easy to control characters and cameras as with Super Mario sunshine? A one point running with Sonic , you felt as you were ducking, so I'm effectively staring at the ground when running. I cant make out what's ahead of me.
I constantly found myself LOST wondering what I should be doing? In SuperMario, I was gently guided by other characters, without giving the whole game away. It's a great environment to explore. I could not get immersed into the sonic environemt, particularly when it appeared you were harshly treated for failure and rewarded for success was small?
The Sonic world has graphics which can both be really good and really bad! Some of the walls are pretty shoddy in hotels and hill, streets.
Sorry folks, I want a really good Sonic game cos I'm a fan. Maybe Sega should get Nintendo to do a Sonic game, much like what Nintendo did when asking Sega to make F-Zero GX.
I think many kids would lose patience after a couple of hours and end up scurrying to the internet to find the walkthrough. What is the point in that?
Music is great tho, I cant even remember if it changes depending on where and what the character is doing (atmosphere).
Fraid this game gets exchanged for something else. :-(
I don't get off in sending criticism like this, but it is a sure reflection of my frustration. Especially since the first GC game I played - SuperMario Sunshine and was pleasantly surprised at how good it's environment was to navigate, view, and "experiment" with.
One more thing - When it frequently says "Loading....." and "Saving..." that is UNFORGIVABLE in this day and age.
