Title: Final Fantasy Tactics Adavnce
Post by: nitsu niflheim on September 20, 2003, 01:48:12 PM
Okay, I’ve been playing this game for a while and I am currently trying to get monster souls for my morpher.  But I am having some difficulty.  What exactly are the requirements for catching monsters.  And please don’t be smart and say “be a hunter who has learned capture”  Because I know that.  I have so far been able to capture a lamia, firewyrm. antlion, red panther.  But I can’t for some reason capture a bomb, or a toughskin, or a jelly.  No matter even if I get them down to just 1 hp or so I still get 0% hit rate when I try to capture one even standing behind.  The highest % rate I have ever gotten I think was 21%, and rarely get a catch on the first try, usually 3rd time is the charm.  So anybody know of any requirements or strategies to capture monsters.  I haven’t tried the others because I haven’t run into them very often. I have only seen two tonberry’s so far.  I have over 100 missions complete, by the way.

Sorry to not be able to answer your question, but i have one of my own to ask also.

With battling, you need AP experience to level up specific skills. Do i get that by doing that specific attack, or do i not even need to use that attack to get AP experience for it. I'm not sure about this, because at the end of some battles, it says: 50 AP, as a reward, which leads me to think that if you wanted a certain skill raised, you wouldnt even have to actually use it once, but get AP xp from battle's endings.

No, you don't have to use that skill.  It will gain the AP needed to master regardless of what attack you use.

The monster can't be the last monster on the battlefield.
As long as their is one other enemy left, you can catch the monster.
Otherwise, no matter how weak it is, it will always be at 0%.

I have a question about how to get abilities. Now I have a level 12 soilder and he isn't learning his abilities quickly at all. I think he has been on 80 on first aid for at least since level 8 and I was wondering if there is something I'm missing or if there are anystrageys. Oh yeah and when you when a battle the AP you get is for your team points to level up your clan or is it for your units to get their abilites up? Well thanks for the help and I'm very grateful for this room.

do you have the weapon/item equipped?  They have to be equipped the entire time to master it.

Also the AP you get after battle goes to the units you used in a battle, not to the entire clan, just those that participate in battle, (or at least those you bring into battle).
